Chapter 928: Chapter 927: Extra 1: Returning to Yun City

Later, Cheng Zhirang asked Mu Qiu a question, feeling uneasy.

“Was the proposal too informal? I didn’t wear the clothes you like, didn’t style myself, wasn’t at a place you love, and didn’t even hand you roses myself.”

Mu Qiu had a book spread on her lap. She was engrossed in reading, and on hearing him, casually patted his thigh, read another page, then looked up and said:

“I didn’t think so. I thought it was very romantic. A proposal should be sudden, like giving me a surprise, right? Watching the sunrise that day, I didn’t expect you to propose. That was already a surprise.

If you had planned everything and conspired with others to trick me into a proposal, it probably wouldn’t have been a surprise. Don’t underestimate a woman’s perception, I would definitely see through any prior preparations.”

“That’s good. I was afraid you’d find it too simple.”

Cheng Zhirang clasped her hand, intertwining their fingers.

“Shall I go back to Yun City with you? Have you told your parents about this?”

Mu Qiu had to move her hand aside, snuggling into his embrace, “I have. You have to say things like this when you’re impulsive, or you’d be too scared to speak up after thinking too much. But… they were also watching the live show, so when I called, they already knew.”

Cheng Zhirang said seriously, “Then I should definitely go back with you.”

“But you have filming commitments, isn’t it bad to take frequent leaves?” she asked.

He shook his head, smiling, “The crew also watched the show, many sent me messages congratulating me. The director said I could take another two days off, but it would be best not to take more after that.”

“Then that’s good. You can accompany me back but be prepared. The power of two professors isn’t something every student can withstand.”

He wasn’t nervous. Compared to dealing with elders, he was more worried about another matter.

“Qiuqiu, the wedding…”

“?”

Mu Qiu sat up straight, “Proposing and marrying are not the same. If you think a successful proposal means straight to marriage, believe it or not, my parents will throw you out.”

Cheng Zhirang lightly furrowed his brow, seeming to genuinely question, “Isn’t marriage supposed to follow a proposal? I was planning to discuss it with my parents. This film will take about three months, ending around October, just right for taking wedding photos.”

“You think you’re scheduling an agenda so tightly?”

Straddling his lap, she faced him, saying, “Accepting your proposal means I’m starting to mentally prepare, adapting to the role of being engaged, rather than immediately transitioning from a free person to a married woman.

My ideal wedding time is next year. By then, we’ll have adapted to each other for a year, be more familiar, have closer family ties, and understand each other’s careers better. That’s when we can sit down and chat about getting the certificate, marriage, and having kids.”

“Until then, we’re engaged, closer than ordinary couples, more passionate than old married couples, and it’s like leaving a last bit of time for us to regret.”

Cheng Zhirang listened attentively to her views, asking like a good student, “Is this decision very certain? Will it remain unchanged?”

“Oh, not at all,” she pecked his lips, smiling, “We’re both in ever-changing lives, our thoughts will surely keep evolving, never static. What if I really want to get married before then? Nonstop pulling you to the marriage bureau? What if by then you don’t want to marry, I wouldn’t force it. See, change is always there.”

“If that day comes and I regret it, you really wouldn’t force me?”

Mu Qiu still smiled, “I won’t force whether you regret it, mainly because I can’t force it. But I can force what happens after you regret it. For instance, if you regret it because you don’t like me anymore, then you’re done for.”

Cheng Zhirang looked at her smiling face issuing threats, chuckling softly, “How done for?”

“Know what happens to guys pretending to be good and then showing their true colors?” She made a scissor gesture with her fingers.

“Snap, serves them right to get whacked.”

Cheng Zhirang couldn’t help it anymore and burst out laughing.

They flew back to Yun City.

Having to go through several security checks, Cheng Zhirang’s face was hard to hide. With the keen eyes of fans, they were recognized before entering the departure lounge.

Fortunately, people at the airport had their flights to catch, so they couldn’t follow them around. Moreover, many of those who followed were Cheng Zhi fans, very well-behaved, suppressing their screams.

Cheng Zhirang pulled down his mask, softly reminding them “don’t make noise,” and they really didn’t, escorting them to the final security check where someone couldn’t help but loudly ask, “Are you going to Yun City, Brother Cheng? Meeting the parents?”

Cheng Zhirang didn’t answer, but after passing security, he turned back, smiling and waving to everyone.

In the departure lounge, many recognized them, but sitting in the corner, with Cheng Zhirang holding her hand, he softly apologized to the first fan asking for an autograph, so no one else came over to disturb them.

Though from afar, there were many taking photos.

Cheng Zhirang was used to this life, fearing she might not like it, always holding her hand and talking lowly to her.

Mu Qiu was replying to Zhou Jilin and Su Jin’s messages, occasionally responding with a “hmm” then asking:

“What do you want to eat? My mom wants to personally cook for you, future son-in-law. Don’t say ‘whatever,’ we hate open-ended questions.”

Cheng Zhirang smiled downwards, “Haven’t you been craving braised chicken? And oyster mushrooms in oil? Let’s go with those two, plus one or two of uncle and aunt’s favorites, four dishes should be enough for four.”

“Mature men are just different, everything’s so well arranged. Tonight, Zhou Jilin and Sister Su Jin are also coming to my house for dinner. Can you stay that long?”

He stroked her hair, warmly saying, “Don’t worry, there’s time for meeting the parents. If filming is suitable, I can stay until the day after tomorrow morning.”

The action of stroking her head excited the surrounding fans taking pictures, causing a rush of cheers.

Mu Qiu glanced over, quietly asking, “If the photos are posted online, everyone knowing you’re going to Yun City to meet the parents, isn’t it bad? What if fans swarm you in Yun City?”

“Might have a bit of influence, but I don’t want such things to be done sneakily. Don’t worry, I’ve arranged for someone to pick us up, no fans will catch up,” he whispered.

“Being in a relationship with a big celebrity like this always has to be careful, sigh~”

“It’s only like this for a while; once the show’s hype passes, it won’t be like this,” he dared to ask further, “So are you willing to be in a relationship like this with me?”

She playfully bragged, “I already accepted your proposal, what else can I do? I’ve never had a habit of cancelling after buying in.”

The two of them tilted their heads to make eye contact, then smiled at each other after a moment.
