I See through Everything

Chapter 430: Aggrieved

At these words, old Jimmy finally stopped playing dead. He stared at the young man across from him and slowly asked, “Who are you people?”

“You don’t need to know.”

…Hearing this, old Jimmy’s heart sank. ‘This isn’t about money,’ he thought. ‘They’re here for my life.’

“You recognize this person, don’t you?” As he spoke, the young man pulled a missing person notice from a thick stack of documents and placed it on the table in front of old Jimmy.

Old Jimmy’s eyes narrowed as he saw the face and information on the notice. Of course he recognized him. It was a job he’d taken five years ago.

But, certain he was a dead man, Jimmy had no intention of answering.

“No matter. It’s normal for you not to answer—after all, you’re about to die,” the young man said with a grin, not a hint of anger in his voice. “But I am curious. Are you really that confident in your security measures?”

Old Jimmy remained silent.

“Yokmok Town in Northern Sweden. What do you think of that place?”

In an instant, the hair on old Jimmy’s arms stood on end. His mental defenses crumbled. “How do you know?” he asked frantically. “I never even told my own subordinates!”

“I told you, I won’t answer your questions. You need to tell me everything you know, or you’ll regret your silence.”

With his mental defenses shattered, old Jimmy confessed everything. He initially tried to mislead and conceal certain sensitive details, but after the young man called him out on each one, he finally confessed everything he knew.

As old Jimmy divulged most of the intelligence about the Bridger Organization, coupled with the intelligence secretly provided by Jiang Miao…

The entire Bridger Organization was uprooted overnight. Its members either “committed suicide” by shooting themselves seven times in the back, drowned, or died by taking poison.

And just like that, the Bridger Organization, which had run rampant in the Asian Region for over two decades, vanished without a trace.

Such is the tragedy of a pawn.

They thought they could control their own lives, but they didn’t know they were just insignificant pieces on the chessboard—unofficial pieces at that. The price for meddling in the clashes of top-tier powers was a death with no final resting place.

The destruction of the Bridger Organization was not the only result.

The various secret organizations entrenched in Eastern Asia also suffered devastating blows overnight.

In the luckier organizations, a few small fry managed to escape.

As for the unlucky ones, the entire organization was wiped out.

And that was just the purge in the shadows.

The public-facing actions were just as significant.

Forces from the America Conglomerate, led by the Morgan Group, and particularly their secret collaborators, had also suffered a disastrous week.

Company founders were either thrown in jail for criminal activities…

…or were “suicided”…

…or they fled from Southeast Asia in a hurry.

The Morgan Clan, which had previously considered the Locke Clan an easy target, was now getting a taste of the same treatment.

America.

Inside an office building in New York.

Listening to his subordinate’s report, John Morgan’s face was extremely grim.

Time passed minute by minute, yet the report was still ongoing. With every passing minute, another one or two of their family’s pawns were being eliminated.

“Father, are we just going to watch?” Carl Morgan could no longer sit still.

“Carl, calm down.” Old Morgan was still calm and composed. Although he was pained to see a part of their network dismantled, the Morgan Clan was far from being at the end of its rope.

“But…”

Old Morgan waved his hand. “It’s just the loss of pawns in Eastern Asia and Lucia. As long as our power in North America and Europe remains, the family will be fine. Besides, we aren’t the only ones who took a hit this time.”

Carl Morgan, calming down slightly, continued to listen to the report.

“All eighty-seven core executives with close ties to us have been eliminated…”

“Two financial institutions in Malacca Slope County that we secretly controlled are now under local investigation for illegal insider trading…”

“The Golden Fish Oil Company has been fined two billion by local authorities for suspected market manipulation…”

“East Japan…”

As the litany of losses continued, the expression on Carl Morgan’s face grew uglier and uglier.

The report on their losses alone took a full two and a half hours, and that was just the summary, without going into detail.

Yet Old Morgan remained calm and composed.

He knew that in this confrontation, he and the other conglomerates had been unprepared, caught completely off guard.

More importantly, their opponent possessed far too many secrets. Their attacks were precise, targeting the critical weakness of every pawn. Every move was a fatal blow, giving the pawns no chance to struggle, not even time to escape.

Gently fiddling with his fountain pen, Old Morgan strongly suspected there was a traitor among the conglomerate’s top executives.

‘Otherwise, how could our opponent have possibly obtained such vast and precise intelligence?’

Old Morgan looked seriously at his eldest son. “Carl, you will personally select trustworthy family members to conduct a full internal investigation. Especially those with access to confidential information. Leave no one unchecked.”

Carl Morgan understood at once. “Father, are you suspecting that there are pawns planted by the enemy among our executives, or that someone has been turned?”
