Chapter 67: Chapter 67: The Boss Reborn

Led by a staff member.

The group walked without stopping and soon entered the physical assessment center.

The whole facility looked a lot like a large shopping mall.

The center of the building had a massive hollowed-out design, with the ground floor open all the way to the ceiling, a gap of more than twenty meters.

Rooms and corridors lined the periphery.

Gu Qing sized up his surroundings and found a wide variety of things here.

At a glance.

There were punching power testers.

There was a 400-meter running track.

There were knives, guns, staffs, clubs, and grenades.

There was raw snake venom, concentrated sulfuric acid, and highly radioactive heavy metals.

And there was a glass chamber, its purpose unknown.

In short, it was a huge jumble of miscellaneous items.

’Holy crap, are they trying to pick the next Captain of the Ugly Country in this assessment center?’

Gu Qing couldn’t help but roast them internally as he looked at the pile of firearms and the colorful, highly toxic solutions not far away.

Just as he was grumbling...

Suddenly.

In his peripheral vision, he glimpsed several people with incredibly powerful auras standing on a second-floor corridor.

They were five men in black trench coats and one man in casual clothes, wearing sunglasses, with his hair slicked back.

Among the five men in black, Gu Qing saw Lin Tianyang.

But his attention wasn’t on Lin Tianyang.

Right now, his gaze was completely captivated by the casually dressed man next to Lin Tianyang.

He saw an extremely conspicuous tag above the man’s head:

--[Traitor]

’Wait, what?’

’What’s going on?’

’Is that slicked-back-hair guy a Traitor to the Night Court?’

Gu Qing was stunned on the spot.

’I can’t believe I ran into a Traitor to the organization on my very first day at the Night Court.’

His brows furrowed at the thought.

The man with the slicked-back hair wasn’t wearing the standard-issue black trench coat exclusive to the Night Court’s rank-and-file.

Instead, he wore a dark brown genuine leather jacket.

He wore a pair of cool sunglasses.

He gave off the impression of immense strength.

’Judging by his style, he’s most likely a leader within the Night Court.’

’A leader in an Extraordinary Organization is actually a Traitor?’

’This is going to be tricky.’

’After the tests are over, I need to ask Brother Yang about that slicked-back-hair guy.’

’Find out what his exact identity is.’

’Yeah, just a simple inquiry. I won’t get involved in anything else.’

’After all, I just got to the Night Court. I’m unfamiliar with everything here and don’t know the interpersonal relationships. I can’t just go meddling in things.’

’I don’t want to get burned. It’d suck to "commit suicide" with eight gunshots to the back on my first day.’

Gu Qing thought to himself. He was a very cautious person.

As his thoughts drifted.

An idea suddenly occurred to Gu Qing.

’Say, if I were to collude with this slicked-back-hair guy and become a Traitor to the Night Court with him, what kind of Attribute could I farm from his [Traitor] tag?’

’Backstabbing techniques? Infiltration skills?’

The very thought was absurd.

While Gu Qing was lost in these random thoughts.

The staff member said to the crowd:

"Next, you will need to test five of your own Attributes with all your strength."

"First, strength. You will use the punching power tester."

"Second, speed. You will use the 400-meter track."

"Third, jumping ability. Go to the jumping area and do a standing high jump. There’s an infrared sensor there that will automatically measure your jump height."

"Fourth, reflexes. See that glass chamber over there? Once you go in, it will continuously shoot out small balls. The more you dodge, the higher your score."

"Fifth, damage resistance. There are knives, various firearms, and all kinds of venoms over there. Every type of weapon is available. You can use them as you see fit. Cameras will record your specific damage resistance capabilities."

The staff member paused, then continued, "That’s all I have to say. Any questions?"

"No."

The Extraordinary Beings’ responses came in a disorderly chorus.

The staff member nodded and said, "Since there are no problems, let’s not waste any more time. We’ll start the tests right now."

"Wu Jiahao, you’re up first."

"The rest of you, line up for testing in the same order as in the Extraordinary Testing Room."

After speaking, the staff member looked at Wu Jiahao, indicating that he could begin.

Wu Jiahao walked over and stopped in front of the punching power tester.

He didn’t rush to throw a punch.

Instead, he turned to look back at the crowd.

He asked with a half-smile:

"Brothers, how much force do you think I can get with this punch?"

Hearing his question, many people couldn’t help but curse him in their minds.

’Show-off motherfucker!’

’If you’re gonna test, just test!’

’Why are you even asking?’

’We get it, you’re an Extraordinary Awakened!’

’We know you’re strong!’

’What kind of person is this?!’

The crowd only dared to complain internally; they didn’t dare say it out loud.

Because no one wanted to offend a high and mighty Extraordinary Awaked.

They even had to go against their conscience to suck up to him:

"Brother Hao looks so fierce. One punch will definitely exceed a thousand kilograms of force."

"You’re underestimating him. I bet Brother Hao can hit at least two thousand kilograms."

"I’m guessing three thousand kilograms!"

The crowd’s claims grew more and more exaggerated as they relentlessly hyped up Wu Jiahao’s strength.

’Lesson one in the workplace: learn to please the powerful and latch onto their coattails. Your career will be smooth sailing from then on.’

’It’s all for a living. Nothing shameful about it.’

Listening to the crowd’s flattery, Wu Jiahao felt immensely satisfied.

He desperately wanted to laugh maniacally, but he had to hold it in.

Because laughing would ruin his cool factor.

’Experts, after all, are always stern and unsmiling.’

"Wu Jiahao, hurry up and test. Stop dawdling and wasting everyone’s time."

The staff member couldn’t stand it anymore and urged him on.

Hearing this, Wu Jiahao stopped dawdling. He quickly clenched his fist and raised his right arm.

’The buildup is complete!’

’It’s time to show my real skills!’

’Ant gene, activate!’

Wu Jiahao’s eyes narrowed.

The next second.

The muscles on his body bulged slightly, and a faint sound came from between his tendons and bones. A savage power far exceeding that of a normal person erupted from his limbs, and his aura instantly became sharp and domineering.

Soon, his right arm shot out. His fist, wrapped in the sound of breaking wind, smashed into the punching power tester’s pad like a cannonball.

"BANG!"

A dull, massive thud exploded through the air.

The punching power tester shook violently, and the mounting bolts below nearly snapped.

The numbers on its screen jumped frantically.

[1000kg...]

[2200kg...]

[3331kg...]

The numbers kept climbing, finally stopping abruptly at [4396kg]!

"Hiss!"

The crowd couldn’t help but suck in a cold breath.

’Holy shit!’

’That’s some insane power!’

’So Brother Jiahao really had the capital to show off!’

’No! That’s not Jiahao! That’s a goddamn Juggernaut!’

At this moment, everyone was completely won over by Wu Jiahao’s valiant performance. They felt that it was understandable for such a person to enjoy showing off; after all, he had real strength.

Unlike the stunned crowd, Gu Qing’s face was perfectly calm, his expression unwavering.

’That’s it?’

’He can’t even hit 10,000 kilograms?’

’These so-called Extraordinary Awakened don’t seem like all that, huh?’

’No. I can’t look down on anyone.’

’Maybe he just Awakened recently and hasn’t developed his full potential yet.’

’Once he’s fully developed, maybe he’ll be able to destroy a star with one punch.’

’Yes, I must take every opponent seriously.’

Gu Qing suppressed his budding arrogance, lest he develop the bad habit of underestimating his opponents and find himself capsized in a ditch one day.
