Chapter 63: Cabin

"Haven’t you always lived here, meow?" Pearl asked, confused.

"I was just expressing my feelings." Ethan rubbed Pearl’s head and smiled, he picked up a piece of bread and took a big bite.

"Then we’ll be leaving first!" After lunch, the Minotaurs’ help was no longer needed for the remaining work, they cleaned up the surrounding area.

Ethan, who was currently making window frames, looked up. "Mhm, thank you for your hard work, if you ever want to build wooden cabins, remember to call me."

"Got it! Let’s go!" Draugor led the Minotaurs away.

Walter watched them leave in the distance and shrugged. "It seems I have nothing left to do either, so I’ll be taking my leave."

"Thank you for your help," Ethan said.

"It was a piece of cake, alright, see you tomorrow." Walter said he would come again tomorrow to drink Moonlight Tomato juice, and then left.

Ethan looked at Zharok, who didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving. "I want to look around here and leave after it’s fully built, I have nothing else to do anyway, will I be in the way?"

"No, it’s just that you might find it very boring," Ethan said, besides installing the glass and doors, there was nothing special left to do, it wouldn’t be much fun, yet Zharok still wanted to stay.

"I know what I’m doing, you don’t need to worry," Zharok said with a smile.

Ethan shrugged. ’Alright then.’

Zharok wandered around the wooden cabin while Ethan began to make window frames, he made a wooden frame that matched the size of the glass, fitted the glass inside, and secured it with nails.

Ethan entered the cabin and began to smooth out the cement over the stone-paved floor, trying his best to make it completely level.

Pearl hopped onto the windowsill and peeked inside, he shook his head. "Pearl, don’t come in."

"Meow? Are you paving the floor with cement, meow?"

"Yes, I want to level it first, then lay animal skins on top."

"Meow-woo, I understand, meow."

"Hey! There’s a hole here!" Zharok shouted from outside.

"I’ll patch it up in a bit!" Ethan called back.

After leveling the floor, he immediately went outside and used cement to fill the gaps, he didn’t know how much time had passed when he finally finished all the work, the sun was setting in the west, leaving only the last gleam of afterglow.

"Wow..." Ethan stared at the completed cabin and the cascade of notifications.

Zharok and Pearl circled the building and walked over.

"How is it? Is it finished?" Zharok asked.

"Meow-woo! Can we go inside and take a look, meow?" Pearl asked.

"The cement on the floor hasn’t dried yet, looking from outside is enough," Ethan said.

"Alright, what a pity." Zharok opened the door and peeked in, then he tilted his head, confused, and closed the door.

"What’s wrong?" Ethan asked.

"The space inside seems bigger than the outside?"

’It must be the effect of Spatial Expansion, right?’ Ethan opened the door and was instantly stunned.

"Wow..."

The space inside had nearly doubled in size.

The interior of the new cabin was much more spacious, but it was completely empty. It felt like something was missing.

’I need to get some furniture.’

Ethan inspected the still-wet floor and silently calculated the number of animal skins he currently had.

"What’s wrong, meow?" Pearl tilted its head and asked.

"It’s nothing." Ethan shook his head.

It seemed he didn’t have enough animal skins to cover the floor, he could go to the Minotaur or Canine Beastman villages to get some more.

’I should do something else first.’ His gaze fell on a pile of glass panes, it seemed it was time to build the greenhouse.

"Where are we sleeping tonight, meow?" Pearl’s voice interrupted his thoughts.

Ethan shrugged and pointed to the fireplace. "We’ll make do, tonight, we sleep by the fire."

Pearl seemed very reluctant to sleep outside, it wagged its tail, jumped onto Ethan’s shoulder, and rubbed against his cheek. "Can’t we sleep inside, meow? Is the cement still not dry?"

"No, it’s not completely dry yet," Ethan explained.

"How about we pitch the tent?" Zharok suggested.

But Ethan was firm. "There’s no need to go through all that trouble, we have animal skins, and it’s not cold at night, we can just sleep as-is."

He picked up Pearl and said gently, "If it gets cold, we can cuddle together to sleep."

"Alright, meow~" Pearl rubbed comfortably against Ethan’s cheek.

"If it’s really that bad, you can go stay in my cave," Zharok offered sincerely.

"That would be too much trouble for you." Ethan smiled and declined Zharok’s kindness, he still had a lot of things to do and couldn’t afford to run back and forth.

Ethan started a fire in the fireplace, the blaze burned bright, and the heat traveled through the underfloor heating pipes, warming the entire cabin.

"The cement will be completely dry in a day or two, until then, let’s work on things outside," Ethan said to Zharok.

"Is that so? Then I’ll spend the night here too, I need to prepare tomorrow’s breakfast." Zharok picked up his weapons, getting ready to hunt.

"Then go catch some prey and bring it back," Ethan said.

Zharok’s figure disappeared into the forest.

Ethan then began to make the glass window frames needed for the greenhouse.

"Meow? What are you making, meow?" Pearl asked.

"Making window frames," Ethan answered.

Building a greenhouse required many glass window frames, it would be even better if they were made of iron, but right now, he didn’t even have iron ore, let alone a smithy.

’I need to make a smelting furnace as soon as possible,’ he thought while using wood to craft the frames.

Zharok walked out of the forest holding two plump Horned Rabbits.

Ethan smiled. "Looks like tomorrow’s breakfast is roasted Horned Rabbit."
