Chapter 577: Chapter 577: So You’re a Straight Man

Adrian Quincy had found this female lifeguard from god-knows-where. She stood at attention the whole time, as motionless as a wooden statue.

Wearing a conservative swimsuit, Claire Sinclair soaked alone in the enormous hot spring, so bored she was about to fall asleep.

When she couldn’t stand it any longer, she had someone bring her phone, propped it on the edge of the spring, and sent a video call request straight to The Great Demon King Quincy.

The call went through instantly.

Claire immediately started to complain. "See this? I’m all alone. It’s so boring."

Adrian Quincy gazed at her, shrouded in steam with only her head and shoulders visible, and was immensely pleased. "You’re taking a bath. Who else did you expect to be with you?"

"I’m soaking in a hot spring, not taking a bath!!!" ’This guy is unbelievable,’ Claire thought.

The corners of Adrian Quincy’s lips tilted upward. "Same difference, in my opinion."

"I’m just now realizing it—you’re completely clueless!"

"Mm-hm," Adrian Quincy admitted freely.

’For her sake, what did it matter if he had to be an iron-willed, clueless man?’

Claire rolled her eyes at him. "Mr. Quincy, you’re ruining my plans!"

Adrian Quincy brushed it off. "It’s just a bath. It’s not that big a deal."

Claire: "..."

’What else could she possibly say?’

Annoyed, Claire hung up the video call. She was no longer in the mood for her "bath," so she wrapped a towel around herself, went back to the changing room, and put her clothes back on.

As she walked out of the hot springs area, she saw a group of women outside protesting:

"Why won’t you let us in!"

"We’ve already paid!"

"Exactly! I’m leaving tomorrow. The whole reason I came here was to use the hot springs, and now you won’t let us in. What is the meaning of this?"

"We demand an explanation!"

"Let us in!"

’Oh, crap!’

Feeling guilty, Claire didn’t dare to look at them. She kept her head down and tried to slip away silently.

The crowd froze for a second when they saw her, but they quickly put two and two together.

"Isn’t that Claire Sinclair?"

"I think you’re right. It’s Claire Sinclair, the star reporter for the Astoria Daily!"

"What’s she doing coming out of there?"

Just then, several more people—both men and women—emerged from the women’s hot springs area. All were dressed in black suits, and with their sturdy builds and professional posture, they were obviously bodyguards.

"One, two, three, four, five... Five bodyguards!"

"As expected of Young Master Quincy’s girlfriend. She takes that many bodyguards with her just to go out."

"So, does that mean they weren’t letting us in because Claire Sinclair was in there?"

"Talk about putting on airs. It’s not like her family owns this place. How can she just monopolize a public resource like that?"

The person had barely finished speaking when the general manager of Hot Springs Mountain squeezed out from the crowd, shouting, "Everyone, everyone! My apologies! We had a surprise inspection from management, so we had to temporarily suspend the hot spring service. You can all go in now! To make it up to all of you, we will be staying open for an extra two hours tonight!"

"Oh, so it was a surprise inspection!"

"Good thing it’s open again, or this whole trip would’ve been a waste."

"Stop talking and let’s go! Hurry!"

...

Only after she could no longer hear the voices behind her did Claire Sinclair let out a long sigh of relief. She began to walk leisurely toward the accommodation area.

As she entered the lobby on the ground floor, Joan Jacobs approached her with a smile. "Miss Sinclair, what a coincidence!"

Claire stopped and replied politely, "So it is."

After exchanging greetings, Joan Jacobs extended an enthusiastic invitation. "I have a few friends over at the lounge. I’d like to invite you for a drink. Would you care to join us, Miss Sinclair?"

Claire nodded readily. "Of course."
