I'm Already a God, and You're Only Now Telling Me There Are Monsters?
Chapter 196 - 132: Your King Has Returned
Chapter 196: Chapter 132: Your King Has Returned
Xia Shuran had never ridden on anything so fast before; she was utterly terrified.
Her hands instinctively wrapped tightly around Gu Qing’s waist.
She cried out, pleading:
"Gu Qing, don’t go so fast! Slow down, slow down, slow down!"
"..."
Gu Qing didn’t want to slow down.
He was enjoying the thrill of racing freely on the deserted highway.
So he said to Xia Shuran,
"Just hang in there. We’ll be there soon."
"..."
Xia Shuran didn’t want to hang in there.
A speed of over two hundred kilometers per hour was terrifying; it felt like her soul was about to be flung from her body.
But she cared more about Gu Qing’s enjoyment than her own fear.
In the end, she could only force herself to bear it.
She suppressed the deep-seated fear of the high speed.
She held onto Gu Qing’s waist for dear life.
Her eyes were shut tight.
She pressed herself motionlessly against Gu Qing’s back.
Gu Qing wasn’t the type of player who was all talk.
He was a man of his word; he hadn’t lied to her.
He’d said it would be over soon, and he wasn’t kidding.
In less than twenty minutes, he had raced from the distant Night Court Base in the suburbs all the way to the gates of Hai City University, located on the edge of the downtown area.
By now, he had left both Wu Jiahao, who was running as a centaur, and Zhao Chuan in his sedan, far in his dust.
"So, was that a fun ride?"
Gu Qing pulled over to the side of the road and parked the bike. He turned to look at Xia Shuran behind him and asked with a smile.
Xia Shuran’s hair was a mess, and her heart was still pounding.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and gave him a slightly reproachful look.
"It was... intense. I was afraid I was going to fall off the whole time."
"Looks like you’re not confident enough in your Physical Strength. You’ll have to train more."
Gu Qing reached out to tidy her hair, a roguish smile playing on his lips—the kind one has when teasing a girl for fun.
’He’s too much!’
’Deliberately going so fast just to mess with a girl!’
’He’s so mean!’
Xia Shuran grumbled to herself.
But for some reason, instead of disliking him for it, she found herself liking Gu Qing even more.
It seemed she actually enjoyed being teased by him.
...
For the next while,
the two found a random place to sit.
They played on their phones,
making idle conversation.
They waited patiently for Zhao Chuan and the others to arrive.
About twenty minutes later,
the black sedan Zhao Chuan was driving finally arrived at the gate of Hai City University.
As soon as the car parked, Wu Jiahao got out of the back seat.
Seeing the show-off climb out of the car, Gu Qing couldn’t help but ask, confused, "How’d you end up in the car?"
Wu Jiahao explained, "The intensity was too high. I was sprinting at full power almost the whole way. I only made it halfway before my legs cramped up and I was forced to get a ride."
Soon,
Zhao Chuan and Liu Yue also got out of the car.
Zhao Chuan, their instructor, wasted no time on small talk. As soon as he was out of the car, he addressed the four of them:
"Until the mission is complete, we’ll be staying here at Hai City University."
"Let’s go. I’ll take you to your dorms."
"After you’ve seen the dorms, I’ll take you to meet the two Extraordinary Contactors so you can get an update on the situation."
With that, Zhao Chuan led the four of them into Hai City University, heading for the dorms.
The university administration had been notified in advance and had arranged a deluxe single-person dorm room for each of them.
As they approached the campus gate, a university official was already there to greet them and lead the way.
A few moments later,
the group arrived at their destination,
a luxurious dormitory building.
Gu Qing looked at the dormitory building before him and couldn’t help but feel a sense of irony.
This was the dormitory Hai City University had built specifically for international students; the interiors were incredibly luxurious.
Back when he’d first started at the university, he had often complained about how the international students lived better than the domestic ones, joking that the local students were treated worse than dogs.
He never expected that he’d end up living here *after* taking a leave of absence.
’I guess it’s true that the flowers at home are never as fragrant as the ones in the wild. All the best things are saved for the outsiders to enjoy.’
’And now that I’m one of those "wild flowers" from off-campus, I finally get to enjoy these on-campus perks.’
...
