Chapter 182: On The Verge Of Dying
Chapter 182: On The Verge Of Dying
Raiden looked up to his saviour, only to find Maple standing on top of her partner, a Green Dragon.
"Mr Raiden, run away. I’ll try to keep it busy while you run away from here. I have a feeling he is not down yet." Maple spoke gravely while gravely staring into the distance where the Black Dragon had fallen.
As if hearing her words, another roar rippled out from the distance, as a Black Dragon took flight again. On his face was a deep, bloody scratch, so deep that you could see the bones inside of it.
But to Raiden’s astonishment, the newly inflicted wound was already starting to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye, soon turning into nothing more than a small scratch.
"Why are you still standing around here for?! I am no match for him! The best I can do is hold him back, so go!!" Maple screamed, snapping Raiden out of his stupor as he gave one final look to miss attendant before running away decisively.
As weak as he was right now, he would only get in her way. The best thing he could do was escape into the distance so she could fight without holding back and run away when necessary.
Roarrr!!!
Two distinct roars sounded from behind Raiden, but he didn’t dare to look back, only focused on escaping and getting back to the line as soon as possible.
He could feel Woolie getting weaker and weaker in his hands, his pulse getting fainter. He needed help, fast.
While jumping, rumbling, and doing everything, Raiden pushed his body to absolute limits.
"Hang in there, buddy!! We are about to reach there. Just hang on, just for a moment more." Raiden panted as he talked. His vision is starting to blur.
"Come on Raiden, Faster! Gotta go ever faster!! Move my body, Move!!!"
Raiden made a cut on his thigh using one of his hand blades, using a pain to keep himself awake.
It worked, but for only a moment, as just a few seconds later, he started to see stars once again.
"Sha Sha!!" Hang in there, Rai Rai~ You can do it!!~
Neva cheered on from his shoulder as she created another spear of light to pin down a Terra Beast that just attempted to lounge itself at Raiden.
She had slain countless beasts like this along the way. As Raiden started to get tunnel vision, able to see nothing but the goal, Neva protected him from all sides. ’
And after fighting for so long, she was starting to get tired and hungry. She had used Heavensfall two times in a row, fought Countless Terra Beast, created a path, fought Platinum, all the while protecting Raiden. For a newborn baby like her, it became too much, and it had started to take a toll on her body.
This could be felt in her attacks as she created a smaller light sword a beat later, almost not being able to defend Raiden as the Terra Beast came just a few centimetres away from him. The pink and gold pattern on her back started to fade away, losing all its shine and lustre.
Thankfully, Raiden was finally able to see the front line of humans, where they were having their last stand just a few hundred metres away. With the end in sight, Raiden pushed himself even further, using the last of his energy to crawl over that line, reaching relative safety and collapsing to the ground.
As soon as his head touched the ground, his consciousness started to fade, and the world started getting darker. An irresistible blur of sleep called to him, and he gave in.
Just as the darkness started to claim him, he felt a sharp pain on his face.
He opened his eyes with difficulty to see a small white silhouette, looking very familiar.
"Sh...a...S....aa....."
He couldn’t understand what she was saying, but felt another sharp pain on his face again, so sobering him up a bit.
"Shaaa!!!" Rai Rai!! Wake up, Rai Rai!!~
He looked at the tearful face of the small spider in front of him with a confused gaze and feeling a deep heartache in his chest.
"Sha Sha!!" Rai Rai!! Something is happening to Big Brother, wake up, Rai Rai!!!
In just a few seconds, Raiden regained all his consciousness as he sat up abruptly, catching the fallen spider in his hands. This was also the first time since he started escaping that he was able to get a good look at her.
Her pristine white body was completely covered in dirt and burnt in many places, while all the divine patterns on her back had faded away. Her large eyes filled with tears and fatigue gave an extremely pitiful feel.
"Thank you, Neva. I will take care of your big brother. You take some rest, ok? You are very brave today. The Best. Take some rest." Raiden patiently placed his hands over her body, calming her down a little.
Neva looked at the reliable figure and felt all the tension leave her body.
"Sha...S..ha..." Take care...of...big.brothe...
She closed her eyes peacefully, falling asleep on the spot.
After a few seconds, Raiden moved his arms with difficulty and put her in his pocket, letting her sleep.
Those few seconds of sleep were enough for him to recharge a bit, and now that all the adrenaline had left his body, he could feel his body screaming in pain from various places. It was especially felt in his hands, which were completely crushed when he clashed with that Platinum Terra Beast.
Ignoring the obvious pain, he turned his head with difficulty towards Woolie, who had fallen a few metres away from him. He tried to move his legs but was unable to, so he started crawling towards Woolie.
Bit by bit, his worn body reached him as he lay a hand on his face, feeling a very weak breath.
