Chapter 4: Chapter 3: Slaughter Feast

Phew.

He had finally survived.

Zhao Shuang glanced back, a flicker of guilt on his face. After all, what he’d just done had likely doomed his son.

’Good thing I already have two sons.’

"Call the police!"

His last shred of conscience had him scrambling for his phone. "No signal?"

As he searched all over for a signal, he noticed the bus driver collapsed on the ground, convulsing.

’Was he always this skinny? I remember him being kind of chubby, pretty overweight actually.’

Zhao Shuang saw that the bus driver’s neck looked a size smaller, which struck him as odd. He was about to give the man a wide berth when the driver twisted his head around, revealing a withered face. His mouth, torn all the way to the base of his ears, was even more terrifying.

!!!

A jolt of terror shot through Zhao Shuang, and he spun around to run.

The moment he turned, he saw that an old woman, thin as a stick, had appeared behind him at some point. Her body was so withered she barely looked human. Her mouth hung open, and a foul stench washed over him.

Her few remaining teeth were especially horrifying—yellow, sharp, and glinting with a cold light.

"Ahhh!!!"

Zhao Shuang instinctively tried to shove her away, but she didn’t budge. Instead, he was the one who staggered and fell to the ground.

SQUELCH.

The bus driver was incredibly agile. He lunged forward and sank his teeth into Zhao Shuang’s throat. With a single tear, he ripped the windpipe right out, and blood sprayed everywhere.

Ugh... urk... ghk...

Zhao Shuang’s face was a mask of terror as he trembled, desperately trying to push the bus driver off him. But he had no strength left. Even his consciousness was starting to fade.

In his final moments, he looked toward the bus, his thoughts a mystery.

"Monster! Monster!"

"Help me!"

Xiao’ai, her best friend, and the fitness guy all turned and fled, their faces pale with terror. They had successfully adapted to the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power, which meant their bodies had a strong affinity for it.

They had earned the right to live, but that didn’t mean they would survive until the end.

The banquet of slaughter had only just begun.

"ROAR."

The bus driver heard the screams and lifted his blood-soaked face. He bared his teeth, and bits of shredded flesh could be seen between them.

WHOOSH.

It gave chase.

In just three seconds, it covered about thirty meters, and its speed was only increasing. The distance between them closed rapidly.

"Ah!"

Xiao’ai glanced back and screamed in terror. If this kept up, she would very likely be the next one tackled to the ground!

Her gaze fell upon her best friend.

She hesitated.

"ROAR."

The beast-like roar sounded again from behind her.

’It’s so close!’

Xiao’ai could even smell the faint scent of blood!

’I’m sorry... I... I really don’t want to die.’

Under the threat of death, she finally made her decision. Gritting her teeth, she shoved her best friend beside her.

Just as a sliver of guilt arose in her heart, her foot was tripped and she lost her balance.

’No!’

’If I fall, I’ll definitely be the next to die!’

’Is this what I deserve?’

At that moment, her expression changed drastically.

But when she saw her best friend pulling her leg back, her guilt vanished completely, replaced by pure hatred!

THUD.

THUD.

The sounds of two bodies hitting the ground rang out simultaneously.

"Why did you try to hurt me?"

"Didn’t you try to hurt me, too?"

"And I thought you were my best friend! I even gave you advice! Is this how you repay me?"

"Right back at you."

The two girls actually started wrestling on the ground.

The bus driver stopped beside them. It tilted its head, sizing them up, and surprisingly didn’t attack right away.

Apparently, it hadn’t expected its food to start fighting itself.

"Ah!"

"Help!"

The next moment, the two girls noticed the monster watching them. They shrieked and clung to each other.

Even so, they were still secretly struggling against each other, each trying to push the other closer to the bus driver, hoping to delay her own death by a few precious moments.

"ROAR."

The bus driver let out a roar, pounced on the two of them, and began to tear and bite.

The scene was gruesome.

Soon, their struggles weakened, and their screams faded to nearly nothing.

GURGLE.

Blood gushed madly from their wounds.

They didn’t die immediately. They were forced to endure the terror and agony of death, suffering immensely.

Xiao’ai’s best friend tried to call out to the fitness guy for help, only to find he was already a hundred meters away, sprinting without a single look back before disappearing into the mist.

Xiao’ai, meanwhile, reached a hand toward the people still on the bus, her face a mask of desperation.

However, the people on the bus were already scared out of their wits. Who would dare go out and save her?
