Chapter 376: Chapter 376: The Tool Siblings

After hearing what Caspian Rhodes said, only one phrase came to Arabella Donovan’s mind: let the wicked torment the wicked.

Besides, backing up a bit, the Lucas family weren’t necessarily villains. They were just exacting vengeance and settling a score.

What Arabella was more concerned about now was that, besides Leon Lucas, she had mentioned another family in the coffee shop who had been even more tragically victimized by Cassandra Lynch. She wondered if their families had also seen that video, and if they now knew that their children had been persecuted by Cassandra.

Arabella’s speculation was soon answered. The day before her family finished packing, ready to leave Jarden, someone came to their door.

"Someone’s here for me? Do you know who it is?"

Eloise Donovan shook her head. "I’m not sure. It’s someone I’ve never seen before."

When they came downstairs, they saw four strangers, who looked like a family of four, sitting across from Mr. and Mrs. Lynch.

Mrs. Lynch was speaking to an elegant, aristocratic woman around her age. "You’re just in time. If you’d come a day later, Serena and the others would have already left for their hometown and wouldn’t be here."

"Sir, Ma’am, you were looking for me?"

"You’re here. Come on over." Seeing the two girls coming downstairs, Mrs. Lynch quickly beckoned to them, having them sit on either side of her.

"Let me introduce you. This is Eloise, the daughter of my brother-in-law and Rona."

This elegant lady seemed to have known Eloise Donovan’s mother as well. She stared at Eloise’s face for a good while before saying with a touch of nostalgia, "She looks so much like Rona did when she was young. No wonder you couldn’t help but be suspicious after seeing her just once."

"Yes, we were very lucky. My brother-in-law and Rona must be watching over us from heaven, allowing this child to wander back to our side after all this time."

"Mom..."

Mason Reese’s soft call pulled Mrs. Reese’s attention back, reminding her of the real reason for their visit.

"Oh, listen to me. Why am I going on about this? Let’s drop it. Felicity, this young lady next to you must be..."

Mrs. Lynch turned and took Arabella Donovan’s hand, smiling. "This is the one you’re looking for. The child from the Donovan family who was switched with Eloise. Her name is Arabella, but we all call her Serena."

"Hello, ma’am."

"Hello, dear. You’re so lovely. One look at you and it’s impossible not to like you."

Arabella could tell the other party was being complimentary, but she didn’t dwell on it and got straight to the point. "My sister told me you came here specifically to find me. May I ask what this is about, sir and ma’am?"

Mr. and Mrs. Reese exchanged a glance and sighed. "Since you already know part of the story, we won’t hide anything. This is my eldest son, Mason Reese, and my youngest daughter, Sandra Reese."

"Mason Reese? And... Sandra Reese?" Arabella’s eyes widened in surprise. "You’re..."

"That’s right. I believe my son and daughter are the brother and sister you mentioned the other day in the coffee shop, when you were confronting that girl from the Lynch family. The ones who she schemed against, leaving one of them with a permanent disability."

As soon as Mrs. Reese said this, everyone in the room turned to look at them in astonishment.

Although Sandra Reese was blind, she was extremely sensitive to the stares directed at her. She unconsciously clenched her fists, only to gradually relax them as her brother soothed her.

Arabella watched this unfold, her feelings complicated.

’You really can’t just talk about people behind their backs. Isn’t this a case of speak of Clark Carter, and he shall appear?’

Arabella was undoubtedly sympathetic toward these two. They were just unlucky pawns who had been duped by Cassandra Lynch. They had mistaken a villain for a benefactor, tragically wronging their true savior and themselves in the process.

This Mr. Reese was the ultimate fool. Simply because Cassandra Lynch had taken a liking to his looks and family background, she decided to add him to her "pond" of romantic prospects. To do so, she orchestrated a whole "damsel saves the hero" scenario.

During an outing, she lured Mason Reese to a desolate wilderness, miles from anywhere. She had already dug a trap, planning to "rescue" him after he fell in. She hoped to unlock achievements like "selfless rescue" and "man and woman alone in peril" to completely capture the young man’s heart.

However, the plan went awry. The two of them got separated, and Mason Reese never fell into the trap Cassandra Lynch had prepared. Instead, he was knocked unconscious by a piece of fruit that fell from a tree.

At this thought, Arabella was speechless. "..."

The rest of the audience, enjoying the live drama: "..."

That was too much of a coincidence. What kind of fruit was that? It packed such a punch! It seems that from now on, when we’re out in the wild, we don’t just have to watch out for poisonous bugs and beasts, but for falling objects too!

However, what Cassandra Lynch expected even less was that Mason’s sister, Sandra, had gotten worried when her brother left without a word. Not long after he entered the woods, she followed him in, and with a stroke of terrible luck, fell into the very trap Cassandra had prepared, injuring her eyes.

After that, the siblings’ memories of what happened were hazy.

"I only remember waking up to a splitting headache," Mason said. "Sandra was sitting nearby, crying nonstop, and her eyes..."

"There was someone else there besides Cassandra Lynch, wasn’t there?"

Arabella’s sudden interjection made both siblings jolt.

Mason Reese snapped his head up to look at Arabella, his eyes filled with a mixture of hope and panic.

Hope that Arabella could truly help them, and panic at the truth he would have to face.

"Yes," he confirmed. "Besides Cassandra Lynch, there was another girl there who was a bit older than her."

By then, Sandra was already blind, so he was the only one who clearly remembered what the other girl looked like.

She had a round, cherubic face, still pudgy with baby fat, and bright, sparkling eyes. Her fair skin was streaked with dirt, making her look like a little kitten.

For the past ten years, Mason Reese had lived with the guilt over his sister’s eyes. Her suffering made him unwilling and unable to recall too many details from that day.

But after realizing that Cassandra Lynch might not have been their true savior, Mason forced himself to dredge up those fragments buried deep in his memory. It was only then he understood: if Cassandra had really been the one who saved him and his sister, it made no sense for her to be so neat and clean. In contrast, the other girl had been an absolute mess—covered in mud, clothes filthy, hair disheveled. It was obvious at a glance who had actually done all the work.

But at the time, he had been scared out of his wits by his sister’s blindness and had blindly believed the more familiar Cassandra Lynch. His parents, naturally, trusted what their own children told them. With the entire family’s attention focused on Sandra’s eyes, not a single person had noticed that something was amiss!

After hearing Mason Reese’s recollection and speculation, everyone in the room fell silent.

After a long moment, Arabella finally sighed and said quietly, "You’re right. Cassandra Lynch wasn’t your savior. That other girl was."
