Chapter 154: The Plus Version of the Runaway Pregnancy
Chapter 154: Chapter 154: The Plus Version of the Runaway Pregnancy
Years later, mentioning the incident again still filled Zane Lynch with a bitter sorrow, especially after learning that the whole affair might have been a misunderstanding.
"Let’s talk about this later. The important thing right now is to find Juliet and our child as quickly as possible."
Zane Lynch straightened his collar, which had gotten messed up when he dodged earlier. Acting sensible for once, he turned to Eloise Donovan.
"You just said Serena found my child? How did she find him? Where did she find him? Where is the child now? And... is his mother with him?"
Eloise Donovan listened calmly as Zane Lynch fired off a relentless stream of questions, but she intuitively knew that the last one was the one he truly cared about.
"Ahem, I’m not entirely clear on the details myself. I was so shocked when she told me that I only got the gist of it. If you’re really that anxious, Cousin, I can call her now and ask for more..."
"Yes, yes, please! Ask for me. If we can really find your sister-in-law and nephew, I’ll be sure to give you and Serena a huge red envelope."
Eloise Donovan: "..." ’Sister-in-law and nephew already? Isn’t he jumping the gun a bit?’
Under the fervent stares of the Lynch family, Eloise Donovan dialed Arabella Donovan’s number.
Meanwhile, Arabella Donovan had returned to the great hall and was eating the apple she had unfortunately dropped earlier.
The others in the room hadn’t been able to overhear her conversation with Eloise Donovan. Though they continued to chatter amongst themselves, their minds were clearly elsewhere.
The second Arabella Donovan’s phone rang, all eyes snapped to her.
Arabella Donovan, assuming they were all waiting for Kieran Kerr to call back, offered an awkward explanation. "It’s my sister. I’m just going to go upstairs and take it."
"Don’t go to all that trouble. You can take it here."
"Right, right, no need for all that trouble."
The crowd, who had been scratching their heads in frustration at the lack of juicy gossip from the Lynch family, finally saw a sliver of hope. How could they let this chance slip by?
Since everyone was insisting, Arabella Donovan felt she couldn’t refuse and quickly answered the phone.
The moment the call connected, Eloise Donovan got straight to the point, asking for specifics: the name of the kindergarten Arabella Donovan had mentioned, the child’s name, his classroom, and any other details.
In truth, Arabella Donovan didn’t know these details as well as her relatives did, so she had to ask her second cousin’s wife on the spot.
The second cousin’s wife glanced at her daughter. "Sue, do you know which class Ethan is in?"
"Of course! Ethan is in the Little Sunflower class right next door. He sits by the window. Every time class lets out, we go over and call for him, and he comes out to play with us."
The second cousin’s wife: "..." ’She certainly knows a lot.’
The second cousin: "..." ’My precious daughter... already asking handsome boys out to play at such a young age. Is it true what they say? You can’t keep a daughter home forever.’
’No, that little charmer must be the one leading her on. This Henry Lynch fellow... I’ll have to keep a close eye on him from now on!’
Arabella Donovan relayed the little girl’s words to Eloise Donovan, adding, "It seems Henry Lynch’s mother is raising him alone. She’s always the one who drops him off and picks him up from school. Apparently, she sometimes even moonlights as a food delivery driver."
"A food delivery driver?" Eloise Donovan sounded surprised as well.
"Yep. By the way, have you told your cousin? He must have some clue about all this by now, right?"
Eloise Donovan glanced instinctively at Zane Lynch, who was standing nearby with an anxious expression, and said with evident disdain, "Don’t get me started. My cousin is a complete dolt. He can’t even figure out where this child came from. When he tries to talk about what happened back then, he just mumbles and makes no sense. I’m afraid this child and the mother are nothing but a messy entanglement to him."
Arabella Donovan pursed her lips and nodded in agreement.
’A messy entanglement, indeed.’
Everyone in the living room simultaneously pricked up their ears, terrified of missing the slightest development.
Zane Lynch’s first love was a woman named Juliet Lyons. Simply put, their story was like a "plus" version of what happened with Hugh Donovan.
The young lovers were happy and in a stable relationship, but then someone just had to stick their nose in it.
The person targeting Zane Lynch and the one targeting Juliet Lyons teamed up. Under the guise of a dinner party, they got the couple drunk and led them away separately. However, things went awry, and the two destined lovers still ended up in bed together.
But Zane Lynch and Juliet’s luck was a bit off. After they slept together, Juliet Lyons received a call about a family emergency and had to leave in a hurry. This allowed one of the schemers, who was waiting outside the door, to swoop in and take her place.
When Zane Lynch woke up and found a strange woman lying beside him, he mistakenly assumed she was the one he’d slept with. He believed that in his drunken state, he had been unfaithful and betrayed Juliet Lyons.
Torn between true love and a sense of responsibility, he was caught in a dilemma. With the two schemers muddying the waters, it wasn’t long before Juliet Lyons found out about the "other woman," and the misunderstanding took root.
Zane Lynch mistakenly believed he had slept with the strange woman, while Juliet Lyons mistakenly believed he was a two-timing player—a total horndog who was with her for the first half of the night and then found another woman for the second!
This Miss Lyons, already wary of fickle scumbags due to her own parents’ marital issues, wanted nothing to do with them. She had thought Zane Lynch was different, but it seemed she had given her heart to the wrong person. With a manipulative male childhood friend adding fuel to the fire, she decisively broke up with Zane Lynch and cut all ties.
Zane Lynch wanted to win her back, but misled by the other woman, he was overwhelmed with shame, believing he had truly wronged Juliet Lyons.
Seeing how vehemently she rejected any contact, he had no choice but to swallow his pain and accept the breakup, resigning himself to watching her from afar.
If that other woman hadn’t gotten carried away while gossiping with her friends and let the truth slip, Zane Lynch might never have realized he had walked into a trap.
Overjoyed upon discovering the truth, Zane Lynch rushed back to school to explain everything to Juliet Lyons, only to find she had already left. She didn’t even return for their graduation.
She had vanished as if into thin air. No matter how desperately Zane Lynch searched, he couldn’t find any trace of her.
What Zane Lynch didn’t know was that Juliet Lyons had vanished so completely because her manipulative childhood friend, the one with designs on her, had been erasing her tracks from behind the scenes.
And so, that single missed connection led to years of complete separation. The next time they would cross paths, their child would already be old enough for kindergarten!
After running through the couple’s entire dramatic history in her head, Arabella Donovan couldn’t help but make a snide internal comment.
’It just goes to show: if the home-wrecker’s shovel is sharp enough, no relationship is safe. No matter how deeply in love Lynch and his first love were, their bond supposedly "stronger than gold," they were still torn apart in the end, weren’t they? But honestly, you two have a drunken one-night stand, the woman wakes up first and leaves, and the man is so out of it he doesn’t even notice the person beside him has been swapped? I just have to ask, Lynch, are you impotent or something?!’
Everyone: "???" ’Is *that* really the goddamn point?’
