Chapter 385: Chapter 300: Elder Wei’s Arrangements
Yu Changsheng fell silent for a moment. With a lowered gaze, he bowed to Yang Tianyi with a cupped fist, then took the Nascent Building Grass from his Storage Pouch and handed it over.
"I’ll have to trouble you then, Elder. If you need anything else, I should have it on hand."
"No need," Yang Tianyi said, waving his hand dismissively. "Aside from the Nascent Building Grass, the other ingredients for the Solidification Pill are fairly common. I have them all prepared; only the grass was missing."
"The Solidification Pill is a High Tier elixir among Fourth-Grade Elixirs, and it’s extremely difficult to refine. You won’t be able to make it for now, but you can stand guard for me as my Dharma Protector. If you observe carefully, you will benefit from the experience."
"Yes, I understand."
Yu Changsheng nodded gently.
Yang Tianyi took a deep breath. After closing his eyes to compose himself for half an hour, he walked back to the Alchemy Room with Yu Changsheng following close behind.
"Refining a Solidification Pill is a delicate process. Watch carefully and do not make a sound."
After giving the instruction, Yang Tianyi sat down cross-legged. He performed a Finger Technique, and the Earth Fire roared to life, causing the surrounding temperature to spike. He began taking out the Spiritual Medicines one by one, refining them before tossing them into the Alchemy Furnace.
The Flame surged, shifting from a gentle, slow burn to a violent inferno. Inside the Alchemy Room, the temperature steadily climbed. With the constant expenditure of Magical Power, even someone of Yang Tianyi’s skill in alchemy and level of Cultivation began to show signs of mental fatigue.
"Kind Heart Fire, Morning Glory, Overlord Branch..."
"Star Leaf, Dangchen, Nascent Building Grass..."
The refining process continued for a full six hours. By the time he added the final Spiritual Medicine, the Flame surged violently. Beads of sweat dripped down Yang Tianyi’s forehead, evaporating almost instantly in the intense heat.
The alchemy was entering its final stage, and a faint, sweet fragrance began to diffuse from the furnace.
At this crucial moment, Yang Tianyi’s expression grew even more focused. He didn’t dare relax. His eyes narrowed, and with a low growl, he yelled, "Condense!"
He slammed his palm down on the Alchemy Furnace. Instantly, the lid flew open and a green light flashed from within. A perfectly round, cyan-green elixir the size of a Dragon Eye shot out. It radiated immense Vitality and gave off a faint, sweet fragrance. A single Pill Pattern was etched upon its surface.
"A Fourth-Grade Elixir, the Solidification Pill. A success at last. This thing is a real pain to make."
Yang Tianyi gasped for breath. Looking at the elixir in his hand, a faint smile touched his weary face as he placed it into an Elixir Bottle.
Refining a Fourth-Grade Elixir required six straight hours of intense mental focus and a constant drain of Magical Power. For Yang Tianyi, the toll was significant.
The higher the Grade of an elixir, the more complex the refinement, and the more details the Alchemist must manage. Without a powerful Cultivation to back them up, no matter how profound an Alchemist’s understanding of the Alchemy Dao, the Grade of elixirs they could produce would always be limited.
Now that Yang Tianyi had reached the Golden Core realm, refining a Fourth-Grade Elixir was tiring but not impossible. He could even manage a simple Fifth-Grade Elixir if he pushed himself. ’But anything higher than that... my Cultivation is definitely not enough.’
After all, in terms of Grade, Third-Grade Elixirs were sufficient for Golden Core cultivators. Fourth Grade corresponded to the Purple Mansion realm, and Fifth Grade was meant for Divinity Transformation experts.
This was precisely why Yu Changsheng hadn’t acted, even though he had enough Essence Points to upgrade his Alchemy Dao to Fourth Grade at any moment.
His Cultivation couldn’t keep up. Even if his Alchemy Dao theoretically reached Tier Four, he wouldn’t be able to handle the intensity required for the actual process of refining a Fourth-Grade Elixir.
This was evident from how Yang Tianyi was nearly exhausted after refining a single Solidification Pill, and had even consumed several supplementary elixirs midway through the process.
"With you taking charge, Elder, success was a matter of course, no matter how difficult the Solidification Pill is to make."
Yu Changsheng chuckled and stepped forward to wipe the sweat from Yang Tianyi’s forehead.
"Alright, that’s enough. Now I finally have something to show Mo Pengchen. For Zhang Tianwen’s sake, that guy Mo Pengchen has taken advantage of me more than a few times over the years."
Yang Tianyi shook his head with a light laugh. He handed the Elixir Bottle containing the Solidification Pill to Yu Changsheng and said with a smile,
"You deliver this Solidification Pill to Zhang Tianwen. As for payment... since you’re the one who asked, Changsheng, tell him not to bring it up. I won’t accept anything he offers. I don’t need it."
"Hopefully, he can successfully form his Eighth-Layer Spirit Platform this time. That would be the best possible outcome."
Yu Changsheng was taken aback for a moment. As he accepted the Solidification Pill, a warmth spread through his heart. He didn’t refuse, simply nodding gently at Yang Tianyi.
"Alright. Thank you, Elder..."
’How could I not understand Elder Yang’s intentions? He didn’t charge a fee, refining the elixir for Zhang Tianwen as a favor to me. He’s even having me deliver it personally. He clearly wants Zhang Tianwen to feel indebted to me for this.’
’After all, even Mo Pengchen would have had to pay a hefty price to request Elder Yang’s alchemy services.’
"Haha, it’s nothing. No trouble at all." Yang Tianyi chuckled. After a moment’s thought, he took out several more Elixir Bottles from his Storage Pouch and handed them to Yu Changsheng.
"What’s this?" Yu Changsheng started, looking at Yang Tianyi in confusion.
"Hmm..." Yang Tianyi hummed in thought, then took a deep breath. He looked at Yu Changsheng solemnly, his voice growing heavy as he spoke.
"You’ve been learning alchemy with me for over a year now. During this time, although I haven’t formally called myself your Master, in truth, I already consider you my disciple."
"That being the case, a Master should give his disciple something. Look at what happened at Huishui Mountain. You will inevitably face many dangers on your path of Cultivation."
Yang Tianyi’s voice hitched, and he let out an almost inaudible sigh.
"I’ve dedicated nearly my entire life to alchemy. The only protection I can offer is to give you more elixirs. That way, when you face a crisis, you’ll have more ways to save your life. These are some I’ve refined in my spare time over the last few years. Take them."
Yang Tianyi chuckled, the kindness in his voice palpable.
Yu Changsheng blinked, his expression softening with emotion. He looked at Yang Tianyi’s sincere face, words catching in his throat. Finally, he gave a solemn nod and said softly,
"Alright... Thank you... Master."
’He could sense that most of the elixirs Yang Tianyi had given him were Third Grade, but there were some Fourth-Grade Elixirs as well. Their total value in Spirit Stones would be astronomical.’
’It was clear Yang Tianyi had spared no expense with this gift; he was genuinely concerned for his well-being.’
’How could Yu Changsheng not be moved? When he thought about it, the gifts he’d received from Yang Tianyi over the past year were already priceless.’
’Calling him Master was only right and proper.’
"Good, good. There’s no need to be so formal. There’s no need for thanks between us."
Hearing this, the smile on Yang Tianyi’s face grew even wider. He beamed at Yu Changsheng and said teasingly,
"Having you as a disciple is an expensive proposition. You’ve nearly cleaned out my entire stock from all these years."
Yu Changsheng gave an embarrassed smile and subconsciously rubbed his nose. Then, as if remembering something, he slapped his forehead. "Actually, I acquired quite a few Spiritual Medicines on Huishui Mountain recently. I can plant them here for you, Master. Consider it a small token of my appreciation."
"Alright, then. When you have a moment, you can help me tend to the Spiritual Medicines in the garden. Speaking of which, as an Alchemist, you really ought to master some Spirit Plant Techniques."
Yang Tianyi didn’t seem to mind much. He simply nodded and, after giving a few more instructions, returned to the inner courtyard to rest. Refining that one Solidification Pill had taken a great toll on both his Magical Power and his Divine Soul. While he could replenish his Magical Power with elixirs, the fatigue of his Divine Soul could only be healed with rest.
’Spirit Plant Technique? That’s easy. If he hadn’t brought it up, I would’ve almost forgotten I even have that Skill.’
Yu Changsheng slapped his forehead, muttering to himself.
