I Start with a Mysterious Island
Chapter 551 - 359: The Eerie Sounds in the Cave
Chapter 551: Chapter 359: The Eerie Sounds in the Cave
"CROAK..."
The two severely injured Green-backed Toad Beasts frantically attacked Lin Li.
For Li Mai and the rest of the Treasure Hunting Team who had fled, these two Second Order Middle Stage Green-backed Toad Beasts were far beyond their ability to handle.
But now, these two ferocious Mutant Beasts were being toyed with by Lin Li. No matter how they attacked with all their might, they couldn’t inflict the slightest bit of damage on him.
As time went on, the grassy area in front of the pool was left in a complete mess from the battle.
"BOOM..."
Suddenly, two massive explosions boomed in quick succession, echoing throughout the entire valley.
This gave Li Mai’s group and the Treasure Hunting Team, who had already fled and were now watching from the valley entrance, a huge shock.
They had never in their lives heard such a deafening explosion.
"SPLASH, SPLASH, SPLASH..."
The cascading waterfall continued to pour down as it always did, completely unaffected by the fierce battle raging nearby.
The aftershock from the powerful Fireball explosions dissipated, and the kicked-up dust settled back to the ground.
Two charred craters marked the site of the explosions. Looking around, one could see minced limbs and fragments scattered throughout the grass.
’Sigh... I should’ve controlled the Fireballs’ power! Now look at this mess. A complete waste,’ Lin Li muttered to himself in regret, looking at the limbs of the Green-backed Toad Beasts, which his Fireballs had blasted to smithereens and scattered everywhere.
Although he had accidentally lost two portions of Mutant Beast flesh, the thought of the Spirit Stone Mine collected by the White-Scaled Drilling Rats in the cave ahead calmed his regretful heart a little.
Storing the Spiritual Longsword in his hand into the Mysterious Small Island, Lin Li walked toward the distant cave.
Numerous claw marks surrounded the cave, indicating it wasn’t naturally formed. But there was something strange.
The cave didn’t look like it had been dug by a White-Scaled Drilling Rat, because the claw marks around it were small, whereas the White-Scaled Drilling Rat had large claws.
Standing at the entrance, Lin Li peered into the cave and found it was pitch-black; he couldn’t see a thing.
"SNAP."
"WHOOSH."
Lin Li raised his right hand and snapped his fingers. An orange-red spark burst from his fingertip, and in the blink of an eye, a soccer-ball-sized Fireball condensed and floated in the air before him.
’One Fireball probably isn’t enough,’ he thought. So, Lin Li created five more in quick succession.
"This should be enough," Lin Li mumbled, then stepped forward into the pitch-black cave.
The six soccer-ball-sized Fireballs he had created floated in the air around him, dispelling the darkness within the cave.
The pitch-black cave was much larger than Lin Li had imagined. At first, he thought he could walk for a short while and reach the end.
But after entering, he walked for a good five or six minutes and still hadn’t reached the end.
"DRIP, DRIP, DRIP..."
The air in the cave was very humid. Looking up, illuminated by the Fireballs, he could see the ceiling was covered with huge stalactites.
Water droplets fell from the stalactites, splashing on the ground with a series of crisp sounds.
Outside, the sound of these droplets falling from the stalactites wouldn’t have seemed like much.
But in this pitch-black cave where you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, the sound of the falling drops echoed.
The overlapping sounds, combined with the dark and confined environment, inevitably created a deeply oppressive feeling.
’Could I be mistaken? This can’t be a White-Scaled Drilling Rat’s nest at all.’
After walking for nearly ten minutes inside the cave, Lin Li found he still hadn’t reached the end, nor had he found any Spirit Stone Mine. Doubt began to grow in his mind.
Still, he had already been in the cave for a while. To stop now and turn back... ’Well, I’ve come this far,’ he thought. ’Might as well keep going and see what this cave is all about.’
"DRIP, DRIP, DRIP..."
"TAP, TAP, TAP..."
The dripping and the footsteps echoed through the pitch-black cave, weaving together into a strange symphony—a symphony that was more than a little unsettling.
If not for his Peak Tier Two cultivation and his ultimate escape route of hiding on the Mysterious Small Island, Lin Li would absolutely not have continued to explore deeper into the cave.
After another few minutes, Lin Li, who was walking slowly, finally reached the deepest part of the cave with the help of the light from his Fireballs.
He kept one Fireball by his side and directed the other five to spread out.
Illuminated by the scattered Fireballs, Lin Li discovered that the deepest part of the cave, where he now stood, was a cavern half the size of a soccer field.
Seeing this, he couldn’t help but exclaim, "This cave has such a huge space inside!!!"
Suddenly, a faint glimmer of light flashed in a distant corner.
After spotting the sudden, faint glimmer, Lin Li thought for a moment and then walked toward it.
Under Lin Li’s control, a soccer-ball-sized Fireball shot forward, instantly dispelling the surrounding darkness.
