Chapter 156: Lance's Hospital of the People: The Number One Hospital of Ikerite City

"Hahaha, hahahaha!"

On the floor of the sanctuary, Count Palokas was like a wild beast, unable to break free from the chains of his own prey. His chest was rising and falling crazily. Every inhale came with mocking laughter, and every exhale came with roars. He struggled mightily.

This group of lowly humans, who have not yet understood the seriousness of the problem, would soon lose their arrogance once the full wrath of a vampire count fell upon them. As Palokas laughed uproariously, Lance handed the giant syringe with a needle attached to the executioner.

"Mr. Executioner, our job is to save people, and that's everything." For some reason, it felt like medical alarm bells were blaring, indicating that their patient was approaching a life-threatening crisis. "You have to do your best for the patient in front of you."

"Okay."

The executioner took the Blood Pressure Rescue Device. Although he was not a doctor, he believed that he would be able to use this medical equipment with ease.

White light illuminated every corner, and the cold steel of the medical equipment reflected the dazzling light. In this pure white emergency room, everything was strictly controlled and time was accurate to the milliseconds.

The patient was now ready for surgery. His face was distorted by pain and mental stress, and the blood flowing in his veins seemed to be burning. Even without looking through a blood pressure monitor, they could tell that his blood pressure was too high.

The tense atmosphere solidified in the air, leaving only the breathing sound of a disordered electrocardiogram and the dull beating of a high-load heart. In the center under the ceiling, the executioner skillfully found the largest blood vessel on the count's arm, the brachial artery. His eyes were fixed on the vampire's skin, preparing to draw excess blood from him.

"Hahahahaha... you finally know how to be afraid? Think carefully about what will happen when the sun disappears."

The light reflected from the glass hit Count Palokas's face coldly, and the floor tiles were smudged by the blood stains left by his serious injury. A strange smile flashed on his face, and then the vampire laughed loudly, as if he was celebrating a very happy event.

The executioner held the syringe, his eyes still filled with fanaticism. "Praise the Goddess..."

According to Mr. Lance's ecological research report, the vampires of this era treated humans as toys for food and enjoyment. The stronger the vampires, the more immeasurable evils they had committed. In other words, subduing them would also be an immense merit.

A terrifying smile appeared on the corners of the executioner's lips. He squatted down, pushed the needle of the syringe into the brachial artery, took a deep breath, tightened his arm muscles, and began to pull the plunger of the syringe.

The moment the tip of the needle penetrated his skin, Count Palokas only felt something itchy. Compared with the pain just now, it could even be called no feeling at all. Then, a cold feeling spread along his body.

He trembled violently, but he was quickly held down by the paladin and the male bodyguard.

"Don't be afraid, it won't hurt..."

The executioner began to slowly draw out the blood. As he pulled at the plunger of the syringe, it felt like he was stripping away life from Palokas. The three clergy watched the blood rising in the transparent tube. The crimson liquid looked heavy and turbid, as if there were countless merits hidden in it.

An expression of disbelief suddenly appeared on Palokas' face. He had been ready to mock this group for being at the end of their rope, but his mind raced as he gradually realized what they were doing.

"W-what are you doing?! Stop it at once! You damned worms!" Palokas screamed in a frenzy, sounding like a flayed beast. For the first time in his existence, he had touched something far more terrifying than death, and he thrashed wildly in a desperate attempt to break free.

Gradually he began to feel waves of dizziness. His consciousness blurred, and his body grew increasingly weightless. Each pull of the plunger felt as though his life force was being drained away bit by bit. He wanted to resist, but his body felt pinned down by a massive boulder, rendering him unable to move.

Lance's gentle voice sounded right beside Palokas's ear. "Take a deep breath. Feeling dizzy is normal."

"No!!!" Palokas's voice trembled. He finally understood just what a deranged, terrifying monster that black-haired, green-eyed fellow truly was. As his noble blood was extracted, he could clearly feel his proud power ebbing away and sensation fading from his limbs. Every heartbeat felt like a heavy blow, making time crawl at a snail's pace.

The executioner operated at full intensity, vigorously pulling the plunger back and ruthlessly extracting Palokas's blood.

"Aaaah..." The surrounding air seemed to freeze. Only the faint, struggling sound of Palokas's breathing remained.

Lance clasped his hands behind his back and said with satisfaction, "Hyperion, our project, On Ecological Balance and the Governance of the Vampires, has now yielded some valuable preliminary data and practical results."

Hyperion was startled by this. "Our...?"

She had overheard Lance discussing his academic project plans earlier while he was talking to Princess Alexia on the second floor. However, she hadn't expected that she, too, had already been included on the list of project researchers.

Lance looked at her in surprise. "Your name will definitely be added to the final paper."

After hesitating for a full two seconds, Hyperion squeezed her eyes shut and nodded in anguish. "...Alright, then. Thank you."

She knew Lance was a truly kind person to give her credit. However, if she had the choice, she really wouldn't want her name appearing in the author list of that paper. After all, it was a research paper that was destined to be absolutely outrageous. Writing that paper would be like drafting a war criminal's confession, with the byline serving as the list of war criminals.

Unfortunately, she had no choice but to make the trip to the Krati Empire to deal with the vampires. In fact, that journey was even more important for her than it was for Lance. Hyperion could only tearfully resign herself to sharing the credit for the research findings with Lance. Things had already reached a point of no return. Visiting a Church of the Goddess of Fate was now out of the question.

Just as they were chatting while watching the blood being drained, the young master from Cambella, who had originally been seated at the banquet table, wandered over to observe the procedure being performed on the vampire count and asked, "By the way, even though the vampire gets weaker during the day, we still have to keep draining his blood constantly, right?"

He wasn't the least bit afraid now. He had come to view the vampire count as nothing more than a trivial nuisance.

The stern-faced female bodyguard stared at the young master in shock. She never imagined that their young master, usually so dim-witted and kind-hearted, could now utter such a depraved statement without batting an eye.

Upon reflection, the idea of keeping a vampire count imprisoned in the castle every night was indeed unsettling. If the vampire had somehow replenished his blood and seized a chance to retaliate, everyone could find themselves trapped in an irreversible, fatal situation.

"Mm, but don't worry. I guarantee everyone will be able to eat and sleep soundly. We're definitely going to have a great time over the next four days!" Lance turned back to look at them with a smile. His demeanor was as sunny and cheerful as ever.

Upon seeing his guileless smile, the others instantly understood that he was planning something even more unhinged. Yet, the fact that he was on their side made that realization feel almost too reassuring.
