Lin Li pondered this as he stood by the roadside after leaving the restaurant. He watched the horse-drawn carriages come and go, along with a few bicycles of a single color and quaint design.

After a moment’s thought, he still couldn’t decide what to do. Just as he was about to head back to his villa for the time being, an exceptionally luxurious and impressive carriage pulled to a stop right in front of him.

"Hm?" Lin Li stared at the lavish carriage before him. Noticing the guards surrounding it were all looking at him, a puzzled expression crossed his face.

Just then, the carriage’s curtain was pulled aside, revealing a lovely face to Lin Li.

It was Zhu Xinru, a woman of elegant temperament and a personality as gentle as water. Her bright eyes were filled with pleasant surprise.

She looked at Lin Li and said, her lips parting slightly, "Mr. Lin, what a coincidence! To think I’d run into you here."

"Miss Zhu, hello there! It’s been a while," Lin Li replied with a smile.

"Mr. Lin, are you waiting for a ride? Where are you headed? I can give you a lift."

A moment earlier, Zhu Xinru had been idly gazing out the window. An unconscious glance had unexpectedly revealed a familiar figure standing by the street up ahead.

At first, Zhu Xinru thought she was mistaken. But after taking a closer look, she realized it truly was her savior.

She immediately had her personal maid, Chunxiang, tell the coachman to stop the carriage in front of him.

"Thank you, but I’m not waiting for a ride," Lin Li said with a smile.

"Oh, I see! Um, Mr. Lin, are you busy with anything right now?" Zhu Xinru asked.

"Not at the moment." Since Lin Li still hadn’t decided what to do next, he shook his head and replied.

Seeing that Lin Li was free, Zhu Xinru smiled and extended an invitation. "Mr. Lin, since you have nothing pressing to do, why don’t you come to my home as a guest?"

"Well..."

"But didn’t we agree last time? You said you’d visit my home when you were free, yet so much time has passed and you still haven’t come... Don’t tell me you think our home is too shabby for a visit!" Zhu Xinru said teasingly.

"That’s not it. The only reason I haven’t visited is that I’ve been quite busy lately and haven’t had the time." Lin Li could clearly tell Zhu Xinru was joking, but he still offered an excuse.

When they saw their Young Miss’s personal maid invite this strange man into the carriage, they knew she must be acting on her mistress’s orders, and looks of shock spread across their faces.

These men had been guards for the Zhu Family for several years and knew their Young Miss’s personality well. This was the first time any of them had ever seen her invite an unfamiliar man to ride in her personal carriage.

Furthermore, they had overheard the entire conversation. For their Young Miss to so enthusiastically invite a man to her family’s home was simply unprecedented.

Seeing the maid, Chunxiang, invite him into the carriage, Lin Li recalled he had already hitched a ride with them once. But even without that prior experience, being from Blue Star, he saw nothing improper about sharing a carriage with a woman.

Having been invited, Lin Li nodded. Without a second thought, he boarded the luxurious carriage and entered the compartment.

As soon as he entered, a light, elegant fragrance wafted over him. He didn’t have to guess the source of the scent.

"Mr. Lin, please, have a seat!" said Zhu Xinru from where she sat on a low couch. Seeing him enter, she immediately smiled and gestured for him to sit at the small table inside.

Once Lin Li was seated, the maid Chunxiang promptly told the coachman to head for home.

"Yah!"

The coachman flicked his reins. The expensive-looking purebred horse WHINNIED a few times, then started forward, pulling the carriage along.

"Huh...?"

As the carriage began to move, Lin Li was surprised to find that the ride was perfectly smooth, without the slightest bump.
