Chapter 390: Chapter 211: Ten Years Ago

Zheng Xiu struggled to pull his legs out of the mire. He knew that the more people died, the more "flowers" would bloom, and the faster the Darkness would spread. Just then, a bald head flew through the sky, flailing wildly.

Fan Yao’s laughter died on his lips. He stared intently at the bald man, and in the next second, black markings surfaced from within his body, dyeing him black.

"This damn cage can’t hold me!"

HAH!

Fan Yao bellowed, and as if his voice carried some kind of Magic Power, Zheng Xiu’s Bird Cage twisted and ripped open, clearing a path.

Zheng Xiu gritted his teeth, a sharp pain lancing through his brow as he tried and failed to summon his Deceitful Object. Seeing Zheng Xiu make a move, Fan Yao turned back again and gave him a slight smile. "Sink! Sink! Sink!"

With every word Fan Yao spoke, his voice grew hoarser, until his mouth was filled with blood by the end.

This was the most powerful "Rumors" technique, one he had exchanged for fifty years of Restriction! Having not used a Miracle Technique for fifty years, once he unleashed "Rumors," no one could break it, and no one could escape it!

Each of the Monk’s personalities possessed a Miracle Technique from a different Path. The Heart Demon named Fan Yao walked the Path of the Thousand Gate General and cultivated "Rumors"!

Rumors, once believed, become reality!

Zheng Xiu’s feet felt as if they were nailed into the mire, and outside the Bird Cage, the red flowers surged toward him, blanketing everything.

"Hooo..."

Zheng Xiu’s expression was blank. He swung his blade and severed both his legs. CHSSSH! A massive amount of blood gushed from his knees. Zheng Xiu no longer had a shortage of blood.

Immediately after, he drew a wing with a backhand stroke and stuck it on his back.

Flapping the wing, Zheng Xiu shot forward like a bolt of lightning and grabbed Fan Yao’s leg. As Fan Yao stared in utter terror, Zheng Xiu grinned. "You go down."

With that, Zheng Xiu forcefully threw Fan Yao into the Darkness.

In the blink of an eye, the bloodthirsty red flowers swallowed Fan Yao, who didn’t even have time to let out a scream.

Not far away, Cheng Xiao was entangled by the red flowers. He silently sheathed his blade and stood up straight. As if he already knew his fate, he quietly allowed the red flowers to drag him into the Darkness.

"Monk!"

Zheng Xiu flew high in the sky, blood spraying from his severed legs like jets. His face grew paler and paler. After feeding Fan Yao to the flowers, Zheng Xiu caught the Monk in mid-air. When the Monk turned around, his face was streaked with tears as he stared blankly at Zheng Xiu. "Bro-Bro-Brother Zheng?"

The moment Fan Yao died, the Monk woke up.

"Go!"

Zheng Xiu had just started to fly away when a tremendous force held him back. He looked down and saw that the red flowers had, at some unknown point, completely surrounded the entire world. Inky light and shadows filled his vision. Like blood-sucking vine monsters, the red flowers had tightly wrapped around his two severed legs and were rapidly climbing up his body.

Supporting the Monk with one hand, Zheng Xiu rapidly swung his blade to cut the flowers, but the more he slashed, the more they grew.

"You go first."

Zheng Xiu gritted his teeth. His face was now ashen, his lips bloodless—a truly frightening sight. He smiled at the Monk. "Outside, you carried me up the mountain on your back after your legs were broken. Today, it’s my turn."

His blood was almost gone. There was just barely enough left to create a pair of wings for the Monk. Pulled by the wings, the Monk struggled as he flew off into the distance.

WHOOSH!

Zheng Xiu’s vision blurred. The pull of the flowers wasn’t a physical movement through space that the naked eye could see. In an instant, before he could even register what was happening, he was dragged into the Darkness.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Zheng Xiu’s head as countless memory fragments flooded his mind. In the scenes from these memories, a woman with a serene face, holding a Longbow, looked back at him. She was a stranger to Zheng Xiu. She drew her bow and fired a volley of arrows that filled the sky, eradicating the red flowers and piercing through the Darkness.

"This is..."

Zheng Xiu’s pupils trembled. He clutched his head. These unfamiliar memories belonged to Gongsun Mo. The scene in the memory was completely different from the present. The woman in the memory did not look like Feng Bei. She was the real Xie Luohe, and this memory fragment showed what had truly happened back then.

’Then right now...’

SMACK.

A fair hand suddenly reached in, and the dense, greedy red flowers were instantly shattered by its slap.

After tearing open the Darkness, that terrifyingly powerful hand gripped Zheng Xiu’s tightly and violently dragged him out of the mire.

The moment their hands clasped, Zheng Xiu looked at the person before him and was suddenly reminded of the scene many years ago in Baili Village, when he had pulled the young, helpless Little Feng Bei out of the Darkness.

Only now, their roles and positions were completely different from that time in Baili Village.

"I don’t owe you anymore."

The woman smiled faintly.

For a moment, Zheng Xiu was stunned, countless questions surfacing in his mind.

But the woman looked into Zheng Xiu’s eyes as if she could read his mind.

She knew what Zheng Xiu wanted to ask right here, right now.

In fact, she wanted to tell him, too. Otherwise, she would have regrets.

Feng Bei smiled faintly.

’Hee hee hee, I’ve been Feng Bei since ten years ago.’

’I pretended to be Xie Luohe for ten years.’

’I can’t even tell the difference anymore.’

’But right now, if I don’t change back to being Feng Bei, I can’t save my husband, can I?’

"Ten years ago."

Smiling, Feng Bei dragged Zheng Xiu out of the Darkness and, with a surge of strength, threw him miles away. The next second, having taken Zheng Xiu’s place, Feng Bei allowed herself to be swallowed by the flowers from the Darkness.

Feng Bei closed her eyes, completely content.
