Chapter 106: Chapter 105: Absorbing the pills, rapid recovery.

Before Lin Qingyue could leave, Chen Yuan called out to her once more.

"Wait a moment."

She turned around immediately. "Does Senior need anything else?"

Chen Yuan raised his hand, and a faint ripple of spiritual energy spread through the room. A thread of divine sense separated from his weakened consciousness and slipped into her body.

Lin Qingyue blinked in surprise before looking herself over, taking several steps back as she looked over her feet too.

"What was that?"

"A small precaution," Chen Yuan explained. "I’ve left a portion of my divine sense within you. If you encounter danger on your journey, it should be enough to protect your life."

Her expression softened with gratitude, and she bowed deeply. "Thank you, Senior!"

Chen Yuan waved his hand. "Go on. Don’t keep me waiting too long."

"Yes! I’ll return as quickly as possible!"

Lin Qingyue then gave him one last glance before turning toward the door.

Although she was eager to complete her errand, she couldn’t help feeling a little worried about leaving him alone in his current condition.

He had only just regained consciousness, and his injuries were still far from healed.

To that, she turned back once again, and looked towards his face, "S-senior, make sure not to move around too much. T-the wounds are still healing, a-and it will take awhile before you can move freely."

"I know, don’t worry."

Chen Yuan smiled, his eyes drifting over her face, "I am stronger than what you think, be at ease."

Lin Qingyue nodded, and made her way to the front door.

After making sure the door was properly closed behind her, she descended the wooden steps and hurried into the snow-covered forest.

Her figure passed between the trees, her pale-blue cloak fluttering in the cold wind, until she disappeared from sight.

Inside the house, Chen Yuan watched her departure through his divine sense before withdrawing his attention.

He wasn’t concerned that she would run away with his spiritual stones or betray him.

After spending the past several days observing her, he had gained a reasonable understanding of her personality.

Lin Qingyue was an oddity among cultivators nowadays, someone who could be tempted by a fortune yet still choose to follow her own principles when it mattered.

Whether that made her foolish or admirable was a question he would leave for another day.

For now, he had something else to attend to.

"Where did she put my token... "

Chen Yuan shifted slightly against the bedding, then attempted to locate the token.

His weakened divine sense spread through the house, passing over the worktable, the shelves of medicinal jars, and the scattered tools Lin Qingyue used.

He soon found it.

The token had been placed carefully inside a small wooden drawer beneath the table, likely moved there when Lin Qingyue had cleaned the room and changed his bedding.

Chen Yuan extended his divine sense toward it, and the token rose from the drawer before gliding through the air toward him.

He caught it between his fingers and examined it briefly.

The token was created from several rare first grade materials. Its function was mainly first by instilling the user’s divine sense into it, and connected to the other tokens of the family members.

Allowing each other to sense the person’s whereabout whenever it was activated.

Chen Yan hired several first grade formation master to create these tokens, and gave almost everyone in the family one.

Although the connection was not intended for constant use, it was more than sufficient for sending a signal over such a great distance.

Chen Yuan circulated a trace of spiritual energy into its surface.

The token immediately began to glow, its markings lighting up one after another as a faint vibration passed through the material.

Far away, within the ancestral hall of the Chen Family, Chen Feng was sitting cross-legged before a row of ancestral tablets.

The hall was quiet, with only the gentle flickering of incense flames disturbing the stillness. He had been meditating in silence when a familiar pulse suddenly reached him.

His eyes snapped open.

The token resting inside his sleeve had begun to glow, its surface shimmering with a faint light. Then he reached for it, and a hint of relief crossed his face.

"He is finally making contact, he’s alive... "

Chen Feng was relieved, and a smile appeared over his face. He then studied the token for a moment before turning his head slightly toward the left.

"Yueran."

A woman’s voice answered from nearby.

"What is it?"

Chen Yueran was sitting over the air not far from him, looking considerably more relaxed than she had been over the past several days.

The day when Chen Yuan was in trouble, she didnt escape right away, but rather, she blended in among the crowd and waited until it was the right time to exit the imperial city.

From then on, after she returned home, she had remained within the Chen Family’s ancestral grounds while waiting for news of Chen Yuan.

Chen Feng held up the glowing token.

"Chen Yuan is safe. We don’t need to worry anymore."

Chen Yueran immediately stood.

"Really? How do you know?"

"His token has just been activated."

Chen Feng closed his eyes again and focused his attention on the connection between his token and Chen Yuan’s.

The faint resonance allowed him to determine the general direction of the signal, though not the precise location since it seemed to be rather far away.

After a brief moment, he opened his eyes and looked toward the distant north.

"It seems he’s in the Northern Region now."

"The Northern Region?" Chen Yueran repeated, her brows rising. "What in the world is he doing all the way over there?"

"That is something you can ask him yourself."

Chen Feng tossed his token toward her.

"Go and bring him back. His injuries are probably serious, so don’t waste time on unnecessary detours."

Chen Yueran caught the token and examined it before looking back at him with an aggrieved expression.

"Why do you have a token, but I don’t? You could have made one for me too!"

Chen Feng gave her a sideways glance.

"You spend half your time running around like a child who can’t sit still. Every time someone tries to find you, you’re already somewhere else. How exactly were we supposed to make a communication token for you when you couldn’t even be bothered to stay in one place?"

Chen Yueran puffed out her cheeks.

"That’s not fair! I can stay in one place when I want to!"

"Of course you can," Chen Feng replied dryly. "For about half a day."

"Old man!"

Despite her complaint, she tucked the token away and turned toward the entrance. A moment later, spiritual energy surged beneath her feet, lifting her into the air.

"I’ll bring him back! You just wait and see!"

Her voice drifted back into the ancestral hall as she flew beyond the Chen Family’s grounds, heading north while following the faint connection between the two tokens.

Chen Feng watched her disappear into the sky before shaking his head with a quiet sigh.

"Those two..."

A faint smile lingered on his face as he closed his eyes and resumed his meditation.

----

By the time night fell, Lin Qingyue finally returned to the wooden house, carrying several bags filled with her purchases inside her ring.

"Senior, I’m back!"

She hurried inside, brushed the snow from her cloak, and began placing the jade bottles on the table.

Before long, hundreds of bottles had been arranged in neat rows, each containing sixteen second-grade Qi Replenishing Pills.

The lowest grade among them was mid-grade, with some of considerably better quality.

"I visited every pill shop in the city, but this was the best I could find," she explained.

Chen Yuan glanced at the bottles and nodded. "That will do."

He immediately opened the bottles with his divine sense and began absorbing the pills.

Their medicinal power dissolved rapidly within his body, replenishing his depleted spiritual energy as he consumed one batch after another.

Lin Qingyue watched in growing disbelief as the pile of bottles steadily diminished. By the time Chen Yuan finally slowed down, almost half of them had been emptied.

She swallowed nervously.

Just how vast was a High Lord’s Qi ocean?

Even half the spiritual energy contained in a single pill could overwhelm her dantian if she attempted to absorb it at once, yet Chen Yuan had consumed thousands without showing any difficulty.

She might be greedy, but she wasn’t an idiot. She knew better than to compare herself with a cultivator of his level.

Over the following days, however, it wasn’t Chen Yuan’s spiritual energy that astonished her most, but the speed at which his body recovered.

It was almost like, those qi replenishing pills became the trigger for his rapid recovery.

His fractured bones gradually reformed, the wounds covering his body closed, and his damaged skin returned to normal.

Injuries that should have required weeks, months, or even years to heal were disappearing at a pace she could scarcely believe.

Lin Qingyue repeatedly consulted the book her master had left her, searching for an explanation.

It contained detailed information about the healing process of Foundation Establishment cultivators, yet none of its descriptions came close to what she was witnessing.

Yes, there had been mentioned of healing techniques that were capable of healing rapidly. But those techniques so called rapid healing were still in the expected range compared to what Chen Yuan was currently demonstrating.

She would examine Chen Yuan, look down at the book, then examine him again, increasingly doubtful of her own knowledge.

Chen Yuan noticed her confusion but offered no explanation. Occasionally, his gaze would drift toward the book, allowing him to recognise it as a second-grade Spiritual Herbalist inheritance.

It was likely a legacy left behind by her late master, and judging by the content that had pointed directly to the foundation Estbalishment realm, her master had probably reached the same.

As for his recovery, Chen Yuan himself had underestimated the Nameless Hand’s capabilities.

The nature attribute was essentially a life attribute. With sufficient spiritual energy, it could accelerate the restoration of his body to an astonishing degree.

What had once seemed like catastrophic injuries were gradually being repaired, his bones and flesh returning to their original condition.

Even he hadn’t expected the effect to be this powerful.

For Lin Qingyue, however, it was nothing short of a miracle.

She had spent years studying medicinal herbs and the human body, yet this single patient had overturned much of what she understood in only a few days.

And no matter how many times she consulted her master’s book, she still couldn’t find an explanation for him.
