I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!

Chapter 263: The Daily Life Of Raiden and Woolie

  • Next Chapter

The next day, Raiden was woken up early by the stomping of Emperor Woolie on top of his chest.

“Woolie Woo!!” Good Morning, human. It’s been a while since we trained together, right? Let’s go do it right now!! ( ? ?? ? ?? ?)

Looking at the little bundle of energy that was staring at him with puppy eyes, he was left with no other choice but to groan and wake up.

“Damn it, Woolie. Can you even think about the time? The sun isn’t even out yet, you know?!” Raiden complained, but nevertheless, his body started moving on instinct as he put on the T-shirt over his bare upper body before walking to the attached washroom to brush, with a skipping Woolie trailing behind him.

Pulling the now-heavy Woolie on top of the basin, both sheep and human stood in front of the mirror. They brushed their teeth together before spitting it out and gargling together as well.

After completing the ritual, he washed his face with the water and walked back into the bedroom, where he saw Rose and Neva still sleeping while leaning against each other.

Looking at the peaceful scene, Raiden pulled out the blanket and tucked them both in together as a soft smile formed on his lips.

He pulled his phone out of the charger and sent a “good morning, beautiful!!” message to his girlfriend before he set out for the kitchen.

After coming downstairs, he was greeted by the silence as the sun started to rise beyond the horizon, painting the house in an orange shade.

“What do you feel like eating today, buddy?” Raiden asked Woolie, who just started bouncing around in excitement.

“Woo Woo Woolie Woo!!” I want that fluffy, sweet thing with sweet liquid we had a few days ago!!

Looking at the little sheep drooling, Raiden couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

“Haha, alright, Pancakes it is. Give me a minute. I’ll make both spicy ones and sweet ones for you. Tell me how they taste.”

Raiden swiftly put on an apron and got to work around the kitchen. He skillfully prepared batter for pancakes and some little condiments for both versions.

He created some banana pancakes for the sweet version and Yachaejeon for savoury ones, before topping each one with some homemade jam and a spicy dipping sauce, and finally serving them both on different plates in front of Woolie.

Woolie couldn’t help but drool looking at the food in front of him and started digging in immediately.

“Woolie Woolie Woo!!” Delicious!! Both are really delicious, human. Come and have some with me!!

“Haha, I’m glad you like them. I’ll be there in just a few minutes.”

Next, Raiden started making pancakes at neck-breaking speed. His two hands were moving differently as they flipped two pans, two pancakes in the air, and he started creating stacks of them one after another.

Thanks to the system-given cooking proficiency, he could accurately time the flips, manage the heat, measure the ingredients, and proportion everything as he made lots and lots of food while simultaneously dividing it into four plates.

If any professional chefs had noticed him cooking right now, he would definitely be invited to work in the highest-calibre restaurants around the world, but he had no interest in it.

Alas, the guy was too ignorant of the fact, as he just hummed a little song to himself while cooking for his family.

Within 15 minutes, he was done creating hundreds of pancakes, of which one-fourth went to Woolie, two-fourths were left for Neva and Rose before the final one-fourth was divided between him and Sylvia.

Woolie let out a small burp, just as Raiden sat down. His face was covered in food, causing Raiden to chuckle as he looked at the silly little sheep.

After finishing his food, wiping Woolie’s face off, and storing the food with instructions on how to preheat it, both Raiden and Woolie set out to complete their duties throughout the day.

Under the little bit of morning sunlight, both Raiden and Woolie made their way towards the sheep enclosure at the farm, where all the sheep had been spoken to and started going out to graze the grass.

As soon as both Woolie and Raiden reached there, all of them greeted him loudly and bowed towards Woolie, who puffed his chest out and started walking with his head held high.

“Woolie Woo!!” Hmm, not bad, not bad. Keep going like this for the Emperor, and you will never go hungry. Human, hurry up and feed them.

“Sometimes I get confused. Who actually is the master trainer here, you or me??”

Despite his complaining, Raiden quickly went to an enclosure inside the barn and brought out bags and bags of food left by Maple. He started dumping it, letting the sheep help themselves.

“Woo!!”

All the sheep loudly thanked Woolie, who puffed out his chest in even more pride, causing Raiden to mutter ‘ungrateful little sheeps!’ under his breath.

“System, Enhance in bulk.”

{Ding!! Update successful!!}

At the same time, just as the sheep started gathering around the food, Raiden quickly started to upgrade their potential, killing two birds with one stone.

Raiden looked at the data in front of him and nodded his head with a smile.

‘Not bad, not bad. At this rate, all of them will soon max out their potential.’

More than half of them have reached their A potential, with one-third of them trailing behind. At this rate, he would reach his goal very soon. He had no intention of elevating all of them to S-level or even EX-level. A-level was good enough for his purpose at Sarah and Woolie Textiles.

He had learned the hard way that being too dazzling came with side effects, and he had no intention of standing out anytime soon, not until he reached Diamond-Tier Battle Master, at the very least.

After finishing up with his work with the sheep, he set them all free to play around on the farm as he made his way towards the tree where Wild Terra Beast had already been watering them for him.

He greeted them all and, as promised, rewarded them with a potential upgrade. He started to do the same for all kinds of berry trees, which had grown even thicker and lusher with time. He made sure to pay special attention to the thunder and light berry trees he had gotten for Woolie and Neva.

By the time Raiden was done with all his farm chores and work, the sun had already risen and was staring him directly in the face.

“All right, Woolie, let’s go train now!!”

“Woolie Woo!!” About Damn Time Human!! Let’s Go!!

———————————————-

The two of them made their way towards the training ground at the edge of the farm, a wide open patch of land that Raiden had cleared specifically for this purpose. It was nothing fancy, just flat ground with a few wooden dummies scattered around and a couple of stone targets he’d set up months ago, but it was theirs.

Woolie was practically vibrating with excitement as they walked, his little hooves barely touching the ground.

“Woolie Woo!!” What are we training today, human?? Are we doing the thing where you throw rocks at me and I dodge them?? Or the thing where I try to hit you and you keep dodging?? Or the thing where—

“Slow down, buddy.” Raiden laughed. “We’ll figure it out when we get there.”

They reached the training ground just as the sun fully cleared the horizon, casting long shadows across the grass. Raiden stretched his arms over his head, feeling his joints pop, and looked at Woolie with a serious expression.

“Alright. First things first. I want to check something.”

Woolie tilted his head.

“Woolie Woo?”

“Your seal. The one Valcoric put on you. I want to make sure it’s holding.”

He reached out and placed a hand on Woolie’s head, closing his eyes and focusing on the bond between them. He could feel it immediately, a faint golden warmth wrapping around Woolie’s soul like a protective blanket, steady and strong.

“It’s holding,” Raiden said, opening his eyes. “Good.”

“Woolie Woo!!” What are you even talking about??

“Nothing. You don’t really need to worry about it.” Raiden scratched behind Woolie’s ear. “Now, let’s actually train.”

He walked over to a pile of rocks he’d gathered earlier and picked up a few small ones, each about the size of a fist.

“Same drill as before. Dodge.”

He threw the first rock.

Woolie dodged it easily, his body blurring into a violet streak as he sidestepped without even looking.

The second rock came faster.

Dodge.

The third came from a different angle.

Dodge.

Raiden kept throwing, faster and faster, mixing up the angles and speeds, but Woolie was untouchable. His movements were sharper than before, more precise, like the week of sleep had somehow recalibrated his entire body.

“You’re getting better,” Raiden said, impressed.

“Woolie Woo!!” Of course!! This Emperor never stops improving!!

“Let’s see how you handle this then.”

Raiden picked up a larger rock, about the size of his head, and channelled a bit of his own energy into it before throwing it with significantly more force.

Woolie’s eyes widened slightly, but he didn’t back down.

Instead of dodging, he charged straight at it.

“Woolie!!”

BOOM!!

Woolie’s horn connected with the rock dead centre, and it exploded into a cloud of dust and pebbles that scattered across the training ground.

Raiden stared.

“… You were supposed to dodge that.”

“Woolie Woo!!” Dodging is boring. Hitting things is fun.

Raiden sighed, but he was smiling.

“Fine. New drill then. You hit, I dodge.”

Woolie’s eyes lit up.

“Woolie Woo!!” Now we’re talking!!

For the next hour, Raiden ran around the training ground while Woolie chased him with lightning-fast headbutts, thunder strikes, and the occasional Hell Step that left scorch marks in the grass.

Raiden dodged most of them, but a few got through, and each one left him wincing and rubbing at whatever body part had just taken the hit.

“You know,” Raiden panted, dodging another headbutt by inches, “for a sheep, you hit really hard.”

“Woolie Woo!!” That’s because I’m not just a sheep!! I’m Emperor Woolie!!

“Yeah, yeah, I know.”

By the time they finally called it quits, the sun was high in the sky and both of them were covered in sweat and dirt. Raiden flopped down onto the grass, chest heaving, while Woolie collapsed beside him with a satisfied bleat.

“Woolie Woo…” That was fun. We should do this more often.

“Yeah.” Raiden stared up at the sky, catching his breath. “We should.”

For a few minutes, they just lay there in comfortable silence, watching the clouds drift by.

Then Woolie rolled onto his side and looked at Raiden.

“Woolie Woo?” Hey, human. Can Woolie really protect everybody?

The Raiden looked a little sheep who felt vulnerable for the first time ever before he burst into a smile and gave an answer that came straight from his heart.

“Haha, did you end up forgetting who you were?? Emperor Woolie!! You can definitely protect everyone, I am counting on you for it buddy.”

Hearing his answer, a smile appeared on Woolie’s face as he stood up.

“Woolie Woo!!” Of course, I am Emperor Woolie!! I will protect everyone!! Just watch me!!

“I believe in you buddy. Now, come on, let’s get cleaned up. Sylvia’s probably wondering where we are.”

“Woolie Woo!!” And food. I want more food.

“You just ate.”

“Woolie Woo!!” Training makes me hungry!!

“Unbelievable.”

Raiden got to his feet and offered a hand to Woolie, who ignored it and jumped up on his own, landing neatly on Raiden’s shoulder.

Together, they walked back toward the farmhouse, leaving the training ground behind them.

For the first time in a long time, Raiden felt like things were finally, truly okay. Nobody after his family, or out to kill him. No more pressure of debt, and he truly felt relaxed and free.

And he intended to enjoy it while it lasted.
