Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Zerev, Far Away in the Holy Capital, Misses His Wife

"Mother, please don’t send Lobak back."

Wendy, having heard Lobak’s inner thoughts right from the doorway, hurriedly ran inside. "Mother, there are other little beastmen in the Tiger Clan Tribe who will bully him too. We can’t let him go back."

Hearing Wendy’s rapid, chirping cries, Lobak looked slightly confused.

Having finished cleaning up in the kitchen, Tyler returned to the dining room and also cast a questioning gaze toward Ophelia.

Klein slowly took a seat nearby. "Ophelia, is there some sort of secret about Wendy?"

Tyler narrowed his eyes at Klein, noting that the male’s perception was entirely too sharp.

"Ophelia, we are already mates, so I don’t want you keeping things from me.

"Otherwise, if there ever comes a day when you need my help, I’ll be caught off guard." Klein showed no signs of anger, discussing the matter with a solemn expression.

Ophelia pondered for a moment before speaking slowly. "I suspect Wendy has the Mind Reading Technique."

"Princess, what is the Mind Reading Technique?" Tyler asked.

Klein rubbed his chin and voiced his own guess. "The Mind Reading Technique? Are you saying Wendy can hear what people are saying in their hearts?"

"Yes, that’s more or less it." Ophelia was somewhat surprised by Klein’s quick comprehension. However, he had always been smart, so it was only natural that he could figure it out.

"So, whatever we think in our hearts, Wendy can hear it all?" Klein looked toward the little girl.

Wendy blinked her big, innocent eyes. "Not exactly. I can only hear it sometimes. Other times, I can’t."

Neither Tyler nor Klein could understand Wendy’s Dragon language, so they both cast inquiring glances at Ophelia, who quickly repeated what Wendy had said.

"Word of Wendy knowing the Mind Reading Technique must not spread, or it will attract people with malicious intentions," Ophelia warned. Possessing the Mind Reading Technique was equivalent to holding the hidden secrets of everyone’s hearts. Such a heaven-defying and terrifying ability would definitely be coveted.

"Naturally, we won’t tell a soul, but..." Klein glanced at Lobak, who was standing nearby.

Lobak obviously understood the implication and quickly jumped up from his chair.

"Clan Leader Ophelia, I am willing to swear an oath to guarantee that I will never breathe a word of what I heard today.

"But I want to beg you to let me stay in the Fuzu Tribe, please? Even if it means becoming Wendy’s Beast Servant, I’m willing to do it." Lobak’s eyes shone with hope, mixed with the desperate resolve of a final gamble.

As Ophelia considered this, Wendy tugged at her mother’s hem. Her voice was soft and coaxing as she pleaded, "Mother, just let Lobak stay in the Fuzu Tribe. Let him play with me.

"He’s so good-looking! Seeing him every day will make me so happy."

Hearing Wendy’s reasoning, the corners of Ophelia’s lips curled up slightly.

The second child, Dan’er, shot Lobak a disdainful look. "What’s the use of being good-looking? A male needs to be strong."

"I like him anyway! I like good-looking people!" Wendy retorted.

"You can’t eat good looks. Right, Big Brother?"

The eldest child, Kohen, frowned in deep thought for a long while before answering, "Mother, since Wendy likes him, let Lobak stay.

"If you’re worried that Lobak might harm Wendy, you can have them form a Master-Servant Contract."

Once again, Ophelia was stunned by her eldest son’s mature way of thinking. Truthfully, she didn’t have the heart to send Lobak back to the Tiger Clan Tribe to continue being bullied by the other little beastmen either. Moreover, since no new little beastmen had been born in the Fuzu Tribe, having him around to play with the three little dragon cubs would be quite nice.

"Alright, I’ll allow you to stay.

"But I need you to swear to the Beast God that you will never do anything to harm Wendy, and that you will keep the secret you heard today."

Seeing that Ophelia was willing to let him stay, Lobak was overcome with excitement. He immediately dropped to both knees, raised three fingers to the sky, and swore, "Beast God, I, Lobak, swear to you that I will never harm Wendy, nor will I ever reveal her secret.

"If I break this oath, may I be torn apart and devoured by hyenas."

Ophelia couldn’t believe her ears upon hearing him make such a severe vow. She was just about to tell him to get up when Lobak continued, "I, Lobak, volunteer to become Wendy’s Beast Servant and protect her for the rest of my life."

With that said, he swiftly bit his own finger and pressed a drop of blood to the center of Wendy’s forehead.

Wendy was a little dazed. She felt a brief flash of heat on her forehead, but it vanished in an instant.

Ophelia furrowed her brows. "Why did you initiate the contract with Wendy?"

"Clan Leader Ophelia, this is the only way you can all be completely at ease."

"You..." Ophelia didn’t know what to say. But what was done was done; she could only accept it. "Tyler, clear out a room for Lobak on the third floor, and find some animal hides to make him some clothes."

Looking at Lobak’s tattered clothes and bruise-covered body, Ophelia sighed inwardly. It really was true—a motherless child was treated no better than a weed. Still, just as Wendy had said, the boy did possess a very handsome face. She lowered her head to look at her daughter, who was still staring fixedly at Lobak, and couldn’t help but chuckle. To think this little one was such a sucker for good looks.

With Lobak allowed to stay, Wendy was overjoyed. She happily pulled him along to give him a tour of the stone house.

"Give him a bath, and then apply some medicine to his wounds," Ophelia instructed.

"Yes, Princess."

Once they left, Ophelia returned to her own bedroom. Klein’s eyes flickered, and he followed right behind her.

Hearing footsteps, Ophelia was just about to turn her head when a pair of large hands wrapped around her slender waist.

"K-Klein."

Hot breath brushed against her ear as Klein spoke in a low, husky voice. "Ophelia, now that Wendy has a Beast Servant, isn’t it time to let the little dragon cubs move to the third floor to sleep?"

The first floor was the living area, the second housed the master bedrooms, and the third was for guests. Ever since Klein arrived, he had been staying in a guest room on the third floor, while Tyler accompanied Ophelia every night. He felt that if he didn’t bring it up himself, Ophelia would never take the initiative to ask him to keep her company. He knew she was deliberately trying to avoid him, but he refused to let her escape.

Besides, it wouldn’t be long before he had to return to handle his own affairs. He wanted to fully solidify their relationship before he went back to the Tiger Clan Tribe.

Ophelia felt a tickle at the tips of her ears and her cheeks flushed hot. "Are... are you trying to..."

"Yes. I want to become your true mate, not just in name.

"I have to return to the White Tiger Clan in half a month. You should at least leave me with something to remember you by."

Under the barrage of Klein’s sweet talk and his feigned pitiful act, Ophelia shyly nodded her head.

And so, that night, Tyler took the four little ones up to the third floor to sleep.

At the corner of the second floor, the eldest, Kohen, watched Klein walking with a brisk, energetic step as he carried a basin of hot water. The boy’s lips pressed into a tight line. He wondered when exactly his father would finally return.

Meanwhile, far away in the Holy Capital, Zerev stared blankly at the piece of linen cloth resting on his desk. After a long while, he tapped lightly on the table, and his Beast Servant, Jiuying, walked in.

"Young Master."

"Have this linen made into a piece of clothing. You are to bring back every scrap of leftover material—even if it’s just a single thread."

Jiuying solemnly took the linen in his hands and left the room. He knew that Ophelia had woven this fabric for the Young Master with her own hands. The Young Master treasured it dearly, so absolutely nothing could go wrong with it. Furthermore, he was the only one who knew about the relationship between the Young Master and Ophelia. Therefore, he had to oversee this matter personally to ensure there were no mistakes.
