I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 75: A Two-Pronged Scam
Chapter 75: Chapter 75: A Two-Pronged Scam
Ophelia stared coldly at Miche with her azure eyes, the corners of her lips curling up in a hint of mockery.
"Miche, these are the only tricks you know. A female who only knows how to act weak isn’t fit to be the Clan Leader’s wife.
"Don’t go falling sick from exhaustion after just a couple of days of work. Who knows if a certain someone might blame you for being useless then."
In the past, her affection for Loki was the only reason she had been played like a fiddle by Miche’s petty schemes. Now that she had come to her senses, the other woman’s tactics seemed like nothing more than cheap tricks. If Miche could subtly stir up trouble, she certainly could too.
Miche shook her head, a wronged expression on her face. "Ophelia, you’ve misunderstood. Loki, it was really just me being careless and losing my footing. It had nothing to do with Ophelia."
Loki’s eyes darkened as he remembered what his father had told him before coming here. "Since it’s a misunderstanding, it’s good that we’ve cleared it up." A smile appeared on his face. "Ophelia, I knew you still had me in your heart. You still can’t let me go, right?"
A ripple disturbed Tyler’s normally calm demeanor, and murderous intent flashed in his brown eyes. "You think too highly of yourself. Are you even worthy of becoming the Princess’s mate?"
Loki’s face turned cold as he turned his head back. "Ophelia, I know you still care about me. There’s no need to deny it, and stop throwing tantrums.
"I don’t mind that you deliberately partnered with Tyler just to make me mad. As long as you break your bond with him and return the ten young females to the Snow Wolf Clan, I’ll overlook it and agree to be your mate again."
A trace of panic flashed across Miche’s face. "Loki, Ophelia seems to genuinely like Tyler. Why don’t you just let them be together?"
This was wrong. Things weren’t supposed to go like this. Once Loki became the Clan Leader, she would immediately become the Clan Leader’s wife. She couldn’t allow any unforeseen changes to ruin her plans.
Ophelia took in every bit of Miche’s panic and Loki’s greed.
Loki’s expression shifted slightly. "Ophelia, stop being so stubborn. As long as you agree to come back, I promise I’ll treat you well from now on. I won’t let you suffer any more grievances."
He tried to step forward to grab Ophelia’s waist, but a large hand clamped onto his wrist like a vise.
"Tyler, get lost! This is between Ophelia and me. It’s none of your business!"
"If he has no right, then who does? A mere Wolf Beast like you?" Ophelia sneered.
"Even if you are the Clan Leader now, it doesn’t change the fact that you will never be able to defeat Tyler.
"Not only are you incredibly thick-skinned, but you’re also quite delusional."
Loki had never expected that Ophelia would still dare to reject him, even after he had lowered himself to such an extent. And she did it in front of so many clan members and people from Foreign Clans! Where would he put his face as the newly appointed Clan Leader?
"Mother, Father has already admitted his mistakes. Just break your bond with Tyler and come back to the Snow Wolf Clan. I want both you and Father by my side." Amy’s voice rang out crisply. She felt that her mother was being far too unreasonable.
A layer of frost covered Ophelia’s face. "Loki, I came here today just to tell you to stop pestering me. I will absolutely never reconcile with you, so please stop harassing me."
"Ophelia, are you truly going to be so heartless?" Loki said with a dark expression, unable to stop sharp claws from extending from his fingertips.
Tyler’s eyes were like sharp blades as he spoke coldly. "I dare you to try something." He looked as if he was ready to wash the Snow Wolf Clan in blood.
With a forceful squeeze of Tyler’s hand, Loki cried out in pain.
The onlookers began to whisper among themselves, and even the members of other clans muttered in low voices.
Seeing that such a large crowd had gathered, Ophelia raised her voice. "From today onwards, I, Ophelia, have absolutely nothing to do with Loki! Furthermore, I warn the members of the Snow Wolf Clan: you are no longer permitted to hunt in the Golden Dragon Clan’s territory. Anyone who violates this will be punished by death!"
"Ophelia, you..."
In truth, most of the outsiders who had come to the Snow Wolf Clan today had done so precisely because of Loki’s marital ties with the Golden Dragon Clan. Hearing Ophelia publicly announce the severance of their relationship, the way they looked at Loki instantly changed.
"Also, Loki, I’m warning you. Don’t try any more of your crooked schemes, or don’t blame me for showing no mercy."
It wasn’t that she couldn’t kill Loki; she just wanted him to experience the agony of watching everything he cared about slowly slip away. But if he kept courting death, she wouldn’t mind sending him to the afterlife early!
"Tyler, let’s go."
Having achieved her goal, Ophelia didn’t want to stay in the Snow Wolf Clan for a moment longer.
Seeing Ophelia preparing to leave, Amy grew anxious, unsure if she should follow. Her small hands tightly gripped the hem of her animal-skin dress, her eyes filled with insecurity and grievance. She didn’t know what to do as her mother’s figure walked further and further away, leaving her behind.
Miche slowly walked over and crouched down. "Amy, it seems Ophelia really doesn’t plan on keeping you anymore."
Amy glared at Miche angrily. "I don’t need your fake kindness! You’re not a good person either. You stole my medicine—you’re a wicked female!"
Amy vented all the grievances and dissatisfaction in her heart onto Miche, her mind consumed by hatred over her stolen medicine.
A crack appeared in Miche’s facade, but she quickly covered it up. Her eyes became watery and brimming with sincerity.
"Amy, I’m so sorry. If Auntie Miche had known that it was your medicine, I wouldn’t have taken it even if I was dying of illness. I truly didn’t mean to steal it from you. Your father was just too worried when he saw I was sick. Plus, he was afraid that Laxus might want to harm you, which is why he thought of letting me test the medicine first."
Amy pursed her lips. The guard in her eyes relaxed slightly, though she was still furious. "But Galen still snatched my medicine. You don’t need to make excuses; I saw it with my own eyes."
Shedding tears of shame, Miche replied, "Galen was just too worried about me. I’ve already taught him a lesson. If you’re still angry, you can whip him. Just as long as you aren’t mad at Auntie Miche anymore."
Seeing Miche’s earnest attitude, the dissatisfaction in Amy’s heart largely dissipated.
Loki walked over at this moment, dropping to one knee so he was at eye level with Amy. "Amy, Father was wrong before. I shouldn’t have taken your medicine, and I shouldn’t have hit you. Can you forgive me?"
Amy pouted. "Then why did you abandon me and leave me all alone at the Golden Dragon Clan?"
Miche smiled gently. "Silly child, Loki leaving you there was obviously for your own good."
"Really?" Hope ignited in Amy’s heart.
"You are Loki’s biological daughter. How could he possibly not want you? At the time, there were so many sick people in the Snow Wolf Clan. If you had come back, your condition would have only worsened. You could get much better care in the Golden Dragon Clan.
"Look, Loki and I prepared these things especially for you. Animal skins of these colors are very rare. Do you like them?" To curry favor with Amy, Miche had even brought out the beautiful animal skins she had kept hidden at the bottom of her storage.
Amy gently stroked the soft animal skins. Tears glistened in her eyes, and her voice choked with emotion. "This blue animal skin is so pretty."
Miche softly pulled Amy into an embrace. "Then we’ll make it into a dress for you. You’ll be the prettiest little female cub in the entire clan."
