Chapter 202: Chapter 200: A Family of Three, Second Great-aunt Comes Knocking

"Minister, do you have any instructions?"

Su Miaoyi asked cautiously.

The moment she asked, Shen Shilan turned her head, her whole body shaking with laughter.

Qin Chengyuan glanced at her, then cleared his throat. "Was lunch good?"

Shen Shilan let out a snort of laughter.

Su Miaoyi glanced at her, then back at Qin Chengyuan. She didn’t know why he was asking, but she answered anyway, "It was good."

Shen Shilan looked at Qin Chengyuan’s face.

His expression was a bit dark.

"I’m a good cook, too," Qin Chengyuan said suddenly.

Su Miaoyi paused for a moment, then it dawned on her. ’Is he jealous?’

Shen Shilan said with a smile, "Minister Qin, I didn’t know you could cook."

Qin Chengyuan took her hand. "Shilan, give me a break. Wasn’t I always the one who cooked before?"

Su Miaoyi’s eyes darted back and forth between the two of them.

Shen Shilan laughed for a little while longer. "Alright, when we’re not so busy, you can cook."

"Okay." Qin Chengyuan looked at Su Miaoyi.

"I’ll come eat then," Su Miaoyi said.

Qin Chengyuan nodded. "Okay."

"Why don’t you come up and sit for a while?" Su Miaoyi asked.

"No, it’s getting late. You should get some rest." After speaking, Qin Chengyuan walked to his car, opened the door, and came back with a few things for Su Miaoyi.

Su Miaoyi took them.

"Bought them on the way," Qin Chengyuan said.

Su Miaoyi looked down at the items in her hands and instinctively tightened her grip. She nodded.

"Go on back. It’s too late," Qin Chengyuan said.

"Okay."

"Go on," Shen Shilan said, stroking her cheek.

Seeing that the two of them were insisting on waiting for her to leave first, Su Miaoyi took a few steps back and turned to go.

After a few steps, she clutched the bags in her hands even tighter, then suddenly spun around, ran back, and hugged them both.

Both Shen Shilan and Qin Chengyuan were stunned by her hug.

Qin Chengyuan was the first to react, placing a hand on her back and patting it gently.

Su Miaoyi wanted to say something, but the words wouldn’t come out.

When Shen Shilan came to her senses, she hugged her tightly and immediately began to cry.

Qin Chengyuan’s other hand patted Shen Shilan’s shoulder. "Don’t cry. Neither of you. This is a good thing."

"I..." Su Miaoyi started to say.

Qin Chengyuan said, "We know. You don’t have to say anything. We understand."

He had always been so cautious, truly afraid of affecting her in some way.

But he had just missed her so terribly.

"That’s right, we know. You don’t have to say anything," Shen Shilan added.

Su Miaoyi hugged them for a little while longer before pulling away.

"Do what you want to do. We’ll always have your back," Qin Chengyuan said.

Shen Shilan wiped the tears from her face. "That’s right."

Su Miaoyi nodded.

Qin Chengyuan patted her shoulder gently, then looked toward the elevators.

There were footsteps.

Su Miaoyi looked over as well.

Shen Yanzhou was walking toward them at a leisurely pace.

He had seen the family of three from a distance and hadn’t come over right away to interrupt.

Shen Shilan squeezed Su Miaoyi’s hand. "Go on back."

"Okay. Drive safely."

"Mm."

Su Miaoyi and Shen Yanzhou went upstairs. They chatted for a bit at her door before going to their respective apartments.

The moment she got inside, Su Miaoyi paced awkwardly around the living room a few times, covered her face with her hands, rubbed it, and then paced around some more.

AHH!!!!!

’She didn’t know what had just come over her. She’d suddenly had the urge to hug them, so she did.’

’But, but... now she suddenly felt awkward, since she hadn’t remembered anything at all.’

’After the hug... it wasn’t just awkward, she also felt really embarrassed.’

AHH!!!!!

Su Miaoyi punched the sofa twice. BAM! BAM!

Then she stood up and started walking toward the bathroom. "Alright, embarrassment over."

"You probably just hurt your hand," the voice in her head said.

Su Miaoyi took a few more steps, then suddenly clutched her hand and squatted on the floor. "Hsss—"

Her knuckles had hit something hard inside the sofa. It hurt like hell.

The voice in her head sighed in disgust.

And so, Su Miaoyi’s knuckles remained swollen for several days.

It was inconvenient even to type on her keyboard at the city bureau.

「Two weeks later.」

The real Su Miaoyi was laid to rest.

Zhuang Yanzheng and Shen Yanzhou helped her with the arrangements.

After the burial, Su Miaoyi made another trip back to the old district.

Going back there made her feel more grounded.

She arrived in the old district in the afternoon, stayed the night, and planned to leave after lunch the next day.

But when she woke up early the next morning and opened her bedroom door, she heard a familiar voice.

’Second Great-Aunt?’

She glanced into the living room.

’Sure enough.’

Besides her Second Great-Aunt, there was also a man she didn’t recognize.

Cheng Jue saw Su Miaoyi first. He got up, walked over, and pushed her back into her room.

Once the door was closed, Cheng Jue whispered, "Don’t go out there."

"Why is she here? Is that her son?" Su Miaoyi whispered back.

The soundproofing wasn’t very good, after all.

"A neighbor must have told her you were back yesterday. She showed up first thing this morning with her son in tow and even called Mom and Dad back from the market," Cheng Jue said, annoyed.

"Her son is already forty. Just look at him, thin as a beanpole. I’m worried his leg will just SNAP while he’s walking." Cheng Jue was exceptionally disgusted. "And yet she praises him to the high heavens."

Su Miaoyi chuckled.

"You can still laugh?" Cheng Jue said. "Mom and Dad have dropped all sorts of hints for them to leave, but they’re still just sitting there. I’ve never met such shameless people."

"I’m going to go meet them." Su Miaoyi was a little curious.

"Don’t you dare." Cheng Jue frowned. "He’s an eyesore."

"Now I’m even more curious," Su Miaoyi said. "I’m just going to change and go take a look."

Cheng Jue didn’t speak or move, clearly not wanting her to go.

Su Miaoyi pushed him out.

She changed her clothes and went out.

"Miaomiao, you’re awake!" the Second Great-Aunt said with a smile, walking to her side and taking her hand.

Su Miaoyi smiled and greeted her.

Ge Yu stepped between them, pulled Su Miaoyi’s hand out of the Second Great-Aunt’s grasp, and separated the two.

"Look at you," the Second Great-Aunt said, looking at Ge Yu with great dissatisfaction. "This is the children’s business, you don’t have to meddle. You’re her aunt, not her mother. You shouldn’t be making decisions on matters like this."

"I was raised by my uncle and aunt, so of course they can make decisions for me. They always can," Su Miaoyi said. "Second Great-Aunt, there’s no point in saying things like that in my home."

"Exactly," Cheng Jue said.

"Oh, my, I misspoke, I misspoke." The Second Great-Aunt laughed. "My son happens to have the day off, so I rushed him over so you two could meet."

Su Miaoyi looked at the man sitting on the sofa.

The man was looking at them and offered a polite smile. "Hello."

"Hello," Su Miaoyi said, pulling Ge Yu by the hand as she walked past him to the opposite sofa.

As she passed him, the first thing she noticed was a heavy scent of cologne.

But mixed in with the cologne was another smell. It was unpleasant, a little foul with a hint of something metallic...
