Chapter 547: Chapter 547: How Is a Place Like This Any Different from the Cold Palace?

After a pause, Adrian Quincy added, "Yara is doing all this simply to get you, Grandpa, to plead on her behalf. She wants to avoid a ten-year prison sentence, and she’s not afraid to repeatedly tarnish Claire’s reputation to do so."

Old Master Quincy’s breathing grew ragged. "That wretched girl! When did she develop such a wicked heart!"

Adrian Quincy said, "Grandpa, you raised me yourself. Please trust my judgment. The woman I’ve chosen isn’t as bad as you think."

Old Master Quincy took a soft breath, his tone softening. "The young lady and I just had a talk. At first, she seemed to lack confidence and her position wasn’t very clear. But the more she spoke, the more assertive she became. I do trust your judgment, of course. You two should have a second child soon... It’s just a shame your grandfather won’t be here to see it."

"Grandpa, Claire and I have been trying," Adrian Quincy emphasized.

A smile finally appeared on Old Master Quincy’s face. "You little rascal. You’ve finally done something to make your grandpa proud. You need to be more proactive. Don’t leave it to the girl to initiate everything."

"I know."

"Alright, alright, I’m fine now. You should hurry after the young lady. I’m afraid I just made her angry, and she left..." Old Master Quincy sighed, feeling a pang of regret.

Adrian Quincy gave a few final instructions before leaving.

When Claire Sinclair returned home, she was still feeling dejected and didn’t know what to do.

Suddenly, she remembered something. She picked up her phone and called Ethan Kingsley. "Mr. Kingsley, I’m sorry to bother you, but do you know where Third Miss Tanner is? I’d like to go see her."

Ethan Kingsley seemed to be in a good mood; his voice sounded relaxed. "Little Cutie is at The West Garden Villa. I’ll send you the address in a moment. There’s a landline there, so you can call that number to reach her anytime."

"The West Garden Villa?" Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. It didn’t sound like a very nice place.

Ethan Kingsley explained, "It’s a property I bought a few years ago in the West District. It’s been empty for a few years. I’m having Little Cutie stay there for the time being and have hired maids to look after her."

’Just as I thought...’

’What’s the difference between a place like that and the Cold Palace?’

Claire Sinclair said irritably, "You just dumped her in a place like that. When are you planning on visiting her?"

"I pass by there every day on my way to and from work."

"And?"

Ethan Kingsley’s good mood instantly vanished. "Claire Sinclair, no woman has ever made me care this much. Don’t you dare try to control me with that sanctimonious attitude of yours."

Claire Sinclair realized she had overstepped. But from Ivy Tanner’s perspective, she felt she hadn’t done nearly enough. Still, she knew she couldn’t say any more.

"I’m sorry. I know I have no right to interfere in your affairs. I just feel sorry for Third Miss Tanner. Spending her whole life in a place like that... don’t you think that’s a terribly sad life?"

Ethan Kingsley fell silent. It seemed her words had struck a nerve.

’An ambitious man would never give up his empire for a foolish woman. And yet, from his high position, he couldn’t just get rid of her either.’

Claire Sinclair, of course, understood the man’s position. Third Miss Tanner’s situation was truly pitiful. Utterly pitiful.

With a sigh, she decided not to say anything else and hung up.

A moment later, Ethan Kingsley sent an address.

When Claire Sinclair saw the address, she realized it wasn’t far from her home—just across the river. The straight-line distance was less than two kilometers, but it would take a bit longer to drive there.

She made a decision. Since it was the last day of her time off, she would go see Third Miss Tanner right away.
