Chapter 500: Chapter 357: Yu Changsheng’s Idea

"Follow me."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit smiled meaningfully but didn’t elaborate. After glancing at Yu Changsheng, he waved a hand. The space before them rippled like the surface of water and began to transform.

"This is..."

Yu Changsheng raised an eyebrow slightly. It was still the same starry skydome before him, but their position had changed. His perspective had shifted to a god’s-eye view, looking down from above.

Below, countless Sword Shadows flickered. Amidst them, the Purple Child’s figure struggled to resist. One sharp Sword Shadow after another pierced its body, like a thousand arrows through the heart, yet this only caused its form to turn slightly illusory, inflicting little actual damage.

The Purple Child, for its part, wore an expression of utter despair mixed with a hint of terror.

"This is the trial space for that Spirit Body you brought in. But looking at its Status, it won’t even be able to pass the first trial."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit glanced at the scene below, shaking his head and speaking calmly.

"However, its condition is quite special. It’s not a physical entity but a Spirit Body. Even if it can’t pass, it can hold on for a very long time. As long as I don’t deliberately intervene, it won’t be in any danger for the time being."

"Ah, then it..."

Yu Changsheng was stunned for a moment. He opened his mouth to speak but then hesitated.

’I remember this trial being merciless—either you pass, or you die. It’s only because I’m Cao Jinxian’s junior martial brother that the Sui Xian Sword Spirit would let me go even if I failed. But as for the Purple Child...’

At this thought, Yu Changsheng grew worried. Although he wasn’t particularly attached to the little creature, he did have some plans for it. He certainly didn’t want it to be trapped here.

So, Yu Changsheng took a deep breath. Just as he was about to say something, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit cut him off.

"Don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to it."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit seemed to see through Yu Changsheng’s worries and explained after a moment of thought.

"That’s good. Thank you, Senior."

Yu Changsheng breathed a silent sigh of relief and bowed respectfully to the Sui Xian Sword Spirit.

"What is there to thank me for? You have your own motives, don’t you?"

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit chuckled and raised an eyebrow at Yu Changsheng, his expression holding a faint, almost imperceptible hint of resignation.

"You’re a Beast Master. How could you not be tempted when faced with a Heaven and Earth Spirit Body like this? And since you are, just form a Contract with it. As it happens, my method involves having it form a Contract with you and then become the Sword Spirit of the Jade Sword, to be nourished by you day and night."

"This way, through the Spirit Beast Contract, you’ll be able to indirectly control this Jade Sword. You’ll perfectly fuse the paths of a Sword Cultivator and Beast Taming, and the boost to your combat power will be unimaginable."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit explained with a smile, a hint of expectation and a playful look in his eyes.

"This way, you can make this sword your fifth Spirit Beast. It would just be a rather special one—both a sword and a spirit. You would use the methods of Beast Taming to command the Sword Dao, applying your knowledge by analogy. That way, your years of hard training won’t be wasted. This truly is the most suitable method for you."

Having said his piece, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit fell silent. He simply stared at Yu Changsheng with a smile in his eyes, awaiting his answer.

Upon hearing this, Yu Changsheng couldn’t help but sink into contemplation. His brow furrowed slightly as he processed the information in the Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s words, and gradually, understanding dawned on him.

’The Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s idea was simple, yet novel. It wasn’t difficult to understand. Yu Changsheng just had a few reservations about its implementation, but they weren’t insurmountable issues.’

"What do you think?" the Sui Xian Sword Spirit asked.

"Let’s do as you suggest, Senior. Thank you for going to all this trouble."

Yu Changsheng took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. His brow smoothed out as he lowered his head and spoke.

"It’s just... the creature is still in the middle of its trial. It wouldn’t be right for me to just barge in and interrupt, would it?"

He hesitated for a moment, glancing down at the struggling Purple Child. His voice was tinged with uncertainty and guilt as he spoke.

"It has already failed. Without intervention, even if it doesn’t die here, it will be trapped for ages. Since this is an ancient ruin, it naturally holds both opportunities and grave dangers. Clearly, this opportunity was not destined for it."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit shook his head and spoke calmly, his expression impassive. In his eyes, this was perfectly normal.

"Besides, you’ve already Devoured all the Beast Souls from the second trial, transforming them into the Dao Seed for your Ten Thousand Spirits Technique’s advancement to a Saint-level Technique. Even if it managed to scrape through the first trial, the remaining ones cannot proceed."

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He paused, then looked at Yu Changsheng with a resigned, faint smile and waved his hand as he spoke.

"So, it either remains trapped in here until it perishes, or I can show it some leniency and let it go. But in that case, once it leaves this ruin, you won’t have my help. Even if you form a Contract with it, you’ll have no way of making it your Sword Spirit."

"So, you had better think this through. Are you going to let it go, or are you going to seize this opportunity to make it your Sword Spirit?"

The Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s tone was even. As his words faded, he looked deeply at Yu Changsheng.

"Er..." Yu Changsheng scratched his head, looking rather embarrassed. He gave a sheepish smile and met the Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s gaze. After a long moment, his eyes flickered with conflict. Finally, gritting his teeth lightly, he let out a slow breath of acceptance and said with a wry smile,

"Since it has come to this, let’s give it a try. If it really doesn’t agree, then please, Senior, just let it go. I’ll find another way to get a Sword Spirit."
