Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Budala Has Arrived

Planning to nurse Lobak back to health, Ophelia remembered his previous intention to help the females of the clan improve their health. Because he had been busy growing crops and raising pigs, he had completely forgotten about it. Now that it came to mind, he needed to put it on the agenda immediately, lest he forget again when things got busier.

So, he entered his spatial dimension to leaf through medical books, finding a few prescriptions suitable for both men and women that could replenish vital energy and blood, and regulate the body. The males of the tribe, who went out hunting long-term, also harbored quite a few hidden injuries that needed tending to.

For the next period of time, Ophelia busied himself in his space, diligently working on his herb-growing enterprise. Because selling fever-reducing medicine and antiseptic medicine had earned him a lot of Crystal Stones recently—even though it still wasn’t enough to upgrade his space—it was enough to buy fertilizer acceleration packs. So, Ophelia bought all the herb seeds needed for the prescriptions, then turned on the automatic planting mode and queued up the seed packets in order.

Meanwhile, in Ten Thousand Beasts City, Moye was looking at the city map.

There was little unclaimed land left in Ten Thousand Beasts City. Thinking of Ophelia’s vast cornfields and herbal medicine fields, Moye felt his blood boil with excitement. If Ophelia truly succeeded this time, he might just be transferred to manage a larger city.

Just then, a male beastman hurried inside, interrupting Moye’s visions of the future. "City Lord! City Lord!"

"What’s with the panic? What happened?"

The young male gulped. "City Lord, someone from the Holy Capital is here."

Moye assumed Zerev had returned and dismissively waved his hand. "So what if he’s here? It’s not the Young Master’s first time visiting anyway. Why are you so worked up?"

"You’re mistaken! City Lord, it’s not the Young Master this time. It’s Mr. Brada from the Fire Phoenix Clan."

"The Fire Phoenix Clan?" Moye silently recalled what he knew about the clan. The first thing that came to mind was his own Young Master’s arranged childhood marriage with Princess Sophie of the Fire Phoenix Clan. He panicked, wondering if the news of Mr. Zerev already finding a partner had been exposed and if the Fire Phoenix Clan was here to settle the score. For a moment, Moye brainstormed frantically, trying to figure out how to completely extricate himself from this mess.

But before he could come up with an excuse, several figures strode into the room. The male in the lead was tall and imposing, with long fiery-red hair cascading down to his waist and an arrogant expression plastered across his face.

"What, is the City Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts City hard of hearing? Didn’t you hear me arrive?

"If you’re deaf, I don’t mind putting in a word for you and having the Winged Dragon Clan replace you."

Hearing Brada’s words, Moye tensed up. However, having been a City Lord for many years, he maintained a calm facade despite his inner apprehension. He offered an apologetic smile. "What are you talking about, Mr. Brada? I was just ordering someone to prepare a room for you.

"I have absolutely no intention of slighting you."

Seeing Moye’s agreeable attitude, Brada scoffed coldly and sat straight down on a chair. "Enough. Traveling for days has exhausted me. Hurry up and boil some water so I can take a proper bath." The males of the Fire Phoenix Clan all had varying degrees of germaphobia, and Brada was even more severe in this regard. Traveling day and night for the past few days was truly more than he could bear.

"Yes, of course, I’ll have someone prepare it right away." Moye was about to give the order when Brada stopped him.

He pointed a finger at Moye. "You do it yourself."

Moye and the young male in the room were both stunned, but Moye quickly realized what was happening. He realized that Brada was trying to put him in his place. Although Ten Thousand Beasts City belonged to the Winged Dragon Clan, the young master of the Fire Phoenix Clan held a prestigious status and shared a marriage alliance with the Winged Dragon Clan. No matter how unreasonably Brada treated him, Moye had no choice but to endure it. But he wasn’t going to suffer in silence. After respectfully leaving the room, he immediately dispatched someone to send word back to the Holy Capital that Mr. Brada of the Fire Phoenix Clan had arrived in Ten Thousand Beasts City.

The messenger had barely left when a subordinate returned to report to Brada. "Sir, the City Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts City indeed dispatched someone to send news of your arrival back to the Holy Capital."

Brada propped his chin on one hand, lightly tapping his cheek with his fingers. "That’s perfectly normal. It would be suspicious if he didn’t report back to the Holy Capital." Ten Thousand Beasts City was the territory of the Winged Dragon Clan. Since a young master of the Fire Phoenix Clan had arrived, it was only natural to notify the ’family’. It seemed this City Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts City was quite loyal after all.

Brada scanned the spartan meeting hall; the furnishings and objects here couldn’t even begin to compare with those in the Holy Capital. He was rather curious about how a noble young master like Zerev could endure such conditions, staying here for months on end.

By the time Brada finished bathing and freshening up, the sky outside had already grown dark.

Moye had long since ordered a sumptuous dinner to be prepared, waiting for him to come out and dine. Looking at the wide variety of dishes on the table, Brada raised an eyebrow. "These dishes look quite decent. There are even some I’ve never seen in the Holy Capital."

Alarm bells blared in Moye’s mind. Staring at the hot and sour shredded potatoes and the spicy sour cabbage on the table, he felt a pang of regret. He had actually forgotten to instruct the kitchen not to prepare these newfangled dishes! Ever since Zerev fell in love with Ophelia’s cooking, Moye had sent the City Lord Mansion’s chefs to the Fu Clan to study under Ophelia for a while. Although the resulting dishes weren’t as delicious as Ophelia’s, they tasted significantly better than what the chefs used to make. The meals at the City Lord Mansion had drastically improved, and these types of dishes were even becoming a popular trend throughout Ten Thousand Beasts City. However, due to a shortage of ingredients, not many households could afford to eat them.

To avoid exposing the truth, Moye could only play it off. "When Mr. Zerev previously visited Ten Thousand Beasts City, he wasn’t accustomed to the food and lost his appetite, so the mansion’s chefs developed these new recipes.

"You should give them a try, Mr. Brada. If they aren’t to your liking, I’ll forbid the kitchen from making them in the future."

With a look of utter disgust, Brada picked up the chopsticks, inspected them thoroughly, and then threw them heavily to the side. Beast Servant Kaka hurriedly stepped forward, pulling a pair of exquisite white jade chopsticks from the animal skin pouch tied at his waist.

"Please use these, Sir." He also produced an animal skin handkerchief to wipe Brada’s hands, as if Brada had just touched something filthy.

Watching their display, Moye’s lips twitched. He silently lamented that young masters from the Holy Capital were simply too troublesome.

As Brada ate, he critiqued the dishes; one was too salty, another too bland. Either way, he found fault with absolutely everything. Moye naturally saw that Brada was deliberately making things difficult, but he didn’t get angry and merely kept apologizing.

"Mr. Brada, I am truly sorry for the limited conditions here in Ten Thousand Beasts City.

"May I ask if you are just passing through Ten Thousand Beasts City this time, or..."

Brada’s face darkened. "What? Are you trying to meddle in my business?"

"No, you misunderstand, Mr. Brada. It’s just that the conditions in Ten Thousand Beasts City are quite poor, and I’m afraid we might wrong you."

"Enough. I’ll be staying in Ten Thousand Beasts City for a few days. Take your time to adjust; your chefs will eventually manage to make dishes that suit my taste."

Hearing that Brada would be staying in Ten Thousand Beasts City for a few days, Mo Yin’s heart skipped a beat. He desperately wondered what he was supposed to do. He could only hope that the person he sent to deliver the message would hurry up a bit more. Otherwise, if they were too late, there would surely be trouble.

After finishing his meal, Brada wiped his mouth with the animal skin handkerchief. "Moye, I heard that Zerev stayed in Ten Thousand Beasts City for several months. What exactly is so great about this place that it made a noble young master from the Holy Capital so reluctant to return home?"
