I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses (ND)
Chapter 181: Fight
After that, Night continued to figure out how each mouth functioned. All of them had various uses; some for battle, while most of them were completely random.
?Like one mouth that had the ability to spit sticky goo; he didn’t know what that could actually be used for.
?Meanwhile, another mouth could fire beams of light like a laser. The damage it did was already more than good, but when he combined it with his Nightmare Mist, he got a lethal attack skill that could work even on Demigods.
?It was already established that his Nightmare Mist could harm Demigods, and this mouth made it far more potent.
?The mouth could concentrate his Nightmare Mist, and because its primary ability was firing beams of light, it resulted in pure damage and the overall output was many times higher than what Night could do on his own.
?He named the attack ’Death Ray’ and the mouth ’Ender.’
?By this point, Night was pretty happy since this much was already more than enough. He merely skimmed through the other mouths, until he found another one that was just as good. Its ability was simple, yet terrifying in the hands of someone like Night.
?The ability was simple: it could combine with other mouths, and there was no limit to how many...
?And he named this mouth ’Nightmare Devour.’
?For this, he got speechless looks from [Dream] and System Girl, but he stood firmly by his choice because this mouth deserved it.
?Then he remembered the mouth that could eat and reflect attacks back, and he decided to name that mouth ’Absolute Counter.’
He felt like this mouth would come in handy more than he previously assumed.
?After some time, Night paused going through the rest of the mouths and decided to first master these four, seeing if he could come up with combination attacks as well.
?[Dream] immediately approved of the idea, and they started a new round of training focused on merging them into his fighting style.
?[Dream] personally sparred with him from then on.
Though, when he asked if she would be sparring with his hundred clones all alone, she simply smiled. Purple Dream Mist spread out from her, and suddenly, a hundred and one [Dream]s stood before him, one more than he had.
?Night asked, "Are you going to bully me with more numbers?"
?The one extra [Dream] clone chuckled, walked back, sat on a nearby rock, and said, "I will just watch. It would get too boring if all I did was spar with you; I need some entertainment as well..."
?Night gave her a blank look. ’She just wants to watch me get beaten up.’
?The clone on the rock replied, "You are probably not wrong."
?Before Night could continue arguing that he should also be allowed to have an extra clone, [Dream]’s clones attacked.
?...
?Back in the present.
?The other monsters reached them. Some of them ignored the group entirely and tried to enter the city, but the runes covering the city stopped them cold.
?Arthur warned, "We can’t let them spread out and gather outside the city! Otherwise, when the merger is completed, they will rush right in and we won’t be able to do anything."
?Jeffy replied, "First let’s focus on getting levels. Worry about the city later."
Night and Sara agreed they thought the same.
?Another monster attacked them; this one looked like a yellow tiger with white, cloud-like wings.
It didn’t attack them head on like the previous one instead it stood a distance aways.
?Mist spread from its body, covering the sky. The mist seemed to have some vision-blocking properties because they suddenly heard Jeffy say through telepathy, "I am blind, cover me!"
?Even his telepathic voice sounded distorted. The mist apparently blocked telepathy as well.
Luckily, they were close to each other.
?Taking advantage of the mist, the other monsters lurking within it started to surround them.
?The one that had spread the mist, the tiger with cloud-like wings, didn’t attack them directly, instead continued looking at them coldly from afar.
?Sara activated a wind spell that only blew away the mist right around them, leaving the rest since the mist also blocked most of the other monsters’ vision.
?Arthur lashed out with a sword strike at another tiger-like monster charging at them. In response, it opened its mouth and released a golden breath that intercepted and stopped the attack.
?Night teleported right behind its back just as it was about to fire another golden breath at Arthur.
?’Nightmare Devour.’
?The mouths in the Nightmare Mist gathered to form a single huge maw that lunged at the tiger’s back, while Jeffy, who was able to see again, appeared directly below it.
?Sensing two lethal attacks from above and below, the tiger tried to escape, but Sara cast a spell at that exact moment.
?’Ice Freeze.’
?The spell itself was pretty weak, but because the monster’s cloud-like wings were mostly made of vapor, the spell froze it in place for a split second; which was more than enough time for Night’s and Jeffy’s attacks to arrive.
?’Nightmare Devour’ closed around the back of the tiger and bit down hard, its teeth vibrating like a chainsaw.
?The tiger suddenly flashed with golden light, but the mouth, which was now larger than the tiger thanks to the ability of another combined mouth that could increase its size, bit down completely unaffected.
Chomp
?Most of its back portion, along with the majority of its wings, was swallowed in an instant.
Roarrrrr Roarrr Roarrrr
?The tiger screamed in pain, and at that exact moment, Jeffy’s hammer arrived, wreathed in an indomitable hammer intent.
?The hammer struck, and the bottom half of the monster was instantly pulverized, the monster screams died just like that.
SpatterSpatter Spatter
?Blood and gore splashed across the sky as this happened, only to be sucked straight into ’Nightmare Devour,’ which used a mouth skill that created a powerful suction effect.
?Then the mouth shrank back down and started chewing. Night didn’t devour this monster the usual way because he was going to use another mouth skill, one that had felt useless at first, but now that he thought about it would help them greatly right now.
?Jeffy looked at it for a moment, probably wondering what was up with the weird mouths, but he stopped himself and moved back to where Sara and Arthur were, since he would be blinded by the mist unlike the others, it was unwise to stay separated.
?Night stood in the air as he noticed the nearby monsters had paused and were warily analyzing them.
?Unlike Mortal Realm monsters, most of which were pretty stupid aside from a few intelligent ones, each Demigod monster seemed to possess decent intellect and didn’t blindly attack just because they saw prey.
?This gave Night some time to prepare, and the same was true for Sara.
?Sara, being a witch, could set up arrays and magic circles if given enough time, and she had been doing just that this entire time, though it was particularly difficult to do so unnoticed by the Demigod monsters.
?However, it was also bad news for them if the monsters waited too long.
Because once the merger was completed it would get more chaotic and if things got out of hand then he might actually have to request Rango for help which if he could help it he didn’t want to do.
Below them, Night could already see the edges of the city blurring, and he could faintly see spaces beyond that should have not been there before slowly moving in and merging with the Dream City.
Something was warping near their city, and it seems the merger had already started.
?It looked like space itself was being sewn together, like different pieces of cloth being stitched into one.
?He focused his energy into his eyes, his vision growing sharp and piercing.
?He then looked at the city’s edge, his mystic eyes now able to see much more as they peered directly into the fabric of space.
?He faintly saw three cities. One city looked like it was built near the sea, while another had towering statues and monuments in it.
?Meanwhile, the last one looked more like a large village than a city; it had snow on the roofs of its huts and modest houses, letting him know that it came from a snowy region.
?Night thought, ’A coastal city, a heroic city? And lastly, a snowy city... Hmm, interesting...’
?’I wonder how the Dream City will look after the merger, and I hope all these cities have good restaurants... Even though my stomach is full from the continuous supply of Demigods, I am still craving some snacks.’
?He gulped as his thoughts drifted to delicious food, but he quickly returned his attention to the fight.
?Crunch, crunch, crunch.
?He looked at the mouth that was still chewing, and after a couple of moments, it finally stopped. The surrounding monsters also seemed to have paused to watch what he was doing.
?Especially considering how he had been the decisive factor in killing two of their own, they perhaps wanted to know more about him before committing.
No one liked the idea of becoming his lunch, after all.
?’Nightmare Devour’ opened wide, and from it swarmed thousands of blackish-purple flies. After emerging, they immediately circled around him like he was the Lord of the Flies.
?Night looked at them and was stunned, he had been only trying his luck but these were Demigod flies. He hadn’t expected to create something beyond his own level.
Furthermore, he had given each insect the blood-sucking ability from the Vampire mouth.
?He then thought, ’This mouth is also not bad. With this, I can steamroll Mortal Realm monsters with just these flies. Also, what will happen if I feed this mouth a God’s corpse? Will it produce God-rank flies?’
?He got goosebumps, not for himself, but from thinking about how his enemies might feel.
?Night mused, ’I’ll call this mouth ’Mother Fly,’ and the blood-sucking one ’Blood Sucker.’
?’Simple and easy-to-remember names,’ he nodded to himself.
?Under the horrified looks of Arthur, Jeffy, and most of the monsters, he commanded the flies to spread out and cover the Dream City.
?This would ensure he had eyes on all the Demigod monsters around the perimeter. And it also helped that none of the Demigod monsters attacked these flys since they were wary of not just the flys but each other as well.
Night, ’It looks like none of these Demigod monster are buddy buddies, this is good unlike the horses they had encountered before which were from the same race, these monsters were a mixture of different races’
?Arthur saw the flys, thought, ’This kid is a monster. Just that ability alone, if used freely, could technically wipe out most of the monsters on this planet.’
