Chapter 293: Chapter 152: Visitors

While Jiang Miao continued to inspect the farming base, Lü Weibin’s phone rang.

He stepped aside to take the call.

He returned a short while later.

"Boss, the soybean research team from the Zhelimu City Agro-pastoral Science Research Institute just arrived for a visit. Should we go see them?"

Jiang Miao raised an eyebrow. "Alright. I’ve seen enough here anyway. Zhiben, Da Song, handle the tasks I’ve assigned you, especially rectifying the safety hazards in those few spots. Get it done as soon as possible."

"Yes, Boss!"

"We’ll complete the task as soon as possible."

Liu Zhiben and Wu Song stayed behind.

Meanwhile, Jiang Miao took Lü Weibin and the others back to the main base.

After a twenty-three-kilometer drive, they returned to the bustling main base.

The nearby villagers and herdsmen watched Jiang Miao’s convoy with curiosity. They had already heard that this was a project from a large southern company.

Sun Boxin was cracking sunflower seeds. Facing the off-season lull, all he could do was crack seeds in front of his house.

Bao Yin, carrying a bag of spices, saw Sun Boxin sitting on a small stool cracking seeds and asked with a smile, "Old Sun, don’t you know how to drive a tractor? Why not go work for that company across the way?"

"I can barely manage the sheep at home, and you want me to go get a job? You’ve got to be kidding me." Sun Boxin spat the seed shell directly onto the ground.

"Heh, those two hundred-plus sheep of yours? Just have your wife watch them."

"She’s a klutz, I wouldn’t trust her with it." Sun Boxin changed the subject. "What are you doing with all these bottles and jars? Planning to open a restaurant?"

But Bao Yin actually nodded. "Yup! I’m planning to open a noodle and kebab shop."

"Are you running a fever?" Sun Boxin stopped cracking seeds, staring at him in astonishment.

"You’re the one with the fever! I’ve got inside information. This big company is going to have a thousand employees at this base. They’ll definitely need to eat and drink out. My house is right across from their base. If I open a small family-run noodle shop and add kebabs, I’ll definitely attract them," Bao Yin said, full of confidence.

Sun Boxin was stunned. "For real? A thousand people? Our whole village doesn’t even have that many people. They’re investing that much?"

"Heh, my cousin used to work at a farm that went bankrupt. It was acquired by this company. They’ve contracted the Tamin Chagan Desert to the north. I heard they contracted a full 350,000 mu."

CRACK! Sun Boxin cracked a seed, his eyes darting around as he thought.

"Spacing out?"

"Huh? It’s nothing. I just don’t think your noodle and kebab shop will necessarily attract the people from inside."

"Oh! When did our Old Sun become a business genius? Then tell me, why won’t I be able to attract customers?" Bao Yin was instantly indignant.

Sun Boxin waved his hand dismissively. "I’m not saying your noodle shop won’t attract people. It’s just that you haven’t considered where the company’s employees are from. Isn’t it possible that with a base this big, they have their own kitchen inside?"

"Huh?" It finally dawned on Bao Yin. "Then do you have any good suggestions?"

"Five meals," Sun Boxin said with a grin.

Bao Yin gritted his teeth. "Fine. If your suggestion is useful, I’ll treat you to five drinking sessions. Satisfied? Now talk."

"Don’t be so hasty."

Bao Yin snatched the bag of sunflower seeds. "Stop dawdling."

"Alright, alright, I’ll talk, okay?" Sun Boxin said with a chuckle. "Since you have an inside connection, have them find out what kind of food the base’s kitchen mainly serves. If it’s the same local dishes we have, then you’d better not open your noodle and kebab shop."

"Makes sense." Bao Yin nodded like a chicken pecking at grain. "What else?"

"What else is there?"

"That’s it?" Bao Yin had a ’you’ve got to be kidding me’ look on his face.

"See? You’re getting impatient again."

"How can I not be impatient? This is a much more stable customer base than the tourists at that crappy Silver Sand Bay scenic area. With a thousand people, even if only a few dozen come out to eat every day, it’s enough to support a greasy spoon."

Sun Boxin shook his head. "Go find out the details first. How can I give you advice otherwise?"

"Right." Bao Yin hurried away.

Watching the construction site in the distance where the sandy ground was being leveled, a sharp glint flashed in Sun Boxin’s eyes. ’Food is small potatoes. Daily necessities are the real money-maker. If I’m going to open something, it’ll be a convenience store.’

Suddenly, he looked at the large pile of seed shells on the ground, then at his own empty hands, and couldn’t help but curse out loud, "That meddling Bao Yin! He even learned how to swipe things! You just wait, see if I don’t fleece you for a good meal later."

"What are you barking like a dog for out there? Been drinking horse piss again?"

A powerful voice came from inside the house.

Sun Boxin instantly flinched and shot up from his chair.

He brushed the dust off his clothes, quickly opened the door, and went inside. Seeing his wife making dough drops, he rubbed his hands together with an embarrassed smile.

"Honey, I want to discuss something with you."

Tana, who was making the dough drops, shot him a glare. "Spit it out."

"Our brother-in-law runs a general store in the city, right? I want to open a convenience store here in the village, too. Could you call him and chat, get him to point us in the right direction?"

Tana’s brow furrowed. "You want to go into business again? Haven’t you lost enough money yet? I refuse."

"Honey, don’t be like that! I’ve really got a way to get rich this time." Sun Boxin grew anxious, scratching his head and ears like a monkey.

"Heh, when do you not say that?" Tana gave him her best ’I’d sooner trust a ghost than you, you old coot’ expression.

"It’s true! My idea is this..." Sun Boxin quickly explained his idea to open a convenience store and the situation with the Hailufeng Company across the way.
