Chapter 377: Chapter 340: I’ll Pack Some Food to Go

The two of them were starving.

With a lull in customers, it was the perfect time to eat.

Li Donghai was resting in a rocking chair at the entrance of the restaurant. After Li You brought the dishes to an empty table, he walked out the door and said to Li Donghai, "Grandpa Donghai, time to eat."

"Okay, okay." Li Donghai replied, standing up.

The two of them walked over to the table and sat down.

Seeing the dishes on the table, Li Donghai said, "Xiaoyou, why did you make so much food? This is too much."

Li You smiled. "It’s not that much; we can finish it all. Please, help yourself, Grandpa Donghai. Don’t hold back."

Li Donghai nodded. "Okay."

Li Donghai was, of course, thrilled and excited to be eating here again.

Even though he was in his sixties, he still loved good food and enjoyed delicious meals.

And the food here was, without a doubt, the best.

As Li Donghai ate, he kept praising the food. ’It’s just too delicious!’

Li You was delighted and encouraged him to eat more.

Eventually, they finished all the dishes. They had each eaten two large bowls of rice as well.

Li Donghai said with satisfaction, "Xiaoyou, your food is really the best. I always eat so much more rice when I’m here."

Li You smiled. "Then you should come eat here more often, Grandpa Donghai."

Li Donghai said, "I can come often. But I have to pay for it myself. I can’t keep eating for free."

Li You replied, "We can talk about that later."

Li Donghai waved his hand. "I’m definitely paying from now on. How can I just keep eating for free? Anyway, Xiaoyou, I’ll head back for now. I’ll bring another hundred or so ears of corn to sell around four this afternoon."

Li You nodded. "Okay. Take care on your way back, Grandpa Donghai."

"Alright."

Li Donghai left. Just then, another customer placed an order, so Li You went back into the kitchen to get busy.

...

「Changle Village.」

Li Donghai rode his tricycle back to the village.

Just as he reached the entrance, he ran into Li You’s dad, Li Shuiliang.

Li Donghai was thrilled. He quickly stopped his tricycle and said, "Shuiliang, your boy Xiaoyou is so successful now! Incredibly successful! I brought another 150 ears of corn to sell today, and they all sold out in less than two hours."

Li You’s father, Li Shuiliang, was overjoyed inside, but he said, "Mr. Donghai, your corn sold out so quickly because tender corn is a rare treat right now, and on top of that, your corn is delicious. Those are the main reasons."

Li Donghai shook his head. "No, no. When I sell at the market in town, they don’t sell nearly this well. Selling at Xiaoyou’s restaurant is completely different. Our whole village is now enjoying the benefits he’s brought us."

Li Shuiliang felt an even greater surge of joy and pride, and he couldn’t keep the smile off his face, but he still said, "Oh, you’re too kind, you’re too kind. It’s too early to be saying things like that."

Li Donghai said, "It’s not too early at all. Shuiliang, I’m truly grateful to your Xiaoyou. Having him in our village is a blessing."

Li Shuiliang replied, "Oh, no, you’re giving him too much praise."

Li Donghai said, "It’s not praise. Xiaoyou is already the pride of our entire village. Oh, and he insisted on treating me to lunch today. He’s such a good kid!"

Li Shuiliang grew even more gleeful and proud, but he said, "Oh, it’s nothing. You’re his elder; it’s only right that he treat you to a meal."

Li Donghai waved his hand. "No, no, all I can say is that he’s a great kid!"

Li Donghai then launched into another round of praise. Li Shuiliang continued to speak humbly, but the smile on his face was now completely unconcealed.

After a good while, the two men exchanged goodbyes.

Li Donghai continued riding his tricycle home.

He hadn’t gone far when he ran into another villager named Liu Haibo.

Liu Haibo was in his early sixties, a bit younger than Li Donghai. He said with some surprise, "Brother Donghai, how come you’re back so early? Don’t tell me you sold out again?"

Li Donghai chuckled. "Of course I sold out again. And what’s more, I was sold out before noon. The only reason I’m back now is because Xiaoyou insisted on having me stay for lunch. Xiaoyou’s cooking is truly delicious."

Liu Haibo, of course, knew how delicious Li You’s cooking was, as he had eaten there himself.

However, that wasn’t what he was focused on right now. It was the fact that Li Donghai had sold out of corn before noon.

He remembered that it was already 10 a.m. when Li Donghai had left that morning; he’d happened to run into him at the village entrance then, too.

’So that means Li Donghai sold all 150 ears of corn in less than two hours?’

’It must be incredibly easy to sell things outside Xiaoyou’s restaurant, huh?’

Liu Haibo was very tempted and said, "Brother Donghai, if I have something to sell in the future, do you think I could also sell it over at Xiaoyou’s restaurant?"

Li Donghai said, "Probably. Just mention it to Xiaoyou, I’m sure he’ll agree. But you can’t get in the way of his business."

"Of course!" Liu Haibo said. "It would be completely out of line to disrupt his business just to sell my things."

Li Donghai smiled. "Exactly." ℯ𝔴ℯ

After a moment, he added with feeling, "I was just telling Shuiliang, having Xiaoyou in our village is a blessing."

Liu Haibo nodded. "That’s right. Say nothing of anything else, just the fact that he’s buying crawfish alone has allowed us older folks to earn a decent income right here in the village."

Li Donghai said, "Yeah! Compared to other villages, our village is so fortunate!"

Liu Haibo said, "I agree."

The two of them chatted for a while longer before saying their goodbyes.

Li Donghai continued riding his tricycle home.
