I Really Didn’t Mean to Make Money
Chapter 413: Shen Rou’s Worry
After Tang Qiu finished speaking, she sat down at a square table that had been prepared in the meeting room. Beside the table sat a thick stack of blank contracts.
The room fell into a brief silence, followed by a flurry of disorganized whispering.
Shortly after, a few individual interviewees chose to leave the meeting room.
After a while, the room gradually regained its calm.
Tang Qiu did a quick count. Twelve employees had left. After the twelfth person walked out, no one else chose to leave.
Looking at the remaining 88 interviewees waiting quietly, she spoke calmly.
“If no one else is leaving, then you may line up to sign your contracts.”
As Tang Qiu’s voice fell, a simple queue quickly formed. The first interviewee in line walked slowly toward Tang Qiu at the square table.
“This is the contract. There is a clause regarding the ‘survival of the fittest’ system. Please read it carefully. If you have no issues with it, you may sign.”
Tang Qiu looked at the approaching interviewee and handed over a contract from the stack.
The interviewee hurriedly took the contract, scanned it quickly, and signed their name.
Time passed slowly.
Soon, all 88 interviewees had finished signing.
Tang Qiu tidied the contracts slightly and stood up to face the 88 people in the room.
Well, they couldn’t be called interviewees anymore; they were now employees of Baishu Law Firm.
“Since everyone has joined, from this moment on, you are employees of Baishu Law Firm. However, how many of you can ultimately stay will depend on your own abilities.”
“You are all interns who have just graduated from university. There might be some gaps in your legal knowledge and skills, but the difference won’t be too vast. Therefore, the key to staying is whether you are hardworking or disciplined enough.”
Tang Qiu’s gaze swept across the 88 new hires before she continued.
“There are a few more things I need to clarify. Currently, aside from myself as the leader, the firm consists only of you. The various vacant positions within the firm will be filled by selecting from among you in the future.”
“As for how we will choose, naturally, those with outstanding abilities will have priority.”
Inside the meeting room, the 88 new employees showed expressions of excitement upon hearing Tang Qiu’s words.
If their previous motivation to study hard and improve their professional skills was merely to keep their jobs and avoid being eliminated, they now had a much greater incentive: to strive for excellence and become a leader within the firm. That would be an even better outcome.
Tang Qiu looked at the motivated employees and smiled slightly.
This was exactly the effect she wanted.
However, since she had only recruited 88 intern lawyers, she still needed to hire 12 more to reach her goal of 100.
Following that, she spoke a bit more about working from home before officially adjourning the meeting.
……………….
Mingri Group,
CEO’s Office.
After finishing his review of the documents on his desk, Chen Mo leaned back in his executive chair with a relaxed expression.
Since the beginning of August, he had been on high alert, checking the records and financial statements of every company daily.
He did this to prevent any sudden, massive spikes in revenue that he might fail to notice in time, which could lead to a failure in his settlement.
However, ten days had already passed.
Every company under the Mingri Group was still under his control, and no surprises had occurred.
As long as he maintained this for another 20 days, his goal of converting the full amount in System Funds was basically guaranteed.
He set aside the documents he had just finished reading and was about to play a game to relax when Shen Rou walked in with a file.
“President Chen, this is the report for Baishu Law Firm. Please take a look.”
She handed over the file, though her heart was filled with a sense of trepidation.
Lately, President Chen had been personally reviewing the records of every subsidiary under the group almost every day. This made her very uneasy. Previously, minor matters regarding the subsidiaries were left to her to handle.
But lately, President Chen insisted on seeing everything himself.
She was worried that she might have made some mistakes in her previous handling of these affairs, leading President Chen to lose confidence in her work.
Chen Mo took the file. Seeing that Shen Rou was still standing there and showed no sign of leaving, he asked curiously, “Is there anything else?”
“President Chen… have I made any mistakes in my work recently?” Shen Rou hesitated for a moment before finally asking.
“Mistakes? No mistakes at all!” Chen Mo was even more confused, not understanding what she was getting at.
Where would there be mistakes?
Do you know what your biggest mistake is? It’s that you don’t make mistakes.
“Oh.”
Shen Rou nodded and returned to her own office, her heart still slightly uneasy.
Chen Mo watched her leave with a strange look, then flipped open the report she had delivered.
After a moment, he slowly closed the report, a faint smile appearing on his face.
This Tang Qiu was actually quite decent. He had set a minimum quota of 50 interns, and she had actually recruited 100. 100 interns meant 50 more than his limit, which meant 50 additional salaries to pay out.
Not bad.
She had finally done something that aligned with his wishes.
He looked at the pile of finished documents on his desk and felt completely relaxed. He casually clicked the game icon for [Extreme Survival] on his computer.
…………….
Nanhe Coffee Headquarters,
Meeting Room.
Su Dan stood at the front of the room, her gaze sweeping over the coffee shop managers who had rushed over, as well as the various shop managers from Beijing attending via video conference.
“Everyone is here, so let the meeting begin.”
“Today’s meeting isn’t about coffee reforms or shop policies. Today, we are talking about…”
“Conscience.”
“Perhaps you are wondering why I would talk about something that seemingly has nothing to do with coffee. But you are wrong. ‘conscience,’ has a great deal to do with us, and they represent the original intention that Nanhe Coffee must always maintain.”
“Because this is what Mingri Group and President Chen have always advocated and promoted.”
“President Chen runs a group of companies, established the Leifeng Foundation[1], surveys impoverished elderly people across the country, supports orphanages, helps stray cats and dogs… and a whole series of other public welfare initiatives. We don’t know how much of his own capital President Chen has spent on these things, but he continues to persist.”
“This undoubtedly shows that President Chen always keeps ‘conscience’ in his heart. Refusing to produce inferior products and refusing to deceive customers are both expressions of conscience.”
“We realized these things while we were transporting those impoverished elderly people. Since transporting them was President Chen’s suggestion, it means he has been reminding us, consciously or unconsciously.”
“As a company under the Mingri Group, we must naturally keep conscience firmly in our hearts.”
“And what I am about to discuss next is a series of changes Nanhe Coffee will implement centered around the word ‘conscience’.”
