Chapter 523 Fate Has a Terrible Sense of Humor

Chapter 523: Chapter 523 Fate Has a Terrible Sense of Humor

The men did not like what Lin Feng had to say.

Their expressions immediately darkened, and the friendly atmosphere vanished in an instant.

"Mind your own business, dumbass. If you don’t, I’ll make sure there’s a hole in your body before the day is over."

One of the drunken men stepped forward and brandished a long knife that was only an inch short of being a sword.

The blade gleamed under the streetlights, drawing nervous gasps from several nearby onlookers.

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow.

He couldn’t help but wonder how the man had managed to hide such a ridiculously long weapon on modern-day Earth without attracting attention.

Still, the thought was fleeting. To him, a knife was nothing more than a toy.

His calm demeanor remained unchanged.

The same could not be said for the woman they had been surrounding moments ago.

She looked at Lin Feng with conflicted emotions.

Part of her was grateful that someone had finally stepped forward to help her.

Another part was terrified that something horrible would happen to him if he continued interfering.

Her lips parted as if she wanted to warn him, but no words came out.

Lin Feng simply looked at the group with cold eyes.

"It’s men like you that belong in the garbage," he said. "And I know the perfect place to put garbage."

The men were enraged.

"Kill the fool!"

One of the drunkards shouted the order.

Without hesitation, the group shifted their attention from the woman to Lin Feng.

They rushed him from all directions, fists flying toward his face and body.

Some swung wildly while others attempted to grab him.

Unfortunately for them, they might as well have been attacking a ghost.

Pak!

Pak!

Pak!

Lin Feng moved with effortless grace.

His body flowed between their attacks like a dancer performing on stage.

Every punch missed by inches, every kick struck nothing but empty air.

To the attackers, it felt as though they were trying to catch the wind.

Meanwhile, Lin Feng calmly weaved through them.

A light tap landed on one man’s neck.

The thug’s eyes rolled back as he collapsed to the ground.

Another tap.

A second man crumpled like a puppet whose strings had been cut.

Then a third.

And a fourth.

One after another, the drunken men dropped to the pavement without understanding what had happened.

Lin Feng’s strikes weren’t powerful enough to kill, but they were more than enough to send them into a deep sleep.

Within moments, the once-aggressive gang lay scattered across the street like piles of discarded trash.

Lin Feng stood alone in the center of them, not even breathing heavily.

To him, dealing with these men had been easier than taking a casual stroll through the park.

A moment later, Lin Feng looked at Mrs. Fox.

The beautiful woman had finally reached her limit.

The fear, humiliation, and stress she had been holding back came crashing down all at once.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she broke down and cried.

Lin Feng did not try to stop her. Sometimes people needed to let their emotions out.

He simply stood nearby and waited patiently.

Several minutes passed before her sobs gradually weakened.

Only then did Lin Feng speak.

"Let’s get out of here."

Mrs. Fox nodded.

Lin Feng led the lovely woman away from the scene.

They walked through the city streets until they found a nearby hotel.

After renting a private room, he ordered some food and a cup of hot coffee for her.

The warm meal and peaceful environment worked wonders.

Little by little, the color returned to Mrs. Fox’s face.

The trembling in her body subsided, and the fear in her eyes gradually faded.

She wrapped both hands around the coffee cup and looked at Lin Feng with gratitude.

"Thank you so much," Mrs. Fox said with teary eyes. "I don’t even know how to thank you."

Lin Feng smiled faintly.

"It was nothing. I was simply at the right place at the right time. Anyone would have done the same."

Mrs. Fox shook her head.

She did not believe him.

Many people had heard her cries for help earlier. Some had even witnessed what was happening.

Yet every one of them had chosen to walk away, afraid of getting involved.

Only Lin Feng had stepped forward.

Only Lin Feng had been willing to risk himself for a complete stranger.

As she looked at him, she suddenly realized something.

This wasn’t the first time they had met.

In fact, this was already the third time she had encountered him.

If Lin Feng had been an ugly or suspicious-looking man, she might have thought he was some kind of stalker or creep.

However, his appearance made such thoughts difficult to maintain.

He was easily the most handsome man she had ever met in her life.

Combined with the kindness he had shown her, her guard naturally lowered around him.

A comfortable silence settled between them.

Then Mrs. Fox spoke softly.

"I don’t even know your name."

Lin Feng looked up from his coffee.

"Lin Feng."

He smiled.

"My name is Lin Feng."

Mrs. Fox froze.

Her beautiful eyes widened slightly.

"Lin Feng?"

The name stirred something in her memory.

Months ago, she had a neighbor with that exact same name.

He had been one of the kindest people she had ever met, always helping others without expecting anything in return.

For a moment, she found herself staring at the man before her.

What a coincidence.

Or perhaps...

Was it really a coincidence at all?

As if Lin Feng had read her mind, he suddenly said something most curious.

"There are no coincidences in this life, Mrs. Fox. Everything happens for a reason. Fate has a funny way of making the impossible possible in the most unexpected ways."

Lin Feng slowly rose from his seat and walked toward her.

Mrs. Fox was initially surprised that he knew her name, but that thought quickly faded as he drew closer.

She could smell his fresh scent, and his presence seemed to awaken all of her senses at once.

Her heartbeat unconsciously quickened.

Lin Feng stopped in front of her and looked into her eyes.

"Tell me, Mrs. Fox," he said softly, "do you believe in fate?"
