I'm Crushing on Gorgeous Faces in Variety Shows!
Chapter 949: Extra 22: Mommy Isn't Angry
On March 29th, little Xixi turned four years old.
A four-year-old has grown to be very beautiful, and she is the renowned little beauty of this villa area.
She can already speak fluently, build with blocks, put on her shoes and socks by herself, sleep in the children’s room, and climb stairs step by step, full of energy and curiosity about everything unfamiliar in the world.
Especially during the time when we moved to Mu Qiu’s little villa.
Every morning, she would slip out of bed in her pajamas to watch the sky from the little balcony.
Her little hands folded on the back of the sofa, chin resting on them; with thick eyelashes, a delicate nose and mouth, and eyes as clear as a cat’s, she would occasionally make “wow” sounds while looking at the sky.
After watching the sky, she would go observe other things.
By the time Cheng Zhirang and Mu Qiu got up, they would have to look for her everywhere, checking if she was on the balcony, downstairs, or hiding someplace else.
Once found, they faced countless questions.
“Daddy, why does that leaf look like green spaghetti?”
“Daddy, why is the moon still up in the sky?”
“Daddy, why can’t the sun have a home?”
“Mommy, why is glass transparent?”
“Why do eggs in water jump?”
“Why isn’t the hair on my hand as long as the hair on my head?”
Hundreds of whys every day.
Mu Qiu struggled to handle these questions, handing the child over to Cheng Zhirang while she turned to Baidu on her phone.
Some questions she knew, but others truly stumped her.
Besides being energetic, there was another expression—crying.
When this little dumpling starts to cry, it’s like the dam of the ocean has broken; she cries and cries for almost half a day, and very loudly.
Cheng Zhirang advocated comforting before reasoning, and logically, this was indeed the best solution, which Mu Qiu also agreed with.
But heaven pity us, the crying was just too annoying, not only killing her inspiration, but she couldn’t write half the number of words she used to in an hour.
This made her restless, and her mood turned very bad. When in a bad mood and hearing this crying, she’d feel like picking up a feather duster.
Seeing Cheng Zhirang gently comforting the little one while she cried red-faced and still throwing a tantrum made her want to resort to drastic measures even more.
“Cheng Xi! Stop crying!”
Her sudden shout startled Xixi, making her pause, holding back her tears, and then she pitifully crashed into Cheng Zhirang’s arms.
Held tight, she continued to cry quietly and intermittently.
Mu Qiu thought Cheng Zhirang truly had a good temper; had their roles been reversed, she would’ve collapsed.
She walked over, asking sternly, “What’s going on with you? Why are you crying like this?”
Cheng Zhirang stayed silent, prompting Xixi to speak for herself.
Xixi wiped away her tears, stood close against Cheng Zhirang’s leg, eyes red from crying, and sobbed, “My little frog is gone, and I just want mommy’s, but daddy won’t give it to me. Piglet won’t give me either.”
She referred to her little frog as a toy frog that croaks. “Mommy’s” referred to Mu Qiu’s long-legged stuffed monkey, while piglet was the very tiny turtle pig.
Mu Qiu frowned, “Isn’t it normal not to give? It’s mommy’s, not yours. If your little frog is gone, let daddy buy another one for you. Why insist on mine?”
Xixi was aggrieved, whispering, “But I just want that one.”
Likely realizing her behavior was wrong, she hid behind her father’s leg as she spoke.
Cheng Zhirang pulled her out, “Xixi, speak nicely to mommy, don’t hide behind daddy. Ask mommy if she wants to give it to you.”
“Mommy, can I please have your little frog?”
“Of course not,” Mu Qiu said decisively, “If my little frog is lost, can I take the doll Uncle Shi gave you? Also, I want to take the dresses daddy bought for you, alright?”
At the mention of her prized BJD doll and various pretty dresses, she couldn’t help it, bursting into tears again, “No! Don’t take Xixi’s dresses!”
“Then why can you take my little frog? This isn’t right, understand, Xixi?”
Xixi cried a few more times, seeing mommy had no intention to squat down and comfort her, she gradually stopped crying, reaching out to daddy for a hug.
Cheng Zhirang lifted her up, and she rested her head on his shoulder, wrapping her little hands around his neck, using her other hand to wipe her tears, making her eyes even redder. Then she looked timidly at Mu Qiu, turned her head, and then looked again, shakily calling out:
“Mommy, don’t be mad.”
A soft and sticky child is so adorable, parents can’t bear to be tough.
Mu Qiu took her into her arms, and Cheng Zhirang began to teach her.
“Other than your own things, you mustn’t want other people’s things. And you have to ask if others want to give them. If they don’t, Xixi, you definitely can’t take it. If you truly want it, tell daddy, and let him buy it for you.”
Xixi nodded tearfully, softly saying, “Xixi knows. Daddy, can you buy me a little frog?”
“Of course, we can buy an identical one, alright?”
“No, not the same one. I want one just like mommy’s little pig.”
“Alright, we’ll buy Xixi a little pig. Was crying so loudly uncomfortable, do you want some water?”
Again, with a milky voice, “Yes~”
So daddy took the child to drink water and choose a little pig on the tablet.
Taking care of children is exhausting; by nightfall, when He Jia and family came to look after the child, Mu Qiu dragged Cheng Zhirang to the small balcony to drink a beverage and vent.
“Do you still think our daughter is like a little angel? She has such a big temper.”
Cheng Zhirang took half of the ice cubes from her cup, saying, “Even little angels have their tantrums.”
“But dealing with the education of a little angel is really troublesome. You say to just endure, I’m afraid you’ll suffocate and become warped. Then you say to scold her, but she’s so fair-skinned and cute, no one has the heart for that.”
She sighed softly, “No idea who she resembles; I didn’t cry like this when I was little.”
Cheng Zhirang looked at her with a smile, “Really? But mom said when Xixi cries, it’s exactly like you were as a child, even fiercely protective of her dresses. Whenever someone mentioned taking them away, you’d cry till your voice cracked.”
“…”
Mu Qiu had a sip of her drink, wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, effectively silencing him.
The two hid behind the sofa enjoying their time alone, but soon enough, the sound of little feet pattering on the stairs, a nasal sweet voice called, “Daddy? Mommy?”
The couple froze, and Mu Qiu quickly pushed Cheng Zhirang away, wiping her mouth and stood up promptly.
Cheng Zhirang sighed.
The least angelic part of the little angel was this.
