Chapter 92 - 85: Surging Undercurrents (Part 2)
Chapter 92: Chapter 85: Surging Undercurrents (Part 2)
Great Ryukyu Island.
Pingtung County, facing the Bashi Channel and the Pacific Ocean.
The Anye Aquatic Base was located on the northeast coast of the county. Next to the aquaculture base was the plantation and private villa of the big boss, Jiang Anye, as well as a small, 10-story building that served as their office.
Inside the boss’s office on the fifth floor.
The two underlings who had just rushed back from Shanmei personally handed a small, twenty-eight-page notebook, filled with ingredients and important notes, to their boss, Jiang Anye.
Looking at the feed formula in his hand, Jiang Anye didn’t show much excitement. Instead, he casually handed the formula to several of the company’s aquaculture technicians. Then, he lit a cigarette and took a drag.
"Haaa... Take a look at this."
"Yes, Boss." Among the technicians, Old Dong, who specialized in eel farming, picked up the small notebook and began to read it intently.
About half an hour later, Old Dong finally looked up and shared his thoughts. "Boss, I’ve previously looked into related papers from East Japan’s aquaculture research institutes. Their eel breeding techniques do indeed use a lot of hormones. It seems Hailufeng Company’s technology is more or less the same."
"Oh? So you’re saying this technical data is real?" Jiang Anye flicked the ash from his cigarette.
Hearing his boss’s question, Old Dong seemed worried that the boss would invest blindly like West Sea Company had. He quickly advised, "Boss, this technology still needs to be verified. I suggest we run an experiment first. Based on the breeding process they’ve provided, it should take about three months for spawning and hatching. We can afford to wait three months."
Taking a deep drag from his cigarette, Jiang Anye first frowned, then nodded. "Haaa... Three months? Fine. I’m putting you in charge of this. Whether the technology is real or fake, find out for me as soon as possible."
Clearly, Jiang Anye was no fool.
If this turned out to be another piece of fake technology released by Hailufeng Company, he had no intention of crashing and burning like West Sea Company.
Although Jiang Anye’s enterprise was vast, and a loss of a few tens of millions was nothing to him, who would willingly lose that much money if it could be avoided?
As for why Old Dong had urged caution, it wasn’t because he was concerned about Jiang Anye or Anye Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. After all, he was just an employee, earning a bit over ten thousand a month. Why should he worry about his boss?
The reason he chose to speak up was mainly his fear of Jiang Anye’s underworld background. If a blind investment led to heavy losses and his boss decided to take it out on him, his humble self wouldn’t be able to carry such a heavy burden of blame.
They talked for another ten-plus minutes.
After giving the technical notebook to Old Dong and the others, Jiang Anye had everyone else leave his office.
The aquaculture technicians of Anye Company began their secret experimental work based on the data provided by Zhang Xincheng.
Meanwhile, Xie Xiaowei was still a "guest" at Zhang Xincheng’s old house. Thankfully, he still had his phone and computer with him; otherwise, three months of solitary life would probably be very difficult to endure.
...
Having obtained the "technology," Jiang Anye did not simply rest on his laurels.
In the now-quiet office, he stubbed out his cigarette butt in the ashtray. He opened a drawer under his desk, revealing several satellite phones. He picked one up, then opened another drawer and took out a small notebook.
He flipped through the small notebook for a moment, found a phone number, and immediately dialed it on the satellite phone.
After a moment, the call connected.
"Hello? *Seumnida*... Is that you, Jiang?"
"It’s me. Chairman Jin, long time no see."
Jiang Anye conversed skillfully with the other party in the Korean Language.
"Jiang, you must have run into some trouble."
"Chairman Jin, I have a big project recently. I was wondering if you’d be interested in collaborating?"
The man on the other end of the line was silent for a moment, then chuckled in a low voice. "Jiang, what kind of project?"
"Eel fry."
"Eel fry?" After a moment, the voice on the other end asked again, a little uncertainly, "Are you talking about the kind of eel fry from Rokkaido Eel Company? Although our conglomerate works with Rokkaido Eel Company, their eel fry sales seem to be limited to the East Japan region. I can’t help you with that."
"No, I’m talking about producing our own eel fry."
"Are you sure?"
"I just got my hands on the technology a few days ago."
"And you’re sure it’s the real technology?"
"We’re experimenting with it now. We should have results in about three months."
Hearing Jiang Anye say this, Chairman Jin on the other end of the line seemed to be contemplating the potential profits. After a while, he slowly asked, "What kind of collaboration do you have in mind?"
"As far as I know, your company has two eel farms near Busan, correct?"
"That’s right."
"If I recall correctly, both of those eel farms are indoor facilities, aren’t they?"
"It seems you’re very familiar with our company’s aquaculture industry."
"Well, I do supply your company with wild eel fry on a regular basis. I just pay close attention," Jiang Anye replied with a chuckle. He then continued, "My proposal is to use your company’s two eel farms to quickly start producing eel fry. When the time comes, we split the profits fifty-fifty."
"Fifty-fifty? I’m afraid that won’t work. After all, I’m providing the facilities, the eels, the feed, and the labor. You’re only providing the technology. Fifty-fifty is too much. How about you take thirty percent, and I take seventy?"
"Chairman Jin, how about sixty-forty? I get forty, you get sixty. After all, without the key technology, you won’t be able to produce any eel fry at all."
The other end went silent again for a moment.
"Deal. In three months, if the technology is verified and there are no problems, I’ll send someone over to sign the contract."
