Chapter 168: Chapter 130: Longevity Cells
...
"Ugh, I was already at my wit’s end with these death row inmates, and now I get an order to stop the Demon Slaying Association from taking advantage of the chaos!"
"The order comes from His Majesty the King, and it applies to you, too!"
Lin Biyun looked completely exasperated. She was a new "player," too, and was experiencing all the typical trials and tribulations.
Although they had plans in place for capturing the death row inmates who were running rampant, it obviously wasn’t a problem that could be solved in a day or two.
One crisis after another kept piling up, and she was clearly struggling to keep up.
"If those death row inmates are what’s troubling you, I can actually help with that."
"I guarantee it’ll be quick and efficient. The moment those guys pop their heads out, they’re dead."
Chen Qi couldn’t bear to see his old boss looking so troubled. Besides, in a way, he still owed her a favor.
So, he volunteered his services.
Lin Biyun, however, looked at him suspiciously. ’He’s being unusually helpful. He must be after something.’
Based on her impression of him, the sly and shifty Red Heart 7 was no good Samaritan.
"Don’t worry, this one’s on the house."
"Although, I won’t be the one doing the work. My Red Falcon King will."
Chen Qi went on to describe the Red Falcon King’s accomplishments. The creature had cut down dozens of death row inmates in just over ten seconds—an absolute killing machine.
All Lin Biyun had to do was simple: provide intel support to lock down the criminals’ general location.
The Red Falcon King would arrive on the battlefield at Mach 3 and begin the slaughter.
...
"Are you sure there won’t be any problems?"
"It won’t kill the wrong targets, will it?"
When Lin Biyun learned that the Red Falcon King had a special ability to lock onto death row inmates within a 500-meter radius, she was ecstatic.
The most difficult part about dealing with these inmates was their ability to hide.
They were essentially expert criminals with extensive counter-surveillance experience.
No matter how powerful the Kingdom’s intelligence network was, it could only identify a general area after a crime had been committed.
A manhunt on foot would take at least two or three days just to sweep a single area.
If what Red Heart 7 said was true, and the Red Falcon King could really "sniff out" hiding inmates within 500 meters, it would save them a world of trouble.
At that creature’s speed, it would be the absolute bane of their existence.
"Absolutely. I guarantee it."
Chen Qi swore on it. If the Red Falcon King made a mistake, he would personally step in and do the job himself.
Strangely enough, after the Red Falcon King killed those dozens of death row inmates, its body had undergone a bizarre change.
To be more precise, its Life Magnet Field had been permanently altered.
Chen Qi suspected it had something to do with the Red Falcon King absorbing the resentment of those death row inmates.
The inmates’ resentment had most likely been influenced by the power of the Azure-headed Demon Dragon.
After the Red Falcon King absorbed that energy, it had been affected as well.
After running some tests, Chen Qi found that the Red Falcon King was perfectly fine; in fact, its physical body had grown even stronger.
So he decided to let the Red Falcon King kill more inmates to see if it would trigger some sort of qualitative transformation.
The only problem was that this fell under Lin Biyun’s jurisdiction, and he couldn’t just go around meddling in her affairs.
Chen Qi had only done a small-scale "cleanup" in Talin City, but in the process, he discovered the Red Falcon King could somehow lock onto the inmates.
This further confirmed Chen Qi’s suspicion that the Red Falcon King must have also been influenced by the Azure-headed Demon Dragon’s power.
Chen Qi had been worrying about the Red Falcon King’s future development, so naturally, he wasn’t about to let this opportunity pass him by.
It just so happened that Lin Biyun had contacted him to report on the Demon Slaying Association, so Chen Qi seized the opening and enthusiastically offered his help.
Since Chen Qi had personally vouched for the Red Falcon King, Lin Biyun no longer had any doubts.
And so, the two of them instantly came to an agreement, striking a deal.
In their hearts, both of them felt they had gotten the better end of the deal!
