Chapter 765: Chapter 459: He’s a Good Person, but the Aura He Gives Off Is So Scary

"Meow... What’s wrong?" The Little Black Cat saw its companion’s movement, looked puzzled for a moment, then realization slowly dawned. "Is that person named Lin Li about to come out?"

"Meow... Yes." The Little White Cat nodded, its eyes fixed on the distant entrance of Building Three.

The two little critters sat on the grass within the green belt, watching the entrance of Building Three. A moment later, just as the Little White Cat had predicted, Lin Li—dressed in a white T-shirt and beige casual pants—indeed walked out of the building’s entrance.

Lin Li was eager to break through to the third tier and gain greater power as soon as possible, making the Magical Little Fruit the key to his short-term advancement.

To speed up the ripening of the newly grown Magical Little Fruit on the Magical Little Tree, he had eaten breakfast, changed his clothes, and left immediately.

’The weather isn’t great today. I just checked the forecast, and it’s going to rain later. I’ve never hunted Mutant Beasts in the wilderness during the rain before. The muddy ground will really hinder my performance. My haul today will probably be worse than yesterday’s...’

As Lin Li emerged from the building, he quietly muttered his analysis to himself while walking toward his parked car.

The two little stray cats sitting on the grass in the green belt watched Lin Li approach from a distance. Their tails began to sway subconsciously, their big, round eyes filled with anticipation.

Although the two little stray cats were very wary of Lin Li, his previous feedings made them unable to resist trying to catch his eye.

"Meow..."

Watching Lin Li walk past the green belt without giving them a second glance, the gluttonous Little Black Cat grew anxious and meowed at his retreating figure.

"Hm?" The meow from behind broke Lin Li’s train of thought, and he stopped in his tracks.

’These two little guys are here bright and early, and they’re meowing at me. Have they figured out my schedule, hoping to beg for food?’

Lin Li watched the two little stray cats, pondering for over a minute. Then, with a flicker of thought, two sausage sticks appeared in his hand.

After tearing open the wrappers, he tossed the sausages toward the two little strays from a distance, just like before.

The incredibly fragrant and tempting sausages landed on the grass, rolling a few times.

The two little stray cats glanced at the sausages, then looked back at Lin Li.

’What’s this about? Do you two want more sausages?’ Lin Li was puzzled. The two little strays had only glanced at the food before looking back at him.

"Meow... I want to eat bee pupae," the Little Black Cat called out to Lin Li.

The Little White Cat turned to its gluttonous companion and complained, "Meow... What are you doing? He can’t understand us."

"Meow... Oh, right. He’s not Zhou Tongtong. He can’t understand us," the Little Black Cat said, scratching its head with a little paw.

Just as the two little stray cats were talking, an idea flashed through Lin Li’s mind. He retrieved a small bag from the Mysterious Small Island, took out two golden-fried bee pupae dusted with salt and pepper, and tossed them toward the cats.

This small bag of fried bee pupae was a snack Lin Li had prepared for himself, something to tide him over if he got hungry while hunting Mutant Beasts in the wilderness before it was time for a proper meal.

"Meow...?" The two little stray cats looked at the two small, golden things that had landed in front of them. They meowed in confusion before stepping forward to sniff them.

"Meow... It smells so good!" the Little Black Cat exclaimed, then gobbled up the fried bee pupa in front of it.

"Meow... I still prefer the taste from yesterday," the Little White Cat said after eating its fried pupa.

"Meow... It’s alright! I like both," the Little Black Cat said, licking its lips. It looked up toward Lin Li, only to find he was already gone.

VROOOM...

The roar of an engine starting up echoed from the distance. The two little stray cats watched the familiar van leave the complex.

"Meow... You said he’s dangerous, but I think he’s a good person, just like Zhou Tongtong said," the Little Black Cat commented, still savoring the taste of the fried pupa.

"Meow... Oh, you. He gives you some food and you’re completely won over," the Little White Cat said.

"Meow... How is that being won over? I’m just saying what I really feel. Besides, you ate what he gave you too, didn’t you?" the Little Black Cat retorted.

"..." The Little White Cat couldn’t refute its friend’s words and could only say weakly, "Meow... Even if he is a good person, the aura he gives off is terrifying! Whenever he gets close, I just feel panicked."

"Meow... You’re being too sensitive. You never used to be like this! What’s gotten into you lately?" The Little Black Cat looked at its companion, confused, sensing that something was off.

"Meow... I don’t know either," the Little White Cat replied, its tail swaying.

Then, it walked over to the sausage Lin Li had tossed onto the grass and lowered its head to eat.

As it ate, a faint golden Spiritual Light once again flashed in the depths of its eyes.

...

After leaving the complex, Lin Li drove his van toward the outskirts of the East District.

On the way, after passing an intersection, he was just about to reach the city outskirts near the wilderness when his phone suddenly vibrated and chimed softly in his pocket.

BZZT.

DING.

Slowing the van, Lin Li pulled his phone from his pocket, unlocked the screen, and saw a message from Zhang Yuxi.

"Lin Li, are you up yet?" the message read.

"I’m up. What is it?" Lin Li typed back.

A few seconds after he sent his message, Zhang Yuxi replied.

"It’s about the batch of pearls you gave me. I sent them off, and they arrived in the Capital City yesterday. My friend inspected the shipment and has accepted it.

She’s extremely satisfied with the quality and asked me to check with you on the status of the remaining two hundred thousand pearls."

Lin Li quickly read Zhang Yuxi’s message, then pulled the car over to the side of the road. ’Tsk, I completely forgot about that...,’ he muttered.

Lin Li had previously arranged a deal for two hundred thousand pearls with Liu Yun from Dongwu City in the Spirit Realm, promising to pick them up in a day or two.

But then Su Yue was kidnapped, and he became so focused on gaining more power that he’d completely forgotten about going to Liu Yun to collect the shipment.

TAP, TAP, TAP...

Lin Li’s fingers flew across the phone screen as he typed a reply to Zhang Yuxi.

"The pearls should be just about ready. I’ll give you a firm answer by the end of today.

Barring any surprises, I’ll come to your shop tomorrow morning and deliver the remaining two hundred thousand pearls."

A few seconds after Zhang Yuxi received Lin Li’s reply, she sent another message. "Okay, I’ll call my friend in a bit and update her."

Putting his phone away, Lin Li thought for a moment and came to a decision.

’The forecast says it’s going to rain later, which will make conditions in the wild terrible and hinder my performance. In that case, why don’t I just go hunt Mutant Beasts in the Spirit Realm? It’s not like the Magical Little Tree is picky; it doesn’t reject Flesh and Blood Essence from Spirit Realm beasts. I’ll go to Dongwu City, pick up the shipment from Liu Yun, and then head straight outside the city to hunt.’

Having made his decision, Lin Li focused his thoughts, and he and his van vanished completely.

Fortunately, he was already very close to the wilderness on the outskirts of the city, an area where the roads were nearly deserted.

Otherwise, if anyone had seen his little stunt, they would have been scared out of their minds.
