Chapter 577: Chapter 280: Daughter of the Wolf King

RRRIP!

The chefs grinned ferociously as they all ripped off their shirts and tore away their aprons.

In an instant, the dozen or so chefs—men who had spent years in the back kitchen of Fragrant Pavilion, immersed in the smoke and fire of the mortal world—transformed. They became like killing machines, brandishing their weapons. Beads of sweat condensed on their rock-hard muscles, glistening with a faint bronze sheen.

Some wielded stools, some gripped spatulas. One snapped a fire poker in two with a CRACK, ready to strike with dual batons. Another swung a rolling pin straight for the Barbarian’s face. What should have been a simple gang beating was instantly turned into a spectacle worthy of a desperate battle for a spot on the Weapon Manual’s rankings by this group of brawny chefs.

THUMP THUMP THUMP!

After providing the chefs with a "home field" advantage, Zizi didn’t intervene further. Instead, she fetched a dish of oil-fried peanuts from behind the counter, placed it before the Red King, and then moved behind him to obediently massage Zheng Xiu’s shoulders. The pressure was just right—not too light, not too heavy.

"Master~" Zizi cooed softly. Her red lips were plump and moist, her face flushed, and her eyes seemed to brim with water. She bit her lower lip gently and asked, "You see, our Miracle Technique has improved so much. Why don’t we... go back and practice some more?"

"Already asking for a reward?"

Zheng Xiu rolled his eyes, munching on peanuts as he watched the show. Seeing a dozen Mighty Men ganging up on the Barbarian was such a satisfying sight that much of the inexplicable anger that had risen in his heart began to dissipate.

"Well..." Zizi knew her master always said one thing but meant another, so she didn’t press her luck. Instead, she changed the subject. "Master, look, Sister Feng Bei has been all alone for so long, without any family. When you two get married next August, you can’t just let her get married all by herself."

’She’s already calling her "sister."’

Zheng Xiu thought for a moment and nodded. "That makes sense."

Zizi’s eyes lit up. "Then... the dowry maids..."

Zheng Xiu heard this and understood immediately. He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. So that was her plan all along.

Just as master and servant were about to delve deeper into the question of whether ’four dowry maids might be a bit excessive,’ a deafening roar echoed through the room. A strange palpitation made them both catch their breath. They instinctively looked toward the source of the roar and saw a thick, bloody light burst forth, scattering several chefs. The blood-red light swirled like a mist, coalescing into the shape of a wolf’s head and draping itself over the Barbarian like a suit of Armor.

Several chefs coughed up mouthfuls of blood and were sent flying backward.

The Barbarian’s eyes were bloodshot with rage, his killing intent chilling to the bone.

Zizi pursed her lips, took out her miniature zither again, and plucked it a few times. TINKLE TINKLE. The Barbarian, who had just unleashed his astonishing Miracle Technique, took a single step only to meet his Waterloo once more, slipping and sliding into the opposite wall.

Zheng Xiu shouted in their direction, "Don’t worry, it’s a workplace injury! Everyone gets ten times their wages today!"

Instantly, the remaining chefs’ eyes glinted with a cold light. One of them even drew a pig-slaughtering knife.

Chef He, who had been watching coldly from the sidelines, finally made his move. The mention of ten times the wages was incredibly motivating. He lashed out with a kick, and the Barbarian’s chest caved in. Blood sprayed from his mouth as he howled in agony. Chef He only grew more enthusiastic with each kick, shouting out the names of his moves as he attacked:

"A Barbarian, are you! Take this! Shin Meat!"

"Barking like a dog, are you! Pig Cheek!"

"Wolf head, huh! Rear Loin!"

"Brisket!"

"Tenderloin!"

"Neck!"

Amidst a dazzling, almost suffocating flurry of kicks, the Barbarian’s cries grew weaker and weaker.

Finally, Chef He leaped high into the air and stomped down with his foot.

A terrifying wave of heat sent the tables and chairs in the restaurant flying.

’A heat wave?’

Zheng Xiu’s eyes narrowed. A smell of roasted meat wafted from the Barbarian in the corner. Somehow, Chef He’s kicks had actually managed to cook him to the right degree. It was clear his Path was related to ’fire’. Truly, the number one chef of the Zheng Clan.

"Grand Stew Pot!"

WHOOSH~

With that ’mixed stew’ of a beating delivered, Chef He felt thoroughly invigorated. He picked up his apron, put it back on, and looked at the mangled form of the Barbarian in the corner with a hint of regret. He sighed, "It’s been too long since I’ve had to get my hands dirty. I’m a bit rusty."

Qing Shisan, who had been smoking quietly on the sidelines without getting involved, silently stubbed out his cigarette. He praised, "Old He, your leg techniques are as majestic as ever."

Chef He grinned at the praise, scratching his head with a good-natured laugh. "Not at all, not at all! I’m old! Past my prime. Just a regular old Chef!"

The trouble-making Barbarian had been pretty much taken care of; even if he survived, he’d be a cripple. Qing Shisan silently walked over and asked in a low voice, "Master, should I...?"

Zheng Xiu thought for a moment, then silently shook his head.

Looking rather regretful, Qing Shisan slid his Sleeve Sword back into his sleeve.

’He had wanted to snatch a kill and fleece some experience points.’

But Qing Shisan also knew in his heart that while beating someone to within an inch of their life was one thing, actually killing them was another. Now that Zheng Xiu was a Prince, he could act arrogant and domineering, but not entirely without restraint.

"So, what should we do with this half-dead Barbarian?"

Zheng Xiu frowned, puzzled. "Barbarian? How do you know he’s a Barbarian?"

Qing Shisan’s eyes widened. He was speechless.

Zheng Xiu narrowed his eyes. "Did he say so? He didn’t. Who understood him? Did you?"

Qing Shisan shook his head.

Zheng Xiu then asked Zizi, "Did you understand what he said?"

Zizi suppressed a laugh and shook her head vigorously, playing along perfectly.

"There you have it. Go report this to the authorities. Say some babbling madman was wrecking my, the Prince’s, property. I, the Prince, just happened to be passing by. The Disaster Prevention Bureau’s Dawn Department saw injustice and drew their swords to help, conveniently logging an official response. They apprehended a major criminal, catching him red-handed with the evidence, and are handing him over to the Ministry of Justice for further sentencing."

Qing Shisan completely understood. He glanced at the twisted heap of a ’Human’ on the floor, a flicker of pity in his eyes. He actually wanted to say that before handing him over to the Ministry of Justice, they might need to get Situ Yong to patch him up a bit. Otherwise, no one would be able to recognize who it was.
