I'm Already a God, and You're Only Now Telling Me There Are Monsters?
Chapter 204 - 136: I Am a God
Chapter 204: Chapter 136: I Am a God
Speaking of which.
’Shouldn’t Silly Yao be in class right now?’
’How is she still chattering away in the group chat?’
’Did she sneak her phone into school?’
Puzzled, Gu Qing immediately tagged his sister in the group chat: "Silly Yao, shouldn’t you be in class at this hour? How are you on your phone?"
"You stupid Hajiqing," Gu Yao replied. "Our homeroom teacher gave us our phones, of course. She said during study hall, we should ask an AI if we have questions instead of lining up to ask her. That’s too inefficient."
"Not as stupid as you," Gu Qing shot back.
"You’re the stupidest! The stupidest! The stupidest!"
"Alright, stop making a scene in the group chat. Get back to studying."
"I know, I know, I know!"
While Gu Qing was bickering with his sister as usual,
Xia Shuran, sitting beside him, couldn’t stop her eyes from stealing glances at his phone screen.
Peeking at someone else’s phone screen was, of course, very impolite.
But she really couldn’t help herself.
She desperately wanted to know everything about Gu Qing—his interests, his hobbies, who he usually chatted with, and what kind of girls he liked.
’Silly Yao?’
’Hajiqing?’
’What strange nicknames...’
Xia Shuran found the nicknames Gu Qing and his sister used for each other quite peculiar.
In her experience, siblings were supposed to call each other "Big Brother" and "Little Sister."
But Gu Qing and his sister were unconventional. Their nicknames for each other were so bizarre they were almost funny.
"Hey,"
Gu Qing noticed Xia Shuran peeking and turned to her with a smile. "You know, you don’t have to be so sneaky about it. You can just lean over and look openly. I don’t mind."
Caught red-handed by Gu Qing,
a wave of guilt washed over Xia Shuran. She quickly averted her gaze, turning her head to avoid his eyes.
She steadied herself and explained,
"Gu Qing, I didn’t mean to peek. I was just... I was just a tiny bit curious and couldn’t help but glance over..."
"That’s perfectly normal. I do it all the time at home. I’m always peeking at my sister’s phone screen,"
Gu Qing said with a laugh.
Xia Shuran was surprised. She clearly hadn’t expected Gu Qing to do something like that.
But on second thought, it seemed normal.
After all, he and his sister called each other "Silly Yao" and "Hajiqing."
Given how those two got along, it wouldn’t be surprising if they did more than just peek at each other’s phones. They probably even playfully threw smelly socks in each other’s faces.
’Yep, this is a sign of a good sibling relationship.’
As she was thinking,
Xia Shuran propped her chin on her hand, turning her pretty face toward Gu Qing. Her expression was full of envy as she said,
"Gu Qing, you and your sister have such a great relationship."
"You’re both grown up, but you can still bicker so freely."
"I’ve seen online that many siblings don’t communicate much after they grow up. Their relationship becomes so cold, they’re like strangers who don’t know each other."
As she spoke,
the envy in Xia Shuran’s eyes deepened.
"I wish I had a sister I was that close with. It’d be like having a best friend living under the same roof. You’d never run out of things to talk about. Being an only child can be really lonely sometimes."
"You’re envious of my relationship with my sister, so shouldn’t you be wishing for a brother?"
Gu Qing asked with a smile.
The moment she heard the word "brother," Xia Shuran’s whole demeanor changed.
’What does he mean by that?’
’He’s not going to offer to be my brother, is he?’
’Please, no.’
’I don’t want to be his little sister.’
’I just want to be his girlfriend!’
Her thoughts spiraled until she worked herself into a panic and quickly said,
"A brother would be great too, of course."
"But, how should I put this... I’d rather have a sister I can tell anything to."
"Yeah, I just want to be a big sister."
"..."
Gu Qing laughed. "That’s easy. I’ll just pack my sister up and send her to your place. Then you’ll have a sister you can tell anything to and bicker with every day."
Xia Shuran was amused, her eyes curving into crescents as she smiled. "In that case, I’ll go to your house tonight and carry your sister back to my place myself."
Gu Qing: "Permission granted."
Xia Shuran said tentatively, "But seriously, Gu Qing, I really do want to meet your sister. When you have some free time, do you think you could take me home to meet her?"
Did she really just want to meet Gu Qing’s sister?
No, she wanted to seize the opportunity, to be the first girl to make an impression on his family and solidify her status as the future daughter-in-law.
That’s right, future daughter-in-law.
The "future" part was still conditional, of course, since she wasn’t even Gu Qing’s girlfriend yet.
She was just a female friend in that ambiguous, "more-than-friends" stage.
"Sure."
Gu Qing agreed without a second thought. "We’ll see when Night Court gives us a break. As soon as we get time off, I’ll take you home to meet my silly sister."
"Really?"
Xia Shuran thought she must have misheard.
’I was just testing the waters, and he actually agreed right away?’
’Does he bring girls home this casually?’
"Really."
Gu Qing nodded with a serious expression.
Getting this definitive answer, Xia Shuran almost cheered out loud.
"That’s wonderful!"
"When the time comes, I’ll make a bunch of delicious food to bring to your house so your parents and sister can taste my cooking!"
"Besides food, I’ll have to prepare some small gifts, too!"
"It’s my first time visiting your home, after all. I have to make a good impression on your family!"
"I’m so excited!"
The more Xia Shuran thought about it, the more excited she became. She couldn’t wait to meet his family.
Gu Qing chuckled. "You’re taking this a little too seriously. Really, just bringing yourself is enough. You don’t need to bring any gifts."
