I Swear I'm Not a Demon Masquerading as a Human

Chapter 53: The Poet of Boundless Love is Very Happy Again

At that moment, the ticking of the classroom clock seemed to completely cease. All other sounds vanished, leaving only a low, reverberating growl hanging in the air. The oppressive silence was so stifling that the hapless demon student could only clutch his pen with trembling hands. His breathing became shallow and imperceptible.

Then, Lance flicked his final card, glowing with an orange hue, from his hand. Instantly, a soft yet alluring voice echoed vibrantly. "A boundless love has descended!"

A gray haired female demon appeared beside Lance, and she smiled radiantly as she held her left hand to her chest while raising her right hand high, facing upward. Clad in a deep crimson gown, she moved with the grace of a dancer.

"Aaaah!!!"

It was as if a massive bucket of oil had been poured onto the raging fire already burning within the owl demon. His mind went blank, leaving him no time to even wonder where that crisp, feminine voice had come from. The fury exploding within him erupted like a volcano. All of his mental restraints were insignificant against such an unstoppable force, and they snapped completely at that instant.

The owl demon lunged forward. His talons, fueled by every ounce of his strength and rage, drove straight toward the dragon demon's eyes. The dragon demon was unable to react in time, and blood splattered. He was left with a mangled, bloody face and let out a piercing scream.

His hands trembled as he struggled to cling onto the last shred of his sanity, but it was futile under the influence of that bewitching voice. Driven by a torrent of blind rage, he lunged forward uncontrollably, intent only on killing the demon who had viciously attacked him without a second thought!

The two proctors were now locked in a savage, bloody brawl! All logic had vanished entirely. Their sole objective was to tear the other apart and render them dead.

Once the first blow was struck, it could no longer be explained or undone. Chaos reigned in the classroom. The battle between the two teachers was a brutal and raw outpouring of primal murderous intent.

The clash transcended mere physical blows and had become a desperate struggle to utterly annihilate and overwhelm the opponent. They even resorted to tearing at one another with their teeth. Flesh and blood spilled from their jaws, evoking a gruesome spectacle of beasts devouring their prey.

The violent shockwaves instantly pulverized the wooden furniture into splinters, while blood and ink mingled across the floor. The once-dim walls were now drenched in a vivid, gory crimson, resembling a horrific mural that played out a scene of unspeakable cruelty.

Students who failed to escape in time fell victim to the fray. Their screams echoed through the air like the wailing of ghosts, striking terror into the hearts of their classmates. The spreading fear amplified rapidly, stripping most of them of the will to flee. Instead, they simply huddled in place, clutching their heads and shrieking in sheer despair.

In the span of just a few seconds, every demon in the exam hall went mad, turning the scene into a hellish, chaotic frenzy. Only a handful of students with exceptionally strong willpower managed to stay lucid, and they immediately chose to flee. The two proctors no longer had the presence of mind to care whether any candidates were escaping.

Naturally, the first to bolt was the instigator himself, Lance. He shoved the pen and ink bottle from the desk into his pockets and made a run for it.

Hyperion had already anticipated that Lance was about to stir up trouble, so she had mentally prepared herself before she heard the Poet’s beguiling voice. Although that vicious card also amplified the negative emotions within her, Lance's calm, gentle voice had cut through the chaos.

"Run."

She steadied herself in an instant, and her eyes filled with determination. Alongside Lance, she quickly sprinted toward the main entrance via the leftmost aisle. Yet, she noticed that Lance hadn't forgotten to loot items from the corpses of the demon students he had just sent to the afterlife.

This whole thing was being broadcast live! As a duke's daughter who had been raised with strict etiquette and expectations, Hyperion found it difficult to comment on Lance's behavior, yet she sensed that her teammate was thoroughly enjoying himself and seemed to be hoping she would join in.

So, gritting her teeth, she cast an invisibility spell to hide herself and moved as swiftly and lightly as the wind as she rushed over to help Lance loot more corpses.

Back in Gela Memorial Plaza, the sky was shifting from light to darkness as the clock was leisurely ticking toward six. The silhouettes of the buildings blurred into the gathering darkness, while the massive outdoor screen at the center of the plaza stood out with increasing vividness against the twilight.

The number of students in the plaza was visibly growing. They converged from all directions, and the steps were already dotted with seated onlookers.

Someone gasped, "What just happened?"

Moments ago, most students had only seen Lance use a few enchanted cards in quick succession. In the blink of an eye, the two demon examiners inside the exam venue had inexplicably gone berserk.

It had all happened so quickly and had made such a bizarre turn that the students watching the giant screen began turning to one another, asking if they had missed something.

"If I'm not mistaken... Is he actually just playing around in this Level 4 dungeon?"

For a fleeting moment, they didn't even have time to be astonished by the fact that Lance possessed an Epic card. Although none of the students recognized the specific cards he had used, and the College of Magical Engineering hadn't displayed any identification data on the screen, the general effects of the cards aside from the Epic one weren't hard to guess.

Gradually, the crowd before the magical screen began to piece together Lance's strategy to blow through this dungeon: simply eliminate the examiners.

Someone commented, "I get the feeling Hyperion is going to be led astray by him... But shouldn't she be the demon here...?"

Far away from the large open-air screen and steps that were slowly starting to fill up with people, a person with gray hair and golden eyes happened to pass leisurely. She was holding a piece of cheesecake that had a bite taken out, and she was chewing leisurely.

She looked slightly in the direction of the crowd, then frowned and stopped. As she looked at the broadcast, Talia muttered to herself, "The ancient demon kingdom..."

Being able to watch the live broadcast of someone challenging the real Shadow Realm was also of some value to her. So occasionally, when she passed by the university, she would glance at the magical screen. Today, however, she just came to buy some snacks from a dessert shop on campus. They had boasted that they had received a review scoring their cakes a 95 out of 100 from a well-known gourmet.

Of course, this was all thanks to Lance. He had given her so much money and always found some super delicious restaurants when eating out with her. Now that she lived a relaxing life of collecting money and waiting for debts to be repaid, she had no choice but to do leisurely things. In other words, besides enjoying life in the capital, she had nothing else to do.

I didn't expect that I'd see a demon-themed dungeon on the giant screen today.

Generally speaking, it was difficult to enter a Shadow Realm challenge focusing on the demon's history, since most of these challenges were done by humans. As for the dungeon in front of her, even Talia couldn't tell how long ago it was in the history of the demon race!
