I Have a Dice Left by a God
Chapter 881 - 98: Scheming Still Needs the Taiyin School
Chapter 881: Chapter 98: Scheming Still Needs the Taiyin School
Shao Feng looked at Li Xin, confidence tinged with curiosity. It was rare enough that Li Long actually had such a powerful Body Cultivator.
"Next up is Loose Cultivator Ren Yanli’s third match in his triple challenge. Honored guests, Ren Yanli has already taken two triple wins in the inner arena. Whether he can complete this third triple will soon be revealed!" Yun Le’s passionate voice rang out, with less showmanship and a bit more sincerity. No one knew if Ren Yanli could keep winning. It was hard—really damn hard.
"Hold it!" From the guest seats, a voice cut Yun Le off. "This isn’t fair."
"Elder Wang, what’s your opinion?" Yun Le gave Wang Zhigao a strange once-over, afraid he’d stir up trouble. Dealing with this Elder was actually pretty nerve?wracking; no one knew when he’d suddenly blow up.
"Our Divine Land is one of the Five Great Sanctuaries. The triple challenge is Jiuxiao Building’s rule, so I won’t argue that. But Shao Feng is a Sword Cultivator expert of the Infinite Sword Sect; how could he stoop to taking advantage of Ren Yanli? At the very least, give him a sword. Otherwise even if he wins, there’s no honor in it." Wang Zhigao said blandly.
Holy shit. The whole place erupted into a noisy uproar. Which side was this Wang Zhigao even on? Was he sick in the head or what?
Yun Le was both amused and exasperated. Although she felt Elder Wang had a bit of a point, this wasn’t how things were done. "Elder Wang, we don’t have such a rule."
Tang Feng and Kui Ma, those two old foxes, were only stunned for a moment. If they lost again, they wouldn’t even want their faces. At a time like this, who cared about fairness? Besides, weapons were part of one’s cultivation.
Very quickly the two exchanged a glance and couldn’t help cursing inwardly. When it came to being devious, it still had to be those old undead geezers from the Ten Thousand Swords Sect.
The Ten Thousand Swords Sect was the strongest Sect of the Taiyin School, and Wang Zhigao was the cream of that crop. How good could he possibly be?
The cultivators didn’t care about any of that; they immediately started cursing and cheering on the beautiful and kind?hearted Yun Le.
"There’s no such rule. Everyone’s weapon is trained with their life on the line. A duel is a duel, not some charity soup kitchen."
"Elder Wang, you’re just a guest, not an Elder of Jiuxiao Building. Don’t run your mouth."
Taking advantage of the crowd’s heckling, Xiao Yan immediately rushed to the edge of the stage. A longsword with a gem?inlaid scabbard appeared in his hand, and he flung it toward Li Xin. "Brother Ren, use mine!"
Li Xin was helplessly amused and could only catch it. It felt especially comfortable in his grip. The moment the sword left its scabbard—shing—Spiritual Ability faintly leaked out. Good sword!
He shot a glance at Wang Zhigao up on the high platform. This old bastard...
"No wonder that guy got kicked out of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect. His brain’s busted."
"All he does is cuss people out all day. Now he jumps out at a time like this to put on airs. If I were the Ten Thousand Swords Sect, I wouldn’t want him either!"
"Damn, which idiot’s sword is that? Looks like a proper Treasure Sword."
The crowd had already lost two matches in a row, and with the alcohol in them, they immediately turned their fire on Wang Zhigao. Wang Zhigao kept a blank face and raised his chin, completely unbothered.
Shao Feng frowned slightly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. He didn’t need such petty tricks to win. But when his eyes met Wang Zhigao’s, he swallowed the words he’d been about to say.
The Infinite Sword Sect wasn’t very interested in worldly stuff; this was just a Sect mission. No need to fuss over it. Just finish the mission and return to the mountain. There was even less need to get entangled with a former Elder of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect.
Back at his seat, Xiao Yan was extremely excited. "The Infinite Sword Sect’s Swordsmanship is razor sharp. With my sword, he can block it. Huh... what’s with you two’s expressions!"
"Is it possible Brother Ren doesn’t want to use a sword?" Liu Zhongyang said.
"Doesn’t want to use a sword?" Xiao Yan froze for a moment, then suddenly reacted. "That old bastard is too nasty. How can he use such high?sounding words to pull such a dirty stunt?"
Forcing a Body Cultivator who excelled at fists and kicks to use a sword—it was basically tying up one of his hands, and it wrecked his whole rhythm on top of that.
"He’s an Elder of the Taiyin School. Isn’t this perfectly normal?" Liu Zhongyang said with a laugh.
"And you guys didn’t stop me!"
"We also want to see how Brother Ren handles it." Ku Chan said softly. "Brother Xiao, no need to worry. It won’t be a problem."
In the arena, Li Xin held Xiao Yan’s flashy Treasure Sword, feeling the surging Energy in the Sword Body. It was definitely a pricey good item. Judging by Divine Land prices and Xiao Yan’s level of wealth, if he broke this thing, he’d have to sell himself to pay off the debt.
"Brother Ren, your skills are impressive; I’m taking advantage here. But rules are rules—I won’t hold back." Shao Feng clasped his sword and cupped his fists.
"Brother Shao, go all out. I have my friend’s Treasure Sword to aid me." Li Xin said with a grin, shaking the gem?inlaid longsword in his hand.
The crowd stared at this Treasure Sword and couldn’t help clicking their tongues. It wasn’t the gems that impressed them; the scabbard itself clearly wasn’t a mundane item. The gems were actually the least important part. Which dumbass couldn’t tell inside from outside?
"Third match: Loose Cultivator Ren Yanli versus the Infinite Sword Sect’s Shao Feng—begin!" With a passionate shout, Yun Le strode off the stage on her long legs.
Shao Feng sank his center of gravity, his hand slowly settling on the hilt. With a low shout, an invisible aura surged out like a sharp blade, stabbing toward Li Xin. Li Xin’s momentum rose in response, the two auras alternately climbing. Shao Feng was a bit surprised that Ren Yanli still had this kind of presence left after two brutal fights.
Shing...
A cold gleam burst out. His body moved with his sword, and the Clear Wind Sword in his hand slashed toward Li Xin in an instant. Blades of sword edge enveloped Li Xin. In front of a Sword Cultivator, a Body Cultivator had zero initiative and could only passively defend. With a High Grade Wind Spirit Root, Shao Feng was the standout among standouts. He knew Ren Yanli’s burst speed and completely controlled the pace of the attacks, every Sword Qi strike aimed at Li Xin’s vital points.
Facing such a fierce assault, Li Xin blocked and dodged in tandem—but he never used the sword in his hand to parry. If one of those swings chipped off a gem, he’d be taking a massive loss. He and Xiao Yan were good friends; even if Xiao Yan didn’t make him pay, his own heart would hurt.
Falling Leaves Shake wasn’t nearly as effective against Shao Feng’s attacks. Strands of Sword Qi forced Li Xin to keep retreating. He even had to use his right hand to block, relying on a Body Cultivator’s formidable defense to tank the blows.
The cultivators from the Vajra Institute below the stage could see clearly. This kid’s body surface had a layer of protective astral qi, just like their Vajra Indestructible Skill. But the Vajra Indestructible Skill wasn’t truly indestructible. If you kept passively defending, sooner or later it would be broken.
Watching Li Xin struggle to keep up, many of the cultivators in the stands were delighted. Only now did they understand Elder Wang Zhigao’s intent. Weapons were all about familiarity. Swapping to a weapon at the last minute—unless it was exactly the same type they were used to—would always feel off one way or another.
This move was truly brilliant. It really had to be someone from the Ten Thousand Swords Sect. Otherwise how would they be ranked second among the Divine Land Sects?
Shao Feng noticed this as well, so he leaned even harder into that weakness. His rhythm was rock?steady. With the experience from the previous two bouts, he’d already figured out Ren Yanli’s patterns: can take a beating, explosive speed, a Body Cultivator with very deep routines. Especially since the other side came from that outside Knightly Path—he had to guard against Divine Flash. Once that was accounted for, everything else was easy.
Bang bang bang...
His right arm blocked Sword Qi as waves of explosions rang out. Li Xin’s body shook violently. At that moment, Shao Feng appeared above Li Xin’s head. His right hand’s two fingers brushed along the blade, and in an instant a storm of sword light whirled into being—eighteen arcs of Sword Qi slashed down at Li Xin.
Li Xin took one look and knew this wasn’t good. He immediately shot into the air, charging straight through the Sword Qi toward Shao Feng. At most he’d eat one or two strikes before he could close the distance.
