Chapter 219: Chapter 148: You’re Not Allowed to Touch My Big Honeybee
Shu Yao went next door and came up empty. It wasn’t surprising at all.
Qin Shiwei hadn’t come back last night. It seemed like he was avoiding her.
Considering he might be busy, Shu Yao didn’t initiate a projection call. Instead, she sent a text message with a suggestive tone:
"Darling, I need you~ And not in bed this time~"
The man immediately replied: "Do we not do enough out of bed?"
Shu Yao was speechless. ’He’s always so quick with the innuendos!’
"It’s just not *that* kind of need."
Qin Shiwei took the initiative and sent a projection call. "Did something happen?"
Shu Yao explained how her flying privileges had been revoked and how she was now being targeted by the Zone One Traffic Police Headquarters, adding a little extra spice to the story.
When he heard the Zone One Traffic Police Headquarters was involved, Qin Shiwei’s expression darkened, and a chill gathered in his dark green eyes.
’The Austin family’s influence is not to be underestimated. But I didn’t expect them to have infiltrated even the Zone One Traffic Police Headquarters.’
’It seems that while I was away from the Federation, these sons of bitches did a lot of groundwork to pave the way for their new master.’
"Boo hoo hoo~" Shu Yao put on her best damsel-in-distress act. "Darling, if I get arrested, you’ll have to come visit me in the interstellar prison~"
The corners of Qin Shiwei’s lips curved upward slightly, his deep gaze filled with a heart-melting affection that could drown a person.
"Yaoyao, I’m very happy that you thought of me when you ran into trouble."
Shu Yao’s gaze flickered to the side, a hint of guilt in her eyes.
’In that situation, she hadn’t actually thought to ask Qin Shiwei for help. It was her younger uncle who first suggested she turn to her husband.’
"Actually... to be honest, it’s not like I’m completely helpless in this situation. But the solutions I can think of are all... illegal." Shu Yao didn’t want to implicate anyone, but asking Qin Shiwei for help seemed to be the only easy way through this. "I’m new here. You have to tell me what I should do."
Qin Shiwei pondered for a moment.
"The modifications you made to the Flying Machine—are the traces obvious?"
"I covered the external traces with a stealth coating, but it wouldn’t hold up to close scrutiny. Even if someone saw the traces, a layman wouldn’t know what they were looking at."
Shu Yao took a breath and said more seriously, "There are no obvious flaws inside the Flying Machine’s cockpit, but I did update the operating system. The main changes are internal. If you take it apart, you’ll see my modifications everywhere."
’Sounds like she put a lot of work into it.’
Qin Shiwei couldn’t help but want to see her handiwork for himself.
"Don’t let the Zone One Traffic Police Headquarters inspect the cockpit. Wait for me." He suddenly brought up something else. "By the way, that damaged Mecha the Austin family reported missing in the abandoned building district... you have it, don’t you?"
"Yes, yes." It was still sitting in her storage space.
Qin Shiwei said, "The investigation team hasn’t found any issues with the machines they’ve inspected over the past two days. The Mecha in your possession might be the key to finding something."
After stowing the Mecha in her storage space, Shu Yao hadn’t given it a second thought. She had only collected it to use as evidence later on.
’Then again, even if I prove this Mecha has a problem, knowing the Austin family’s usual bullshit, those bastards would never admit to it.’
After ending the call, Shu Yao retrieved the Mecha from her storage space.
Seeing a damaged Mecha materialize in the courtyard, [First Generation] tilted its mechanical head, somewhat perplexed.
Shu Yao felt a headache coming on.
’To find out what was wrong with this Mecha, I’d have to take it apart and analyze it piece by piece.’
A faint beam of light shot out from [First Generation]’s mechanical eyes, scanning the damaged Mecha.
"Combat-type Mecha. Serial number: unknown. Damage level: severe. All parameters appear to have been wiped."
Shu Yao stared at [First Generation] in astonishment. "Wow, you’re this incredible? I thought you were more of a nanny-bot. In that case, could you please take a look for me and see what’s different about this Mecha compared to others?"
"It would be my honor, Madam." [First Generation] resumed scanning. A moment later, the beam of light from its mechanical eyes settled on a single point near the Mecha’s ’heart.’ It sounded somewhat puzzled. "There is something glowing in there."
This should have been impossible for a scrapped Mecha that had already lost all function.
[First Generation] extended an arm. A laser shot out from the tip of one of its mechanical fingers, cutting a triangular opening in the location of the Mecha’s heart.
It pried open the triangular piece of casing.
A crystalline object, about the size of a human fingernail, was revealed.
The crystal, which emanated a haunting blue light, seemed to deeply fascinate [First Generation].
