Chapter 769: Chapter 461: A Return to the Original Trajectory?

"Su Chen, why do you have such a serious expression? Did you find a problem with my seal?" Wu Xiaoxuan asked, looking at Su Chen and noticing his solemn face.

When Su Chen heard his old friend’s question, the serious expression on his face vanished. He smiled and said, "Just now, after you finished reinforcing the seal, I thought I saw a faint, golden Spiritual Light flash from Xiaoyue’s Dantian.

Then, I used my Spiritual Perception to check, but I didn’t find anything unusual. It must have been my imagination..."

Upon hearing this, Wu Xiaoxuan thought for a moment. To be on the safe side, she checked the seal on Su Yue’s Dantian again. Finding nothing out of the ordinary, she thought, ’It’s probably just as Su Chen said. He must have imagined it.’

She then activated the Hypnosis Props again, releasing Su Yue from the hypnotic state.

Su Yue, who was sound asleep on the lab table, felt her long eyelashes flutter a few times before she slowly opened her eyes.

"Xiaoyue," Zheng Qiuyi called out, seeing her daughter awake.

"Mom." Su Yue hopped off the lab table. "Is the examination over?"

"Yes," Zheng Qiuyi said with a smile and a nod.

"So what was causing me to feel unwell?" Su Yue asked curiously.

Zheng Qiuyi turned to look at Wu Xiaoxuan. The latter smiled at Su Yue and said, "After my examination, I didn’t find any unusual conditions.

You’ve been feeling unwell probably because you’ve been working too hard lately.

Use the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival holiday to get some proper rest at home. After that, you shouldn’t experience this again."

"Huh?!!" Su Yue was stunned for a moment. What Wu Xiaoxuan said was almost identical to what the doctor had told her after her checkup at a private hospital.

Although she didn’t quite believe it, she reminded herself that this woman was an old friend of her parents and held an important position at the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute. ’She wouldn’t lie to me.’ With that, her doubts vanished.

’Could it be that I’ve been feeling unwell simply because I’ve been working too hard helping my students rehearse for the Mid-Autumn Festival performance? I must have really worn myself out.’

Su Yue mulled it over and settled on what she felt was a reasonably plausible explanation.

"Alright, we’ve taken up enough of your time. We should get going," Su Chen said to his old friend. "I have to come to the Capital City again next month. Let’s make plans to get a meal together then."

"Of course," Wu Xiaoxuan replied with a smile.

As the vice president of the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute, she certainly had a lot on her plate.

If it hadn’t been her old friend Su Chen, anyone else who came asking for help would have had to be scheduled for a later date, even if she were willing to assist.

Afterwards, Wu Xiaoxuan saw Su Chen and his family to the main gate of the Spiritual Energy Research Institute. Only after watching them get in their car and drive away did she turn and head back to her lab.

"When are we going home?" Su Yue asked.

"Before we left this morning, I asked the housekeeper to prepare lunch. So, we’ll go back to the villa first. After we eat and rest for a bit, we’ll head to the airport," Zheng Qiuyi explained with a smile.

RING RING RING...

Su Chen, sitting in the front passenger seat, felt his phone ring. He answered it.

"Hello."

"Yes, I arrived yesterday evening... Something unexpected came up that I had to deal with."

"It’s been handled. I’m heading back this afternoon. We can grab a meal next time."

"Ah... Alright. In that case, I’ll come see you this afternoon."

After hanging up, Su Chen glanced in the rearview mirror and saw his wife and daughter looking at him quizzically from the back seat.

"A friend from one of the relevant departments has something to discuss with me. I have to go meet him this afternoon. After lunch, you two can head to the airport and go home first," Su Chen told his wife and daughter.

"Dad, why don’t we all go back together after you’re finished talking with your friend?" Su Yue suggested.

Su Chen looked at his daughter with affection. "He briefly mentioned on the phone what it’s about. It’s a bit complicated, so I’ll most likely have to stay in the Capital City for a few more days. You two should go on home first."

"But the Mid-Autumn Festival is almost here. The whole point is for the family to be together.

Since you’ll most likely be in the Capital City for a few more days, what’s the point of the two of us going back? We’ll just stay here and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in the Capital City," Zheng Qiuyi chimed in. Su Yue, sitting beside her, nodded in agreement.

"Alright. I’ll go meet my friend this afternoon. If it turns out I really do have to stay in the Capital City for a few extra days, we’ll celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival here," Su Chen said with a smile.

Just then, the car was passing a supermarket. "Stop the car here for a second," Su Yue called out.

The driver, a man in a crisp suit, heard the young miss’s command and immediately slowed the car to a stop.

Noticing her parents’ puzzled looks, Su Yue smiled and explained, "Well, the Mid-Autumn Festival is almost here, right? I was thinking I’d buy some ingredients and make my own mooncakes.

There’s a supermarket over there. You two wait here for me, I’ll just run in and buy the ingredients. I’ll be right back."

Hearing that his daughter wanted to make mooncakes herself, Su Chen felt a surge of anticipation. "I’ll go with you!" he said with a smile.

"No, it’s fine. I can go by myself. Dad, you just wait for me in the car," Su Yue said with a smile. She opened the door, got out, and walked toward the nearby intersection with a graceful sway in her step.

"This is the first time Xiaoyue has decided to make her own mooncakes for the festival. I wonder how they’ll taste," Zheng Qiuyi remarked with a smile.

"Any mooncakes Xiaoyue makes herself are bound to be delicious," Su Chen said to his wife, full of confidence.

Zheng Qiuyi looked at her husband’s expectant face and shook her head with a smile. She knew that no matter how the mooncakes turned out, her husband would declare them delicious.

Of course, their daughter was exceptionally talented in the kitchen, so her husband’s confidence was well-founded.

In the distance, Su Yue crossed the road and hurried toward the supermarket, muttering to herself as she walked.

’Lin Li really likes red bean paste mooncakes... ah, and he likes the salted egg yolk ones, too. I’ll make extra of those two kinds.’

With the seal reinforced and the crisis averted, everything seemed to be back on track.

But unbeknownst to anyone, a faint, almost imperceptible golden Spiritual Light once again flashed from Su Yue’s Dantian.

......

「In a corner of the vast, boundless Spirit Realm—Dongwu City, within the Chu Kingdom.」

The weather in Dongwu City was excellent today. A scorching sun hung high in a crystal-clear blue sky, bathing everything in its sweltering heat.

WHOOSH...

A gentle breeze swept across the river, sending ripples across its surface. The few remaining plants on the bank swayed softly.

At the devastated pier belonging to the Red Blood Gang, the scene of rubble and ruins made it difficult to imagine that this had once been a pier bustling with activity.

Several days had passed since the massive brawl between powerful Cultivators had taken place at the pier.

The magistrate’s office had dispatched several of its most capable constables to conduct a thorough investigation, searching for any trace that might lead them to the masked culprit.

Unfortunately, after several days, the investigation had yielded very little. The existing clues were not enough to track down the masked culprit, who had now caused two major disturbances in the city.

The magistrate was reportedly furious, ordering the constables on the case to find that damned masked culprit by a strict deadline.

This order from their superior was enough to make the constables tear their hair out. Based on their years of experience, all the clues suggested that the masked troublemaker had never left the pier that night.

And yet, the masked culprit was gone, as if he had performed a vanishing act right there on the pier.

Considering their target was a Cultivator of immense power, the constables on the case speculated that he must have awakened some kind of Superpower that allowed him to conceal his presence.

A Cultivator who had awakened such a Superpower was the most difficult type of criminal to apprehend, a fact that filled the investigating constables with despair.

The wrecked pier, littered with rubble, was completely deserted and eerily quiet.

Suddenly, a figure materialized out of thin air on the pier.

After appearing, Lin Li, dressed in a black training uniform, scanned his surroundings before quickly departing from the pier he had utterly destroyed.
