I Truly Am The Villian

Chapter 2180 - 2179: False Demon Race and the Great Secret of the North

This Old Sun has quite a knack for storytelling.

Not only are his stories concise, but he also picks the ones Xu Zimei wants to hear.

Ever since Xu Zimei left the Catastrophe Demon Domain back then,

the domain has come under the rule of the Holy Court, eventually dividing into the northern and southern regions.

The northern region is a forbidden zone, where it's said the Holy Court is conducting some experiments.

The southern region is left almost to its own devices.

The Holy Court doesn't pay much attention, instead, some smaller factions are beginning to rise.

In the present Catastrophe Demon Domain, all symbols of the Demon Race have long been erased.

Even the followers of the Demon Race are not tolerated.

Only the followers of the Holy Court are allowed to exist.

Upon hearing the story, Xu Zimei sighed.

The times have changed too quickly.

It seems I'm destined to encounter the Holy Court.

No matter what they are doing in the Catastrophe Demon Domain, Xu Zimei intends to take a look.

He just hopes the Holy Court doesn't disappoint him.

...…

"The story was well told," Xu Zimei casually tossed over a few hundred spirit stones.

"Thank you, young master, may you be blessed with fortune and be a true great figure in this world," Old Sun quickly thanked him.

These spirit stones today are worth a few months of storytelling for him.

He understood he had met a benefactor.

Before Xu Zimei left, he smiled and asked, "In the Catastrophe Demon Domain, is there truly no one left who worships the Demon Lord?"

"To my knowledge, there isn't. The glory of the Holy Court shines eternally on this world," Old Sun replied.

Xu Zimei nodded slightly.

Seeing Xu Zimei walk away, fading into the figure in the downpour,

Old Sun hastily gathered up the spirit stones, abandoning his plan to buy wine, and instead ran home through the raging rain.

Old Sun's home looked very shabby, just a thatched cottage in the city.

Apart from wine, he has never been interested in other material possessions.

Upon returning home, Old Sun tightly shut the doors, ensuring no one was around before lifting a floorboard.

Beneath the floorboard, there lay a terrifying statue of the Demon Race.

The statue was pitch black, with faint demonic qi emanating from it all over.

The statue had a three-head demonic body, appearing ferocious and menacing.

"Demon King, I met an esteemed guest today," Old Sun said, smiling at the statue.

"I'll buy some more blood food. I believe the day of your resurrection is drawing nearer."

The statue suddenly opened its eyes, filled with malevolence, and spoke calmly, "Go quickly, I feel I'm nearing a breakthrough."

Old Sun nodded with a smile.

He placed the statue in a central position, offering a sincere bow.

Then he carefully hid the statue once again.

This was a secret, his greatest secret.

He often said that there was no evidence of the Demon Race's existence in this world, nor were there any believers of the Demon King.

But in truth, he was the greatest of all the Demon Race's followers.

A real Demon King was hidden in his home.

After tidying everything up, Old Sun opened the door, ready to buy blood food.

Everyone knew of his love for wine, thinking he spent all his money on fine drink.

But in reality, offering to the Demon King was his biggest expenditure.

When he opened the door, a "crackle" could be heard.

The firmament above rolled with thunderclouds as the downpour intensified.

Inside Old Sun's heart, there was a jolt, as if struck by lightning.

He froze in place.

Outside, someone stood in front of his thatched cottage, taking shelter from the rain.

He recognized the person; it was the one who listened to his story earlier.

...…

"Do you revere the Demon Race?" Xu Zimei turned his head and smiled at him.

Old Sun stood stiff for a while before smiling, "I don't understand what the esteemed guest is saying."

"There's nothing wrong with worshiping the Demon Race," Xu Zimei smiled and said.

"But still, you can't worship such evil paths, tarnishing the reputation of the Demon Race."

"Evil… evil path?" Old Sun was startled, seemingly unable to comprehend.

He didn't grasp the meaning behind Xu Zimei's words as well.

However, in the next moment, Xu Zimei had already taken action.

With a wave of his hand, a powerful force landed directly inside the thatched cottage.

The place where the demon statue was hidden was instantly pierced through, along with the statue being destroyed.

After the statue was destroyed, the unholy presence within revealed its true form.

Evil energy spread out, revealing an old man covered in pustules.

The old man's face was gaunt, resembling a dried-up corpse.

The evil energy on him was explosively intense.

"Who dares provoke my Demon Race," the old man said coldly.

"I am the Nine Snake True Man of the Demon Race, who are you?"

"Are you one of the Demon Race?" Xu Zimei asked with interest.

"Genuine without a doubt," the Nine Snake True Man said proudly.

"Then do you know me?" Xu Zimei asked.

"And who might you be?" the Nine Snake True Man asked disdainfully.

"If you don't know me, what kind of Demon Race can you claim to be?" Xu Zimei sneered.

In the next moment, the demonic qi around him surged.

The power of the demonic qi soared into the sky, turning into a pillar that pierced the heavens.

At this moment, the overwhelming demonic mist stirred the clouds, completely engulfing the skyline above the city.

Witnessing this, not only was Old Sun dumbfounded, but even the Nine Snake True Man stood agape, unable to close his mouth for a long time.

"You… you…"

This encounter of a counterfeit with the real thing left him speechless.

"I am the Demon Lord, do you recognize me," Xu Zimei said calmly.

With a "snap".

The Nine Snake True Man moved swiftly, immediately dropping to his knees.

"Mercy, great lord, I am no Demon but merely a lowly snake among mortals."

The Nine Snake True Man hastily pleaded for mercy.

"Using the Demon Race name was a last resort!"

He too was stunned at that moment, hearing that the Demon Race no longer existed, yet here stood a Demon Lord.

Moreover, wasn't the Demon Lord supposed to have died after a failed Heaven Challenge?

The Nine Snake True Man couldn't fathom it, nor did he dare think further.

At this moment, the aura emanating from Xu Zimei was suffocating, suppressing him entirely.

"Demon… Demon Lord," Old Sun too dropped directly to his knees.

The Demon Lord he had worshiped all his life was right before him, causing his heart to ripple with excitement amid the shock.

"Tell me, how should I deal with you?" Xu Zimei asked.

"Great Lord, I truly do admire the Demon Race," the Nine Snake True Man promptly said.

"Earlier out of curiosity, I ventured to the north, which led to my soul being nearly shattered, leaving me in this plight, and I only deceived Old Sun as a last resort to recover myself."

"Moreover, I've never killed the innocent indiscriminately. Although I relied on blood food to recover, it's only from chickens, ducks, cattle, and sheep."

Listening to the Nine Snake True Man's lengthy plea,

Xu Zimei merely replied indifferently, "Whether you've killed the innocent indiscriminately is of no significance to me."

"I'm only asking, how should I deal with you?"

"Did you just say you have been to the north?"

"Yes, it was my trip to the north that led to my soul's decimation, and left me in this state," the Nine Snake True Man spoke swiftly, clinging on desperately.

"There's a big secret hidden in the north."
