Chapter 91: Chapter 90: This Little Thing Isn’t Cute at All

Defending your child in front of strangers was one thing, but when her child misbehaved and deserved a spanking, Shu Yao never held back!

You can’t let a child’s bad habits go unchecked!

"Mommy told you to come down. Why didn’t you listen?!"

"SOB... I wasn’t being bad..." Xiao Juzi looked up at his mother’s angry face, feeling wronged and scared. He clutched his stinging bottom with both little hands, tears streaming down his face as he sobbed, "I heard you call me, Mommy, and I came down right away!"

"Not only disobedient, but a liar too!" Shu Yao scolded sharply.

Xiao Juzi’s tear-filled eyes were brimming with innocence. "Mommy, sob... I wasn’t being bad... I didn’t lie..."

"So I’m wronging you?" Shu Yao’s stern expression was tinged with anger. "How many times did I call for you from down there? Where are your ears?! You get so caught up in playing you forget your own name! Have I been too easy on you lately?!"

Xiao Juzi sniffled even harder. Clutching his bottom, he took a small step forward, his tearful voice a little louder than before.

"Mommy, I really didn’t! Sob, sob... I only heard you call me once, and I listened right away... and came down... Sob, sob..."

Shu Yao’s expression softened, but her anger hadn’t completely faded. She was still frowning.

’Could it be that it was too noisy down there for him to hear?’

’No... my son is a Beastman. His hearing is exceptionally advanced. He should be able to pick out my voice no matter how noisy it is.’

’But he doesn’t seem to be lying, either.’

She knew her own son.

Xiao Juzi slowly drew closer, grabbing her pant leg with his small hand and clenching it tight. Fat tears of grievance went PLOP, PLOP as he cried and repeated over and over:

"Mommy, I wasn’t being bad, I didn’t lie..."

Shu Yao’s heart clenched, but she kept a stern face. She knelt down to wipe away her little boy’s tears.

The little guy buried his face in her arms, crying even louder and more pitifully than before.

Shu Yao said, "If Mommy was wrong about you, I’ll apologize. But I really did call for you several times from down there."

Xiao Juzi didn’t think his mother was lying, but he also couldn’t explain why he hadn’t heard her calling for him earlier.

Just then, Qin Shiwei came forward.

Xiao Juzi, who was already upset, became even more so the moment he saw him.

Qin Shiwei knew the child was still very resistant and wary of him. That was precisely why he hadn’t tried to help earlier when Shu Yao was calling for Xiao Juzi to get out of the Kunlun No.2’s cockpit.

If he had spoken up then, the little rascal would have only been more defiant.

The more he tried to help, the worse it would have gotten.

"Yaoyao, I pulled the surveillance footage from the Kunlun No.2’s cockpit." Qin Shiwei used his Light Brain to play a video of Xiao Juzi inside the Mecha’s cockpit.

The video showed the little guy’s face filled with excitement, marveling at everything inside the cockpit. He clambered into the pilot’s seat, which was much too big for him, and sat up straight against the backrest. His short legs lay flat on the seat, and he had to stretch his arms to their absolute limit just so his little hands could barely touch the armrests.

A moment later, his high-pitched, silly giggles echoed in the cockpit.

It was clear the little boy was completely immersed in his own world.

The noise from outside was considerable, yet it didn’t seem to affect him in the slightest.

Watching the video, Xiao Juzi’s ears twitched. He keenly picked up his mother’s voice from the noisy background audio. But in the video, he was just giggling foolishly, his little face filled with wonder.

He snuggled into his mother’s arms and mumbled, "Mommy, I’m sorry... I didn’t hear you... If I had, I would have listened and come right down!"

From the little guy’s reaction in the video, Shu Yao could see that her son really hadn’t been lying. He had just been so happy and absorbed in his play.

Shu Yao kept a stern expression, and her tone was firm, but her heart had softened. "Was Mommy right to spank you?"

Xiao Juzi glanced at the video, then at his hand covering his bottom. After a moment’s hesitation, he turned back to his mom and nodded.

Shu Yao’s expression relaxed, and she stroked his little head. "But it was also wrong for Mommy to say you were lying. I should apologize for that, too. I’m sorry."

Xiao Juzi threw his arms around her and hugged her tight.

The next second, his feet left the ground as he was lifted into the air.

The man’s deep, calm voice sounded from above his head. "You made your mother angry. That makes you the one in the wrong."

’I don’t want to admit it, but that meanie is right.’

With a guilty look on his face, Xiao Juzi apologized to Shu Yao again.

"Mommy, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have made you angry..."

Qin Shiwei was slightly taken aback.

He’d expected the little guy to argue with him, not admit his mistake so readily.

He suddenly remembered a similar situation at the Imperial Hospital. He had been a little stern then, too, and the little guy had immediately deferred to Shu Yao.

"Alright, let’s go to the exhibition hall in Zone C!" Shu Yao took the initiative and took Qin Shiwei’s hand.

The man’s mind went blank for a second. As one of his hands intertwined with Shu Yao’s fingers, he unconsciously loosened his grip with the other.

THUD!

A certain little someone fell face-first onto the ground.

He scrambled up, blinked innocently, and then his mouth opened wide as he burst into tears!

"WAAAAAH! Mommy, it hurts!"

Shu Yao rushed to scoop him into her arms.

"Quick, let Mommy see. Where did you get hurt?"

Still crying, Xiao Juzi pointed to his nose.

Fortunately, a Beastman’s body was quite sturdy, so the small fall hadn’t done much damage to the little boy.

But his feelings were hurt!

Seeing that Xiao Juzi wasn’t seriously hurt, Shu Yao couldn’t help but scold the man. "How could you drop my son!"

"I..." Qin Shiwei was at a loss for words.

The moment Shu Yao took his hand, his world had narrowed to just her. He’d completely forgotten he was still holding the little guy in his other hand...

"Sob, sob... Mommy, it hurts~"

’That meanie really is a meanie!’

’I love seeing him get all pathetic when Mommy scolds him!’

"Aren’t you going to apologize to him?" Shu Yao said with a stern face, shooting Qin Shiwei a look.

Qin Shiwei immediately realized she was just pretending to be angry for her son’s benefit.

Qin Shiwei pursed his lips.

’Apologizing to the kid at the hospital for the first time... it wasn’t as hard as I’d imagined, now that I think about it.’

"I’m... sorry," he said, the words coming out a bit stiffly.

Shu Yao immediately started coaxing her son. "See? Daddy apologized. Won’t you forgive him?"

"Hmph!" The little guy huffed through his tears, turning his head away to show he wasn’t accepting the apology.

"Alright, alright, let’s go see the next exhibit."

Shu Yao quickly diverted his attention to something new, carrying him toward the Zone C exhibition hall. She didn’t forget to shoot the man trailing behind a "keep up" look.

Qin Shiwei clenched and unclenched his fist, looking with some displeasure at Xiao Juzi nestled in Shu Yao’s arms.

He had indeed wronged the little guy just now.

’So, I’ll let it slide this time.’

’Let him enjoy being in his mother’s arms for now.’

Qin Shiwei quickened his pace to catch up. He saw the little rascal peeking over his mother’s shoulder and making a face at him, and he faltered for a moment.

’That little brat isn’t cute at all!’

Xiao Juzi clung to Shu Yao’s shoulder. "Mommy, let’s go faster! Don’t let that meanie catch up!"

"How about you get down and walk yourself, then?"

"Nooo~" He loved it when his mommy held him!
