Chapter 217: Chapter 194: Second Battle Home Run (Part 2)

"Alright, we’re heading out then. Uncle, Auntie, you two get some rest as well."

"Alright then."

Zhao Wendong and the others left the old house. Since it was snowing, the four of them walked quickly, heading toward the two houses by the sea.

"Third Brother, are we still going into the mountains tomorrow?"

Zhao Wenwu was still thinking about going up the mountain to hunt. He found it boring to stay at home.

"It’s snowing, and it doesn’t look like it’ll stop by tomorrow. Let’s not go for now. The Little New Year’s market is coming up soon. We need to get ready to go to the market and have a good New Year."

"Oh."

Zhao Wenwu was a bit glum. Holing up for the winter wasn’t nearly as interesting as going up the mountain. When Zhao Wendong had just been reborn, he had run into Zhao Wenwu outside. Even when he couldn’t get enough to eat, Wenwu insisted on wandering around outside rather than staying indoors.

"For the next few days, I’m leaving the sparrow trapping to you, Second Brother!"

"Alright, sounds good!"

Zhao Wenwu’s eyes lit up. As long as he had something to do, he was happy.

When they reached the Educated Youth Point, the four of them said their goodbyes and went to their respective rooms. Zhao Wendong and Lin Zhiyin helped brush the snow off each other. The kang was still warm to the touch. Whenever Song Xiaoyu lit the fire for her own kang, she would always light theirs as well.

"I’m exhausted. Let’s go to sleep, honey!"

Zhao Wendong started to take off his clothes, ready to get on the kang and sleep, but Lin Zhiyin bit her lip and said softly.

"The kang is a little cold. Let’s heat it up some more."

"Alright."

Although Zhao Wendong thought the kang was the perfect temperature for sleeping, since Lin Zhiyin said it was cold, he’d just have to light the fire. He went to the woodpile behind the house, brought back a basket of firewood, and started the fire. Lately, the Zhao Wendong household hadn’t needed to prepare their own firewood. The militia members always liked to come over and help them split logs. After they were done, they would stack the wood neatly against the back wall of the house, looking just like a solid wall itself.

Watching Zhao Wendong sit on the small stool and tend to the fire, Lin Zhiyin felt her heart beat faster and faster. She was so nervous she was on the verge of tears. She tried hard to recall her mother’s words, forcing herself to calm down. Zhao Wendong had brought her parents back today, and she truly wanted to thank him properly. But besides herself, she had nothing to give. So tonight, she would officially become Zhao Wendong’s wife.

"There, I added a few more logs. Let’s go to bed."

"Mm."

Feeling the temperature in the room and on the kang steadily rise, Lin Zhiyin nodded softly. She blew out the kerosene lamp, and the two lay side-by-side. The firewood in the stove pit crackled continuously, its flames illuminating the area around the stove, the orange-red light dancing and leaping.

"Wendong, thank you."

Lin Zhiyin suddenly spoke, her voice as soft as water in a hot spring. Zhao Wendong just laughed, not thinking much of it.

"Hey, you’re my wife now. We’ve already registered our marriage. What’s with all the thank yous? Your parents are my parents, aren’t they? Now that they’re back, all that’s left is the wedding and for you to change how you address them."

"Then when are we getting married?"

"Huh? Are you in a hurry?"

Lin Zhiyin was silent for a moment, then her voice grew even softer.

"Yes. I’m in a hurry."

"Then let’s do it after the New Year, before spring. We’ll pick an auspicious day. How about that?"

"Okay."

Lin Zhiyin nodded happily, her voice carrying a seductive charm Zhao Wendong had never heard before. She moved her head closer to him, then snuggled her entire body into his arms.

The kang was scorching hot, the fire in the stove crackled, and the heat between their bodies began to rise.

"Wendong."

"Hm?"

Zhao Wendong lowered his head and met Lin Zhiyin’s deep, beautiful eyes. They were like a black hole in the universe, threatening to pull him in completely. Lin Zhiyin said nothing more, slowly bringing her face closer and closing her eyes.

A playful rhythm of rubbing circles and kneading soft mounds began, repeating over and over.

Zhao Wendong looked at Lin Zhiyin, a little uncertain.

"Is it going to work this time?"

"It will!"

Zhao Wendong chose to believe her. And for some reason, this time was completely different from the last; things actually went very smoothly.

"Ah!"

Lin Zhiyin bit down hard on Zhao Wendong’s shoulder, so forcefully that it drew blood.

She wrapped her limbs tightly around Zhao Wendong, holding him so he couldn’t move an inch. Zhao Wendong waited patiently until she had completely relaxed before he resumed his normal rhythm.

The hour-long "concert" passed by quickly.

"How did it go so smoothly this time!"

Zhao Wendong said between heavy breaths, then he instantly realized what had happened. He remembered how Lin Zhiyin and Wang Lulu had stepped out for a moment just before they came back.

"Oh, so it was my mother-in-law who gave you lessons, hehe."

Lin Zhiyin was nestled in Zhao Wendong’s arms, feeling like she didn’t have an ounce of strength left in her body.

She shot him a glare and said irritably.

"Hehe my ass."

’It hurt so much. I don’t want to talk right now.’

The two of them snuggled together, enjoying the rare moment of peace. In that instant, it was as if they had become one person, inseparable from each other.

After a while, Lin Zhiyin shifted and accidentally brushed against something. She hastily pulled the blanket over herself.

"I’m sleepy, I’m going to bed now!"

How could Zhao Wendong let her get away? He grabbed her in one swift move.

"You’re not allowed to sleep."

The snow fell harder and harder, and the "music" started up once again.

The rooms at the two Educated Youth Point houses by the sea were adjacent to each other. On top of that, the walls in this era had terrible soundproofing; sometimes, even whispers could be heard next door.

In the room next door, Zhao Wenwu hadn’t been able to fall asleep. He gently nudged Jin Xiuying with his hand.

"What’s wrong with Third Brother and Messy Girl? Why did they suddenly start fighting?"

"Should we go check on them? Third Brother is so strong, what if he hurts Messy Girl?"

"Zhao Wenwu, shut up."
