I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses (ND)
Chapter 162: Sara wakes up
Vivianne didn’t wait too long.
Once she had decided, she went straight to [Dream].
Standing in front of [Dream]’s door, Vivianne didn’t know if she should knock.
As she was stuck in her dilemma, [Dream]’s voice came from inside the room. "Come in."
And then the door opened on its own.
Vivianne moved inside the room. [Dream] was sitting behind a desk, writing something in a book. It looked like she was writing something important.
Vivianne waited patiently for her as she wrote. After some time, [Dream] sighed. Muttering something about the inconvenience of not having a body, she closed the book and looked at Vivianne.
Seeing she was free, Vivianne decided to ask her question, but before she could speak, [Dream] said, "I can’t help you with your memories."
Vivianne, who had been hopeful after speaking with Night, had her hopes dashed. She looked at [Dream] blankly.
Seeing Vivianne like this, [Dream] said, "It’s not that I don’t want to help you. I simply can’t."
Vivianne asked in confusion, "Why?", a goddess said she couldn’t help
"I simply don’t have much Divine Source anymore," [Dream] explained. "After the last fight, there is barely any left."
[Dream] turned her head to look out the window and added, "Your memories were tampered with by an Immortal, and it would take a lot more than what I currently have to undo that."
Vivianne asked, "So you are already low on this Divine Source, does it mean you are on your last leg?" She didn’t know what Divine Source was exactly, but she realized it must be what gods and goddesses used instead of mana or energy.
[Dream] turned to look back at Vivianne and said, "I will be honest. I had more Divine Source than I would ever need until recently, but certain events drained most of it."
She shook her head. "Well, you are right about me being on my last legs, but it is what it is."
Vivianne then asked, "Does Night know?"
[Dream] paused for a few moments, sighed again, and said, "I’ll tell him soon..."
Vivianne closed her eyes, sighed as well, and left the room.
Even though she didn’t get her problem solved, she had gotten the answer she wanted.
Back in her room, Vivianne stared at the wall as she thought. Even though the Goddess could not help, she did confirm my memories have an issue.
As she thought about various things, her expression went through a myriad of changes, from suspicion, sadness, and loneliness, to anger, rage, and loss. In the end, it settled into a serene expression.
I need to recover my strength. She realized all her problems would be solved if she just had enough strength.
"First, though, I need to get out of this wheelchair," she muttered with determination.
...
Death was sitting on a chair beside the comatose Sara and Anna.
Unlike the peaceful expression she wore on her face, her thoughts were anything but that. Her thoughts couldn’t be any darker...
Most of her mind was occupied by Minerva, who looked like a formidable obstacle to her plans, mainly due to her overwhelming strength.
Just as she was pondering a solution, she noticed a movement.
Her eyes widened as she saw Sara’s fingers twitch.
She screamed, "Nighttttt...!" completely forgetting to even call him ’Master’ as she usually did.
Night, who was in the middle of creating more clones, suddenly paused when he heard Death’s scream.
He stopped everything and immediately sent his awareness into the room she was in. His face was solemn, as if he was about to face a great enemy, completely forgetting the fact that no enemy could enter his Soul Space and harm his friends, even if they wished to.
Night’s awareness reached the room, and what he saw made him pause the ten huge Yellow Bombs he was preparing to drop on the supposed enemy.
There, on the bed, he saw Sara awake. She was sittting on her bead and was looking around the room with curiosity. Her gaze paused when she saw Night, and then she gave him a smile after recognizing him.
Night immediately dispersed the attacks he was preparing. Then he basically teleported to Sara, dove onto the bed, and hugged her fiercely.
Death saw that his body quivered as he hugged her for some reason. But the sobs and sniffles were a dead giveaway as to what was happening.
Night was crying.
Sara also realized this and returned his hug.
She patted his back as she tried to recall what had happened. Back when she had blocked the Devil’s attack, she was sure she had died because she had felt her soul shatter from the impact.
But looking at the surroundings, feeling the bed, and feeling Night clinging to her like a gecko let her know she was very much alive.
She then looked at her palms. I feel a lot weaker, though.
She tried to figure out the reason. No matter how severe her injuries had been, she shouldn’t have felt this weak, especially since she felt like she was already fully healed.
This could only mean my levels and cultivation have dropped, Sara thought. Could what Night used to heal me have had a cost?
She could only guess.
She looked at Night, who was still hugging her, though by now his sobs had stopped.
She used her arms to pull him properly onto the bed, letting him hug her from the side.
Death looked at this, but for once, her thoughts were not about turning Sara into a skeleton; instead, she was genuinely worried about Night.
Sara then looked at Anna, her mother, who was comatose in the other bed, and realized she should wake up soon as well.
For a second, she didn’t know what to think of that, she was hopeful but also little afraid of what changes it might bring.
After some time, the others came into the room one by one.
Even Lilith and Eve ditched Vance, after knocking him out, to come and check on her.
Sage had told them Sara had woken up, so they could only think of knocking him out as the quickest solution to their problem. After all, it was not wise to leave such an unpredictable person awake in their house. What if he did something while they weren’t looking?
It was better to be safe and antagonize the other party than to let him be and regret it later.
At the end of the day, Night was their top priority. Everything else was secondary, so they were always extra careful.
The usually empty room was now filled with everyone. Dolly, the newest member, and even [Dream] had joined them.
Sara looked at all of them. She didn’t expect so many people to be concerned about her; it warmed her heart, even though she didn’t know half of them.
To her, the gesture mattered more than the people themselves.
She finally spoke up, now that Night had calmed down, after Lilith and Eve had gotten some pastries from somewhere and stuffed them into his mouth.
They probably didn’t want him to cry again.
Sara asked, "Where am I, and what happened?"
She then paused.
She realized that for so many people to gather around Night, she guessed a lot of time must have passed. She asked the more important question: "How long has it been?"
It was Vivianne who answered. Her entrance had surprised everyone, even Night, because she was standing and not in her wheelchair. Though her movements were as stiff as a puppet’s, she was finally able to move without looking like a cripple.
Vivianne proceeded to explain everything she had seen herself, detailing how Sara was revived and what had happened ever since she arrived here.
Sara’s eyes widened. "Not even a month has passed? I thought at least five to ten years must have gone by."
Night finally finished his pastry and said, "If that much time had passed, I would have grown."
Sara paused. She looked at Night and realized that, aside from his face looking a bit more mature, he looked exactly the same.
Sara then joked, "But your height is exactly the same."
Lucy came to his defense. "He is still young. It will take some time for him to hit his growth spurt."
Sara used her hand to comb his hair.
She noticed that she was not wearing the witch outfit she usually wore; instead, she was wearing a simple white gown focused purely on comfort.
Sara then gave Night a mischievous smirk and said, "So, Blade and I ended up becoming your summons? Should we call you ’Master’ now?"
A blade flew out and smacked Sara in the back of her head with its hilt.
Sara then tried to catch the blade, but it ran away and hid behind Night. An eye opened on its hilt as it peeked at Sara from behind Night’s back.
Night and everyone else chuckled at that.
Night said, "Whatever is most comfortable for you, you can call me that."
Sara had a thoughtful expression on her face, as if she were genuinely considering it.
Night then brought up the main topic. "After you feel fine, we can go to the city we just got our hands on. I know you were sad to lose the Desert City, so we got another one, and this time, I will make sure no one steals it from you."
But Sara looked at Night and shook her head.
Night asked, "You don’t want it?"
Sara smiled. "I prefer being a summon."
