Chapter 490: Chapter 352: Replenishing the Source

Behind Yu Changsheng, the once-blurry shadow of the Giant Sword took on a physical form. It slowly sharpened, starting from the hilt, as a boundless, dawn-like radiance gently burst from the blade and illuminated the surroundings.

A shocking Sword Intent slowly began to brew. It was an unstoppable and incomparably dominant force that, combined with the magnificent, shimmering radiance, seemed capable of Opening the Heavens.

[Consumed 300,000 Essence Points! Successfully upgraded Taichu Heaven Opening Sword to Minor Achievement!]

[Taichu Heaven Opening Sword: Minor Achievement (1000/1000000)]

...

After briefly processing the new insights in his mind, Yu Changsheng didn’t hesitate to invest more points.

BOOM!

A clap of thunder echoed from the void. With the upgrade of the Taichu Heaven Opening Sword, a Heaven-reaching Sword Intent instantly erupted within the Trial Land. The shadow of the Giant Sword behind Yu Changsheng solidified completely, unleashing a boundless might.

This Giant Sword shimmered with a brilliant golden radiance, appearing sacred and inviolable. With just a gentle sway, the Sword Power it unleashed tore a rift in the surrounding space, enough to make one’s heart pound in terror.

It was impossible to look at directly. The intent of Taichu’s Heaven Opening bombarded one’s Divine Soul, shaking the mind and spirit to their core.

As Sword Qi surged forth, another two thousand Sword Shadows instantly defected. Influenced by this single sword, they broke from their original trajectories and hung motionless in the air.

In total, five thousand Sword Shadows were now under Yu Changsheng’s influence.

"He did it. He’s passed."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit smiled faintly and muttered to himself in a voice only he could hear.

’Still, I never thought this kid would actually manage to comprehend this sword technique. This is my master’s ultimate art... I suppose it’s only fitting that his junior martial brother has learned it...’

...

The Sword Shadows swayed, exuding an unparalleled might. At that moment, ten thousand of them filled the sky, their majestic aura obscuring the heavens and the starlight. Suddenly, half their number turned around. They floated to Yu Changsheng’s side, bobbing up and down as if to guard him, forming a standoff with the remaining five thousand Sword Shadows.

Reaching this point meant that Yu Changsheng had already passed the trial.

But Yu Changsheng wasn’t satisfied with just this.

Looking up at the sky full of Sword Shadows, Yu Changsheng let out a soft breath. His gaze suddenly sharpened, like a sword held within, ready to sever all starry illusions. With a light wave of his arm, he softly spoke two words:

"Swords, come!"

RUMBLE!

The illusory Giant Sword rapidly solidified and grew distinct. Its Sword Intent erupted, piercing the heavens as a terrifying storm formed with Yu Changsheng at its center. In that instant, another thousand Sword Shadows broke from their orbits. A full six thousand Sword Shadows now circled Yu Changsheng, their tips pointed at the remaining four thousand.

In an instant, the tables had turned on the once-even stalemate.

"Go!"

With a calm expression, Yu Changsheng gave a mental command. The illusory Giant Sword behind him shot forward, streaking like a scar across the heavens. It carried the Light of Taichu, illuminating the world and dazzling all creation as the intent of Opening the Heavens surged forth, sweeping through time and space.

As this one sword shot forth, the six thousand defecting Sword Shadows seemed to have found their leader. Pulled into its wake, they circled the Giant Sword like stars around the moon, becoming mere adornments as they followed the Heaven-Opening Sword and charged toward the four thousand Sword Shadows that were poised to attack!

The Sword Shadows spiraled, forming a long dragon of Sword Qi powerful enough to shake the very cosmos!

Thus, with a significant numerical advantage, the six thousand Sword Shadows shattered the four thousand’s blockade with overwhelming force. As the two sides collided, space itself trembled and the starlight dimmed. An endless roar filled the air as the terrifying Sword Shadows raged about, crushing everything in the vicinity.

After smashing through the obstruction, the torrent of blades continued upward, charging unstoppably toward the highest point of the heavens, threatening to cleave the very stars and split chaos asunder.

And so, the dense swarm of Sword Shadows spiraled, with the Heaven-Opening Giant Sword at its core. The shriek of the swords shook the heavens, echoing in all directions.

Once unleashed, the Taichu Heaven Opening Sword would not stop until it had actually opened the heavens.

"What?"

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s astonishment quickly turned to alarm. His expression changed as he muttered in angry disbelief:

"Are you trying to tear this Trial Land to shreds, you brat?"

Though his words were a rebuke, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s tone held not a trace of blame, but rather a faint hint of admiration. As he spoke, he pointed toward the sky full of Sword Shadows.

"Freeze!"

The stars erupted with an even more brilliant radiance, which descended upon the Sword Shadows and transformed into a tremendous force. The entire swarm of blades halted in midair as if a pause button had been pressed, stopping dead in place, unable to advance.

All of the Sword Qi was sealed away and brought under control.

"Dispel!"

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit waved his sleeve, his white hair fluttering. He swiped his palm gently toward the Sword Shadows. At his gesture, the blades slowly dissipated, as if a pair of invisible, giant hands had wiped all traces of them away, leaving nothing to show they had ever existed.

Having done all this, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit clasped his hands behind his back and slowly floated down from the sky to land before Yu Changsheng. His gaze was fixed on the young man, filled with utter disbelief.

After a long moment, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit finally looked away, concealing his inner astonishment. He nodded at Yu Changsheng and said calmly, "You... are quite impressive. Congratulations. You have passed the first stage of the trial."

"Thank you, Senior!"

Upon hearing this, Yu Changsheng let out a long sigh of relief. He gave the Sui Xian Sword Spirit a humble fist-clasp salute, his voice full of respect and gratitude.

Yu Changsheng knew in his heart that at the critical moment, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit had lowered the difficulty and gone easy on him.

"It is no trouble. You need not thank me. You have earned this."
