Chapter 749: Chapter 451: The Battles Between Cultivators Are Truly Cruel
"I’ve brought several clients to see this property over the past few days, and there were no issues."
"But this morning, when I brought this client to see the lot, I found that the factory building had been damaged."
"I thought someone had vandalized it on purpose, so the client and I went inside the factory to take a look. That’s when we found a woman lying on the ground. I don’t know anything else."
The real estate agent recounted the morning’s events, carefully explaining everything to the lead Security Officer questioning him.
After listening to the real estate agent’s account, the lead Security Officer silently jotted down the details in his notebook.
Then, he spoke to the two primary witnesses. "We’ll need you to come back to the station with us in a bit. We hope you’ll cooperate..."
The middle-aged man and the real estate agent immediately nodded, offering no objections.
After all, they were both ordinary people who had never encountered a murder case before. Eager to clear their names and put this misfortune behind them, they were more than willing to cooperate with the Security Officers’ investigation.
Just as the lead Security Officer finished questioning the two primary witnesses, a colleague of his wearing glasses walked over.
"How is it? Find any useful clues?" the lead Security Officer asked.
The glasses-wearing Security Officer pushed his frames up the bridge of his nose and said, "Based on the clues collected at the scene, we can basically confirm that this case is related to a Cultivator."
"If it’s related to a Cultivator, then this case will have to be handed over to the Superpower Administration Bureau," the lead Security Officer said, his expression unchanged despite having handled many homicide cases.
Then, he turned to the two witnesses and said, "Looks like you won’t have to come back to the security station with us. When the Investigators from the Superpower Administration Bureau arrive, you’ll cooperate with their investigation..."
"Okay," the two witnesses answered obediently. As long as they could be cleared of suspicion, it made no difference to them whether Security Officers or Investigators were handling the case.
The lead Security Officer then called headquarters, briefly explained the situation, and had the dispatcher transfer the case to the Superpower Administration Bureau so they could send someone to handle it.
About fifteen minutes after the call was made, a Superpower Administration Bureau vehicle arrived in front of the abandoned lumber mill.
The doors opened, and one man and two women stepped out.
Liu Jialin—tall and pretty, with her long, wavy hair tied up high and a serious expression on her face—led her two colleagues toward the crime scene.
......
As noon approached, a luxury sedan drove into Yuwan Town.
Su Yue, with her long, dark hair cascading over her shoulders and wearing a floral dress, sat in the back seat playing on her phone.
Looking up at the streetscape outside the window, Su Yue noticed they weren’t heading home. Confused, she asked Li Ke, who was driving, "Mr. Li, aren’t we going home?"
Li Ke glanced in the rearview mirror. Seeing Su Yue’s confused expression, he smiled and explained, "The boss told me to take you directly to the airport."
"Huh? Why are we going to the airport?!" Su Yue asked, her red lips slightly parted in confusion.
Li Ke explained again, "To take a plane to the Capital City! The boss contacted a friend of his there and asked her to give you a diagnosis."
Su Yue raised her right hand, her slender, jade-like fingers scratching her fair, delicate cheek as she mumbled.
"Dad is being way too dramatic! We could just go to the hospital and have Dr. Liu check me out, and that would be fine."
"Dr. Liu is away on a business trip and isn’t at the hospital. Besides, the specialist the boss hired to treat you, Ms. Wu Xiaoxuan, is much more skilled than Dr. Liu," Li Ke said with a smile.
As they chatted, the car arrived at the town’s airport. The Su Family’s private jet was already prepared and ready for takeoff at a moment’s notice.
Su Chen and his wife were waiting for their daughter in the terminal. When Li Ke brought Su Yue into the VIP lounge, the couple immediately stood up and hurried over to her.
"Xiaoyue, how are you feeling now? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" Zheng Qiuyi asked, looking at her daughter with deep concern.
"I just felt a bit unwell again this morning, but it disappeared soon after I woke up.
"From the time I left the house until now, I haven’t felt uncomfortable again." Su Yue explained what had happened that morning. After hearing this, an obvious look of worry appeared on Zheng Qiuyi’s face.
Seeing the change in Zheng Qiuyi’s expression, Su Yue felt a pang of regret for telling her about the incident that morning.
She forced a smile and said, "Mom, aren’t we about to go to the Capital City for treatment? It’s fine, you don’t need to worry..."
Hearing her daughter’s comforting words, Zheng Qiuyi’s anxiety lessened slightly.
Su Chen stood to the side, not saying much. The moment his daughter came into view, he had used his Perception to sense the faint, intermittent Spiritual Energy Waves emanating from her—waves that an ordinary Cultivator would find difficult to detect.
At that moment, he personally confirmed that the seal on his daughter was indeed loosening.
"Alright, let’s not waste any more time. Let’s go," Su Chen said to his wife and daughter.
Then, he turned to Li Ke and instructed, "We’re leaving now. If anything comes up at the company that’s difficult to handle, you can call me."
"Yes, Boss," Li Ke nodded. He then watched as the Su family of three left the terminal and boarded their private jet.
A moment later, the plane taxied down the runway under the pilot’s control, took off, and quickly became a small black dot before vanishing into the sky.
Watching the plane disappear, Li Ke muttered to himself, "I hope this trip to the Capital City solves her problem." Then he turned and left the airport.
......
Back at the abandoned lumber mill, Liu Jialin, who had taken over the case, asked the lead Security Officer, "Have you pulled and reviewed all the surveillance footage from the surrounding area?"
"There’s no surveillance right around the crime scene, so we could only pull and review the footage from cameras near this location," the lead Security Officer replied.
"Find any useful clues?" Liu Jialin asked.
"No, we didn’t find any useful clues. The perpetrator clearly chose this location precisely because there are no cameras in this area," the lead Security Officer said.
"What’s the approximate time of death?" Liu Jialin asked next.
The lead Security Officer relayed the details his colleague had reported earlier.
"The time of death was approximately 9:15 last night. The fatal wound is to the heart, stabbed from behind with a dagger..."
Frowning, Liu Jialin listened and gave a slight nod. Then, she turned to the two witnesses to ask them about what they had seen at the crime scene.
Just then, Liu Jialin’s two colleagues walked over.
The short-haired girl, a faint golden Spiritual Light glinting in her eyes, had just finished investigating the traces of battle at the scene. She reported, "It’s confirmed, the perpetrator is definitely a Cultivator.
"Furthermore, based on the residual battle traces, we know that a fight broke out here between two Cultivators who were at least at the Second Order Middle Stage.
"The loser was ultimately turned into that pile of ash in the factory."
When everyone present heard that the pile of ash in the factory was what remained of a Cultivator of at least the Second Order Middle Stage, their expressions all changed slightly, revealing their shock.
’Fighting between Cultivators is so brutal! To be turned to ash right after dying, not even a complete body left behind.’
Afterward, Liu Jialin took the two witnesses back to the Superpower Administration Bureau.
Because the crime scene was in such a remote location and there were no cameras nearby, solving a case like this would be extremely difficult. After officially opening the investigation, the most likely scenario was that they would only make progress if they happened to stumble upon related clues while solving other cases in the future.
