【IF: If An Ruo Transmigrated into an Evil God】

An Ruo awoke from chaos and discovered that he was floating in the void of space. The sensation of weightlessness held him suspended, leaving his entire body stiff and even making him feel as though he might fall to his death.

€€€€I definitely haven't woken up yet.

An Ruo thought stiffly.

In his memories, he was a novelist. Last night, he'd finished his usual update and gone to bed, only to wake up here.

No, something seemed to have happened in between, but he couldn't remember it.

Perhaps he'd had a brief yet incredibly long dream...

Forgetting dreams was perfectly normal. Sometimes, a person would have several dreams in a single night, and by the time they started a new one, they could no longer remember what the previous dream had been about.

An Ruo seriously believed that was what had happened to him.

But inexplicably, he felt as though he had forgotten something very important. Something very important... a person?

That made him unable to stop trying to remember, yet his mind was completely empty. No matter how hard he tried, all he found was a vast blankness shrouded in fog.

Within the faint remnants of his memories was an image of himself sharing a single scarf with a black, long-haired "person."

But who was that "person"?

He somehow felt that they were someone extremely important, someone he absolutely couldn't forget.

Yet he couldn't remember.

An Ruo drifted blankly through the vacuum of space. It took him a long time to finally pull his attention back and examine his current situation.

He discovered that he had no physical body. All he had were some invisible, intangible... things resembling transparent tentacles.

They were extensions of his consciousness.

He seemed to have turned into a monster.

An Ruo fell silent for a moment.

When he'd been rushing to meet writing deadlines in the past, he had occasionally thought about how wonderful it would be to have lots of tentacles. But his current form seemed somewhat different from what he'd had in mind.

At the very least, he couldn't find a computer anywhere in the universe for him to type on.

Having all these tentacles but no way to use them was an incredibly powerless feeling.

...

On the other side of the universe, on Capital Star of the Zerg Federation.

Ulysses stood in the office of the Marshal's residence, looking at the report displayed on the light screen before him with a dark expression.

He had arrived in this world a week ago.

Over the course of that week, he had practically turned the Military Region Prison, Capital Star, the authors of every species throughout the universe, and even the areas surrounding the protagonists upside down.

But there was nothing.

He hadn't found a single trace of his god, his male.

This was a world extremely similar to the one he had originally come from. Ulysses even felt that the two worlds were completely identical, except that one crucial piece was missing.

His god had never descended into this world.

In the Federation's Military Region Prison, the Male Zerg who had committed those crimes was still serving his sentence.

Ulysses couldn't bring himself to face that Zerg.

Even though it was a face completely different from his god's, a completely different body, he was still afraid that he might be unable to stop himself from tearing him open in search of any trace of his god.

His rationality restrained him, preventing him from doing such a thing.

But that rationality was already hanging by a thread.

The Ulysses of this world was in terrible mental condition.

Without his god, of course his mental state would be terrible.

Even replacing him with the current Ulysses couldn't change anything. In fact, being unable to find his god was making him deteriorate even faster.

Helios was already in the Ninth Military Region. Ulysses knew that he had established contact with the heir of the Phoenix Bird Family and was secretly forming a resistance army.

But Ulysses had no interest in dealing with such trivial matters right now.

When he saw this intelligence report, the only thing he wondered was whether his god might appear if he dragged Helios over and beat him up.

After all, this was his protagonist, the most special protagonist from the original work.

His god would surely care about him, wouldn't he?

Just as Ulysses was considering whether to put this idea into action, a tremor ran through his Psychic Domain, followed by a resonance of perception.

His gaze turned toward the distance.

Far away, in the depths of the universe, his god had descended.

The sensation nearly drove him mad with joy.

Within his Psychic Domain was the planet his god had left behind. That ridiculous, peculiar candy planet was like a coordinate point—a two-way coordinate.

His god could use it to locate him, and he could use it to trace his god's location in reverse.

Ulysses no longer hesitated. He quickly finished making arrangements for the Federation's internal affairs and prepared to set out in search of his god.

When he dragged Cassian, whose mental condition looked equally terrible, over to handle the work, Ulysses hesitated for a moment before telling him that policy implementation could be temporarily slowed down. He also granted him four star-hours of leave so he could go home and get some sleep.

Morris was there to keep Capital Star safe, so he wasn't worried.

Although the absence of a certain virtual Male Zerg made Morris seem even colder and more unapproachable, that wasn't a major problem. He was still young. His Psychic Domain could hold out.

The other regions had their respective Military Region Generals holding the fort, so nothing serious should happen there either. Enemy nations such as the Tianjia Empire wouldn't be able to exploit the opening.

As for the internal resistance army...

At least for now, they weren't capable of accomplishing much.

Ulysses left Capital Star alone.

Not a single Zerg dared voice an objection.

In this world, where he had already held supreme power for decades, he stood at the absolute center of both military and political authority.

On StarNet, there were even those who secretly called him a "tyrant."

Of course, far more common were phrases like "the wise and mighty Marshal Ulysses," along with his "loyal military," his "loyal government"...

His loyal Federation.

From these things alone, Ulysses could already see a military government that, after concentrating all power in its hands, would inevitably collapse with a thunderous crash.

He didn't know whether the Ulysses of this world had foreseen that.

He probably had.

But he had no choice but to do it.

Even if he eventually fell, what he left behind would profoundly influence the Zerg race. Even if he changed only a little, that would be enough.

But the current Ulysses already had a more suitable choice.

There was no need to be so extreme.

He could change this world gently but firmly.

Before that, however, he needed to find his god.

...

An Ruo had already been wandering through the void for an unknown length of time.

He visited planet after planet. He had seen boiling stars and magnificent nebulae, traveling among them like someone who had accidentally wandered into a vast and boundless dream.

One advantage of having no physical body and existing only as consciousness was that his speed transcended both time and space. With a single thought, he could travel to any planet he wanted.

Even so, the universe was still far too vast for him.

And far too boring.

He hadn't encountered a single intelligent lifeform. Even when he found planets where life existed, the creatures there were things he couldn't understand or communicate with.

So boring.

An Ruo flopped limply onto an asteroid and simulated a sigh.

He'd never imagined that he might die of boredom.

There was no one here to read his novels and no one to talk to him. Although he had social anxiety, he had an incredibly strong desire for self-expression. He needed to use the internet as a medium to transmit the things in his mind outward and let lots of people see his work.

Otherwise, he would wither away.

Right now, An Ruo really felt like he was about to wither away.

Suddenly, An Ruo sensed something.

Something was coming toward him.

A hypervelocity runaway star?

No, that didn't seem right.

Although the thing possessed an enormous amount of energy comparable to a gigantic star, it wasn't a celestial body.

There was also a strange attraction connecting the two of them.

Drawn by that attraction, An Ruo moved toward it.

Before long, he saw a...

Spaceship?

An Ruo was certain that it was a spaceship, and moreover, it was a spaceship that hadn't exceeded the limits of his comprehension.

The appearance of such a technological creation in space even made it seem somewhat "human," although its design was unlike anything An Ruo knew and carried an unmistakably alien quality.

Curious, An Ruo slipped inside the spaceship.

That wasn't difficult, considering he had no physical body.

Then he saw the source that had been attracting him.

It was a "person."

A "man."

A long-haired "man" dressed in a black uniform.

He was extremely handsome. Of course, that wasn't the important part.

The important part was that after wandering through such boundless deep space, seeing something that looked like a human—or at least a humanoid creature—was genuinely moving.

If An Ruo still had a physical body, he would probably have been moved to tears by now.

Soon, An Ruo noticed that there was something strange about this "person."

His mind was extraordinarily active, his thoughts and emotions chaotic and tangled together, yet his face remained completely expressionless. He merely stared fixedly into the empty space where An Ruo was.

Question marks practically sprouted above An Ruo's head.

Could he see him?

That shouldn't be possible.

Then why did An Ruo feel like the other could "see" him?

The black-haired creature stared at him. His lips moved, slowly uttering a form of address.

"God..."

It wasn't a language An Ruo knew, yet for some inexplicable reason, it felt incredibly familiar, as though he'd heard it countless times before.

And he could actually understand it?

God?

Was he talking about him?

An Ruo looked at himself.

Transparent, invisible psychic tentacles that existed only within the realm of consciousness, surging psychic threads, and countless points of psychic light flickering among them.

Only belatedly did An Ruo realize that he really did have considerable potential to be an evil god.

He looked exactly like some indescribable cosmic evil god.

Still, An Ruo thought he was probably one of the more aesthetically pleasing kinds. Surely he wouldn't make anyone lose their sanity just by looking at him?

At least the person in front of him seemed perfectly normal.

He was just...

A little excessively emotional.

An Ruo saw his reddened eyes.

The other was nowhere near as calm as he appeared.

He reached out a hand toward him.

An Ruo paused, then tentatively placed the tip of one psychic tentacle against his palm.

The psychic tremor that instantly surged through him left Ulysses frozen in place.

He was certain.

He had found his god.

His god had responded to him.

The realization made Ulysses's eyes redden. Even the tough military Female Zerg nearly shed tears.

He restrained his overflowing emotions and asked about his god's current condition.

"You don't have a physical body?" Ulysses asked.

An Ruo didn't understand why the other's tone made it sound as though he knew him extremely well and cared deeply about him.

Maybe fanatical believers who spent their lives searching for traces of an evil god were simply like this?

【No.】

He transmitted a fragment of consciousness in reply, carefully restraining the intensity of the psychic transmission out of fear that he might hurt him or make his sanity drop.

Very evil-god-like.

Still, An Ruo didn't think the other was actually that fragile.

This was an incredibly powerful creature, definitely not a human.

Or perhaps humans in this era had already evolved into something beyond his understanding?

The creature before him continued communicating with him, asking whether he needed a body capable of temporarily containing him and even saying that he could offer his own body to him.

The believer was being far too cooperative.

The newly appointed evil god, on the other hand, had no idea what to do.

He didn't want to possess someone else's body.

He just wanted to talk to him.

He was so bored.

He had drifted through the universe for so long that he'd lost all sense of time. Only after seeing this person did he finally feel his heart settle.

An Ruo quietly settled onto the creature's shoulder.

If he voiced such pathetic thoughts aloud, a believer who had come seeking great power would definitely start questioning whether he was really an evil god.

So An Ruo said nothing. He deliberately acted profound, maintaining the dignity and mystery befitting an evil god.

Then...

He became a little sleepy.

Apparently, even when only his consciousness remained, he could still get sleepy and tired and want to sleep.

Or perhaps this person simply felt far too comfortable to be around, allowing An Ruo's heart to settle completely, as though he'd finally found where he belonged.

Leaning against this powerful creature who made him feel inexplicably comfortable, An Ruo fell into a deep sleep.

When he woke again, he discovered that he was still resting on the other's shoulder, while the other was processing some work documents on a light screen.

An Ruo hadn't intended to snoop, but his position made it extremely easy to see the contents of the screen...

Actually, he would have been able to see them from anywhere. His psychic threads spread across an enormous area, which essentially meant that his eyes were everywhere.

The writing on the screen still seemed both unfamiliar and strangely familiar, yet he could understand it effortlessly.

It said: military Female Zerg, Ninth Military Region, resistance army...

An Ruo instantly jolted awake.

Had he just seen some familiar terms?

Was he still half asleep?

Then he saw this powerful, long black-haired creature raise his hand and sign a name at the bottom of the document.

€€€€Ulysses.

This time, An Ruo genuinely experienced a psychic earthquake.

He could forget anything, but there was no way he could forget that name.

This was the main antagonist from his first novel, someone who had left an extremely deep impression on him.

Even though many years had passed, An Ruo still clearly remembered his name, appearance, and experiences.

Long black hair, silver eyes.

That's right.

It perfectly matched the appearance of the person he was currently perched on.

But An Ruo didn't remember Ulysses worshiping an evil god???
