He didn’t head toward the battle. The panicked cries weren’t calls for help, so he figured they were strong enough to handle the Mutant Beast attack on their own.

’Huh? That patch of trees over there has a lot of red fruit. They look tasty.’

Lin Li paid no more mind to the distant battle and continued his search.

Soon, he spotted a grove of fruit-filled trees about twenty meters away.

’Red Apples?’ Lin Li strode over to the grove. The fruits hanging from the branches looked exactly like the apples from Blue Star. He reached out and plucked one.

In the wild, one should never eat unfamiliar fruit. This was doubly true in this Otherworld.

Fortunately for Lin Li, he had seen these Red Apples—which looked identical to those from Blue Star—before. A vendor had been selling them at a fruit stall when he was wandering through Dongwu City.

So he knew that these red fruits were edible.

If he still had doubts, he could always check to see if any animals were eating them.

Scanning his surroundings, Lin Li saw some ordinary birds perched on a nearby branch, happily pecking at the red fruits.

"They’re all eating it, so it must not be poisonous," Lin Li muttered to himself, watching the birds enjoying their sweet meal. He then wiped the Red Apple on his clothes and took a bite.

’So sweet. It tastes just like an apple from Blue Star, only the color is much more vibrant...’

Lin Li quickly finished the Red Apple. Instead of leaving, he took out a large bamboo basket from his Mysterious Small Island and began picking more of them from the trees.

Bibo Lake was much larger than Lin Li had imagined. Finding a White-Scaled Drilling Rat nest along such a vast shoreline was purely a matter of luck.

Not wanting the trip to be a total waste, Lin Li decided to pick some Red Apples to take with him.

Just as Lin Li was picking the Red Apples, a Treasure Hunting Team approached from a distance and saw what he was doing.

"Look at that guy. What’s he doing?"

"He’s picking fruit."

"The hell? You’ve got to be kidding me. Fruit is barely worth anything. What was this guy thinking, coming all the way out here just to pick fruit?"

The members of the Treasure Hunting Squad pointed and whispered about Lin Li, who was happily picking his Red Apples. They simply couldn’t understand his actions.

In their eyes, a basket of fruit wasn’t worth much. This place was dozens of kilometers from Dongwu City and crawling with Mutant Beasts. Coming all this way to pick a large basket of fruit was a thankless task; the effort far outweighed the reward.

"Alright, just ignore him. Let’s go," the Treasure Hunting Team’s leader said to his companions. Then, the group turned and left.

Lin Li, busy picking Red Apples, had noticed the Treasure Hunting Team arrive behind him, pointing and muttering amongst themselves.

He paid them no mind. They were strangers, and he could do as he pleased without worrying about their opinions.

"Any more and I won’t be able to eat them before they rot. This should be enough." Lin Li placed the Red Apple in his hand into the basket. Then, with a thought, he stored the half-full basket away in his Mysterious Small Island.

"He-help me!"

"Is anyone there? Somebody, help us!!!"

Just as he stored the basket of Red Apples in his Mysterious Small Island, Lin Li heard desperate cries for help coming from his left.

He couldn’t just ignore someone calling for help. Lin Li retrieved his Spiritual Longsword from the Mysterious Small Island and sprinted in the direction of the cries.
