I See through Everything

Chapter 107 - 90: An Unexpected Game

Chapter 107: Chapter 90: An Unexpected Game

Night fell.

On the Shenzhen-Shantou Expressway, heading toward Peng City.

"Boss, the other party is unwilling to accept our strategic investment," Li Rongyao said over the phone in fluent English.

They had stopped for dinner in Shanmei for over two hours, which was why they were still on the expressway.

A low chuckle came from the other end of the line. "Heh... he’s young. We must be patient. Li, you know what to do, don’t you?"

"Don’t worry, Boss. I already have a plan. I’m confident a few of our friends can show him how the game of power is played. Once he learns what reality is, he’ll come crawling to us like a lapdog."

"Good."

"Boss, about that other company... should we proceed, or hold off for now?"

"He already handed over the items, and his wife has joined the club. There’s no need to make a move for now. The last time was just a warning."

"Then I’ll handle it the usual way?"

"Mm. Go on."

"Goodbye, Boss."

After hanging up, Li Rongyao wasn’t worried about his phone being tapped. It was a custom model made for the company, and it had a backdoor that could block any surveillance.

But he never would have imagined that someone could use that same backdoor against him.

「Several hundred kilometers away.」

Jiang Miao took off his headphones, his eyes filled with a cold glint. His voice, like a devil’s whisper, slowly echoed through the break room. "Not bad. You’re all quite something. So let’s play a little game. We’ll call it the Game of Accidental Life!"

From the call, he could tell these guys were planning to use some underhanded tactics.

That came as no surprise. After hacking into Baisan Investment’s internal database, Jiang Miao had discovered they had thoroughly investigated both Hailufeng Company and his own family.

Baisan Investment knew more about Hailufeng Company than Anyi Investment did.

With this information, they obviously knew that conventional business pressure would do little to make Jiang Miao and Hailufeng Company yield. It was only natural, then, that they would resort to dirty tricks.

It sent a murderous rage boiling through Jiang Miao.

With a sharp blade in hand, the thought to kill is born.

Under the circumstances, if he let them live, he and Hailufeng Company would face an endless stream of trouble.

And Jiang Miao happened to hate trouble.

’All I want is to quietly grow my company and research technology. Why is that so hard? There are always people courting death.’

’In that case, I’ll just have to oblige these jackals.’

He turned to another computer, staring at Li Rongyao’s complete file before checking the real-time location of their cars on a navigation map.

He locked onto their probable route and began tagging the Coil cars along the way.

He accessed the backend of the Coil cars along their route, opened their battery management systems, and set them to a one-touch detonation mode.

He paid special attention to Baisan Investment’s branch office in Peng City, as it had an underground parking garage with a considerable number of Coil cars.

He was waiting for them to get out of the car.

Of course, Jiang Miao didn’t stay in the break room. He configured the backend program to send alerts to his phone, which would display their real-time status on its navigation map.

He hadn’t taken more than a dozen steps out of the break room when his phone began to vibrate continuously. He picked it up and saw that Li Rongyao’s car was already in the underground parking garage.

At that moment, Li Rongyao had just gotten out of his car. As he walked toward the elevator doors, his mind was already on what came next.

After he went upstairs to the office to take care of a few things, he would contact some old friends. It was time to show Jiang Miao and Hailufeng Company just how sinister people could be.

Just then, his secretary’s phone rang.

"Apologies, General Manager Li. I need to take this call."

"Mm."

The secretary stepped aside, falling seven or eight paces behind Li Rongyao. He saw it was an unknown number and answered the call.

After listening for a moment, he looked exasperated. It was a scam call from overseas. He lowered his voice and scoffed, "Ever been beaten half to death in Phnom Penh? Scum. Still dreaming of getting rich? You still got both your kidneys?"

Up ahead, Li Rongyao, now walking alone, heard the voice behind him and frowned slightly.

Just then, he walked past a Coil car that was plugged in and charging. He was less than a meter from the vehicle’s battery compartment.

The next second.

BOOM!

The battery detonated in an instant, all its failsafes—the leak protection, the fire suppression—having been disabled.

The car’s side door was blown clean off, smashing into Li Rongyao’s torso and leaving him stunned. The jet of molten metal spewing from the lithium battery rapidly ignited several nearby vehicles.

Before Li Rongyao could even react, the flames engulfed his clothes. He tried to run, but discovered that shards from his shattered glasses had pierced his eyes, blinding him. All he could do was scream.

"Help... Somebody, help me...!"

But the fire from the exploding lithium battery was too intense. It burned incredibly fast, and the constant spray of flaming liquid metal set the surrounding electric cars ablaze as well.

The secretary, standing a short distance away, was frozen in shock.

Li Rongyao’s agonized screams finally snapped the secretary out of his stupor, but for a moment, he didn’t know what to do. Fortunately, the driver and bodyguard farther away reacted quickly, running back to their Mercedes to get a fire extinguisher.

But just then, the battery of the adjacent, burning electric car also exploded.

BOOM! The violent explosion blew out a window, and the pane of glass struck the flailing Li Rongyao in the back, flinging him into the blazing wreck of the first Coil car.
