Adrian Quincy gazed into her glistening eyes, his tone gentle. "The Woodforest Community story isn’t the same as the articles you’ve worked on before. Don’t get involved. Just leave it to Henry Hartwell."

"But..." Claire Sinclair couldn’t suppress the itch of curiosity.

Woodforest Community was just too mysterious. Any reporter with a sense of duty would want to dive right in.

"Claire, for the baby’s sake, just listen to me."

"Alright, then." Claire Sinclair was finally persuaded. "I’ll listen to you."

Adrian Quincy smiled faintly and ran his hand through her hair. "Since you’re not free tomorrow, I’ll head back to the mansion. Get off work early tomorrow, and I’ll make you something delicious."

"Okay!" She was so excited!

It was just a shame his wife was pregnant. Otherwise, looking into those captivating eyes, Adrian Quincy definitely wouldn’t have let her off so easily.

Claire Sinclair arrived at the newspaper office right on time. The first thing she did was walk into Teacher Hartwell’s office and place the morning’s newly printed edition on his desk.

Theo Rhodes came in from outside, pulling the door partially shut behind him but not closing it completely.

The young man was beaming this morning. He walked up to Claire Sinclair and whispered, "Master, is it time for our fight now?"

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "How do you want to do this?"

A roguish grin touched Theo Rhodes’s lips as he suddenly shouted, "Master, are you serious? You told me yesterday it was due next Monday, not today!"

Claire Sinclair crouched down, playing along perfectly. "I never said that! The article is due to the client any minute now. If you can’t produce it, where am I supposed to find another one to submit?"

Theo Rhodes refused to back down. "Well, I haven’t written it. You can either write it yourself right now, or you can tell the client to wait."

"What kind of attitude is that? Have you no respect for me as your master?"

"Hah, ’Master’? If you weren’t Young Master Quincy’s girlfriend, you think a young master like me would deign to call you that? You should take a good look at what you’re really worth!"

"What did you say?!" Claire Sinclair "erupted" in anger, her face flushing red as she feigned fury.

Theo Rhodes chuckled. "Didn’t hear me clearly? Then I’ll say it again. An airheaded, influencer-type reporter like you with no real talent... I’m done with this. Boss around someone else. Goodbye!"

After speaking, Theo Rhodes wiped the smirk off his face, turned, and stormed out of the office, slamming the door hard behind him.

Claire Sinclair shouted at the door, "Go back to wherever you crawled out from! You’re fired!"

After shouting, she let out a soft breath.

It was the first time in her life she’d ever had such a fierce argument with someone. Even though it was just an act, her emotions had still been stirred up.

Claire Sinclair took several deep breaths to calm herself before walking over to open the door.

When she walked into the main office area, a colleague immediately asked with concern, "Claire Sinclair, what did that kid do to provoke you?"

"Yeah, why were you guys fighting? I saw him pack up his things and leave. He’s not really quitting, is he?"

Claire Sinclair said, feigning indignation, "An arrogant and conceited top student like him can go wherever he pleases. I can’t mentor someone like that, so just let him go."

"What? I never thought he was that kind of person. He always seemed so polite."

"I’ve never really interacted with him, so I don’t know what he’s like. But I always felt he kind of just does his own thing and doesn’t really like to talk to other people."

"Claire Sinclair, don’t be angry. It’s not worth it over a rich brat like him."

"Right, right, don’t be mad. It’s not good for your health to get so worked up..."
