Chapter 210 - 115: Mili Has a Fever
Chapter 210: Chapter 115: Mili Has a Fever
Chen Yuan glanced at the other people in the waiting room. They were mostly over thirty. He was the only young person there. He covered his face, not even daring to look up.
"Now, now, baby’s daddy, you’re an educated man. You can’t be like this," Jiang Wanyi said, a smirk playing on her lips.
"Let’s just focus on getting you treated. Don’t be so stressed about it."
Jiang Wanyi’s smile was a little cheeky. It was as if she was finally winning back the round she’d lost to him at the entrance of the community clinic.
"Hey, baby’s mama, I took a picture of you. Want to see?"
"What picture? Let me see it, quick."
Chen Yuan pulled up the picture he’d taken of Jiang Wanyi sleeping that morning.
"Here you go."
The smile vanished from Jiang Wanyi’s face as she looked at the photo.
Not only was her hair a complete mess, but a good portion of her chest was exposed!
"You’re so annoying! How could you secretly take a picture of me!"
"You were sleeping so soundly this morning. I had to take a picture to remember the moment," Chen Yuan said.
"You say you’re here to keep me company, but you’re always the first one to fall asleep."
Jiang Wanyi blushed, a little embarrassed. "I wanted to help, but you didn’t need me. I had nothing to do, so I just fell asleep."
"Mhm, and quite soundly, too."
"Stop talking! You’re so annoying!"
Jiang Wanyi cut him off, snatching the phone and hastily deleting the unflattering photo of herself.
Just then, the announcement system called for Chen Yuan, and the two of them stood up.
"You’re not actually coming in with me, are you?" Chen Yuan asked.
"You came in with me during my check-up, didn’t you? Now that it’s your turn, you’re getting shy?" Jiang Wanyi teased.
"That’s completely different," Chen Yuan said.
"I didn’t want to go in then. The female doctor was the one who insisted."
"Well, she wasn’t wrong. You’re the baby’s father. It’s only natural for you to go in and show some concern."
"But this is different. The doctor probably won’t let you in for something like this."
"You’re the baby’s father, and I’m the baby’s mother. It should be fine for me to go in and show some concern for you, right?"
Jiang Wanyi took Chen Yuan’s hand, a mischievous smile spreading across her face.
"Come on, let’s go. Even if there really is a problem, I promise I won’t say a word. I’ll definitely help you get back to peak condition."
Chen Yuan: ...
With a final push from her, they entered the consultation room. A middle-aged doctor sat there, poised and formal.
"What seems to be the problem?"
"I..."
Chen Yuan wanted to say something, but he didn’t know what.
’There’s nothing wrong with me; I was dragged here. How am I supposed to describe my "symptoms"?’
"We’re here for a check-up. We want to see if he has any... deficiencies, and if he needs any conditioning," Jiang Wanyi said matter-of-factly, not treating it as a big deal at all.
There’s a fundamental difference between a young woman and a young girl.
The male doctor shot Chen Yuan a knowing look, then muttered to himself.
"He looks quite young. Give me your wrist."
Chen Yuan placed his wrist on the pulse pillow. The doctor didn’t say a word, but his expression said it all.
’He probably already thinks I’m some useless husband who can only last a minute.’
After checking one wrist, he moved on to the other.
"Stick out your tongue for me."
Chen Yuan obliged.
"So, what brought you two in? Any symptoms like night sweats, or weakness and soreness in your lower back and knees?"
"No," Jiang Wanyi said.
"That’s what I thought," the doctor said.
"Just as I said. A young man like him shouldn’t have any major issues."
Hearing the doctor say that, Jiang Wanyi felt relieved.
’If I’d really worn Chen Yuan out, it would’ve been my fault.’
"How’s your relationship?"
Jiang Wanyi didn’t expect the question to be aimed at her.
"It’s good."
"Are you intimate frequently?"
"Well..."
The question made Jiang Wanyi awkward.
’For a normal married couple, a question like this would be fine. They’re all adults here; you can just be open about it.’
’But that was precisely the problem.’
’They weren’t a normal married couple, and... that sort of thing hadn’t even happened.’
"I haven’t been feeling well recently, so we haven’t..." Jiang Wanyi said quietly.
"That explains it. He’s a bit pent-up right now, and that needs some release," the doctor said bluntly.
"With these things, you don’t want to overdo it, but you can’t abstain completely either. You need to find a healthy balance. If you’re not feeling up to it, you should find other ways to... help him out. You two have a child already; you’re not a couple of teenagers. I shouldn’t have to teach you about this, right? Go home and figure it out."
"Oh, oh..."
"So... does he need any medicine?"
"Medicine?"
The illogical question seemed to stun the doctor.
"You just need to go home and help him ’resolve’ it. Why waste money on medicine? It’s not easy to earn money these days." The doctor leaned back in his chair. "Alright, you can go home now."
"Okay..."
After the appointment, the two of them left the consultation room.
The atmosphere between them had become a little strange.
In that moment, it was as if all the various people around them had faded into the background.
The whole situation had been quite embarrassing for Chen Yuan initially, but after they left the office, the tables had completely turned. Now, Jiang Wanyi was the one who was embarrassed.
"Well, the appointment’s over. You heard the diagnosis, so I’ll leave it to you to figure out the ’treatment’," Chen Yuan said, breaking the silence.
"You’re so annoying! I’m gonna pinch you."
Jiang Wanyi snapped back to her senses, her face blushing crimson from his teasing, like a fiery sunset cloud.
But she was relieved that there was nothing wrong with Chen Yuan. Nothing was more important than his health.
"I guess I won’t be needing that goji berry concentrate you bought. You can finish it yourself," Chen Yuan said.
"You’ve already ’recharged’ me plenty. My energy is much better now, so you don’t need to worry about me."
Originally, Jiang Wanyi had planned on making Chen Yuan drink the rest, but on second thought, too much ’nourishment’ probably wasn’t a good thing either.
