Chapter 362: Chapter 7: Child Prodigy

Yimi rubbed her eyes as she sat up in bed, then walked toward the living room with the slightly too-long pajama legs underfoot and nearly tripped.

She had slept very uncomfortably. Tatsumaki’s pajamas obviously had nowhere for a tail, and even when Yimi slept on her side, it still felt like her tail was being pinned behind her. It was miserable.

More importantly, Fubuki, who had carried her away, certainly would not let her kick off the pants by herself.

In the living room, Fubuki was leaning toward a mirror and applying lipstick while wearing only black underwear. When she saw Yimi come out, she stopped what she was doing.

"You’re awake. Do you need to pee?"

While Fubuki was wondering how to deal with a child’s crying and tantrums, she saw Yimi sleepily wander into the kitchen and step onto a little stool that absolutely did not belong in this home.

Fubuki put down her lipstick and walked over in confusion. "What are you doing?"

"I’m, making breakfast."

After yesterday, Yimi no longer expected the green-haired dumbass version of Madoka to make breakfast, so it seemed she would have to solve the food problem in this world herself again.

But Yimi was a good child. Tatsumaki had given her grilled skewers yesterday, after all, so she had made a portion for Tatsumaki too.

"We can just go out for breakfast."

The moment the words left her mouth, Fubuki saw Yimi take out a chicken breast and casually cut it a few times with a knife. The little hand gripping the handle looked so unsteady that Fubuki seriously wondered whether she might accidentally cut herself.

After cutting it, Yimi tossed it straight into a wok, took out vegetables and seasonings, dumped everything in together, put on the lid, and simply left it alone.

Was she so young that her entire concept of cooking was just "put it in the pan and take it back out"?

Fubuki was about to clean up Yimi’s mess when, only a few seconds later, Yimi lifted the lid again.

?

The aroma of cooked food rushed out. What was with this perfectly presentable dish in the wok, as if someone had carefully controlled the heat and stir-fried it properly?

Yimi was currently using the Adaptive Power from the SAO world. Cooking worked exactly this simply over there.

"Stay there. Aunt Fubuki will serve it for you."

Fubuki deliberately referred to herself that way to lower a child’s wariness after suddenly waking up in an unfamiliar place. She used psychic power to take out plates and serve the food.

She could not understand how following the process she had just witnessed could possibly produce such a normal stir-fried dish.

Fubuki mentally calculated the calories. Eating stir-fried meat first thing in the morning was not ideal for maintaining her figure, but with a little child staring at her—not actually staring—she took a bite anyway.

The taste was not top-class, but it was definitely good enough to be called delicious. Fubuki could not help remembering Tatsumaki’s words from yesterday: "Then you try eating what she cooked!"

But it was obviously delicious. How mean.

"It’s delicious."

Fubuki patted Yimi’s head. Only then, as Yimi gradually woke up completely, did she realize that both the place and the person around her had changed.

"We changed places!" Yimi looked around alertly, inspecting the unfamiliar surroundings.

Fubuki nodded and handed her the stuffed toy she had prepared. "This might feel sudden, but I’ll be taking care of you from now on. My sister agreed to it too."

Her gaze drifted away when she said the last sentence.

It felt a little like telling a child, "Your mom doesn’t want you anymore."

"Meow!" Yimi angrily smacked the stuffed toy. It was shaped like a puppy.

That green-haired dumbass version of Madoka had sold her off while she was asleep!

Whatever. That woman was terrible anyway, and she was no help in completing the Main Quest.

Under Fubuki’s gaze, the kitty climbed completely onto the stool and stood on it, trying to give her words more weight by making herself taller than the seated Fubuki.

She even planted both hands on her hips like a tiny Nezha. "How do I, become a hero?"

Blast was a hero too. The kitty needed to become a hero so she could find him.

"Jumping to a completely different subject out of nowhere... Is that how children think?"

Fubuki stood up and put on her black qipao. "It’s a long and difficult process. Do you still want to do it?"

"What process?"

"First, sit properly in the chair."

"Oh." Yimi obediently sat back down.

Such a well-behaved child. It was a shame her sister had taught her profanity.

"Then come brush your teeth with me. Do you know how to brush them yourself?"

"Toothpaste doesn’t taste good."

"You’re not supposed to eat it."

...

Half an hour later, Yimi, wearing a backpack, was driven to the entrance of an elementary school.

"Meow?" Yimi’s mouth formed a little triangle as she looked up at Fubuki.

School again?

Yimi thought that instead of going to school, she would rather try her luck with a Teleport Crystal and see whether it could teleport her directly onto Blast’s face.

She did not understand why humans always liked wasting so much time going to school. Wasn’t work their hunting activity? Why couldn’t they just learn how to work directly?

"We didn’t give them any advance notice, but Fubuki-sama once defeated a monster that broke into this school. If I explain it directly, the principal should make an exception for Fubuki-sama out of respect for her."

Eyelashes, who had been driving, straightened his suit and made himself presentable before turning and rushing toward the principal’s office.

Since Fubuki had brought Yimi back, she naturally intended to teach and guide her properly.

But after growing up almost entirely alone beneath Tatsumaki’s shadow, she also understood how important the company of children the same age could be during childhood.

Yimi might only be two, but conversation showed that she possessed intelligence appropriate for her apparent age. Starting elementary-school lessons directly should not be a problem.

Of course, children could also harbor tremendous malice. Fubuki knew that better than anyone.

She did not want other children calling Yimi a monster because of her ears and tail, so she planned to personally walk her to the classroom and let the other children see who had brought her. As B-Class Rank 1, Fubuki was certainly famous enough.

Of course, she could not expect a bunch of first-grade brats to understand who they should not mess with, so she also planned to secretly watch her little niece for the entire day.

"Are you trying to skip school?"

Another crisp childish voice pulled Fubuki from her thoughts. She turned and saw that, during the brief moment she had not been holding Yimi’s hand, the little girl had somehow sneaked off to the side.

"What’s skipping school?"

"It means secretly leaving school before classes are over," the slightly fierce-looking girl answered Yimi.

"I’m going to, become a hero."

"Are you trying to go to the Hero Association branch? That’s really far away. How could a little kid like you become a hero?" It was not like she was Child Emperor.

Yimi’s eyes lit up. "You know where it is?"

"Of course. My big brother is... What are you doing?" Before she could finish, Yimi grabbed her and pulled her toward the school exit.

The kitty’s luck was amazing!

"Take me there. I’ll give you something tasty when we come back."

"But it’s class time right now. And after school I still have piano lessons..."

"Let’s go before Blizzard of Hell finds us."

She had already found them.

"...Yimi!"

Fubuki walked over to stop her.

She had thought she could understand Yimi, but now even she could not figure out how a child’s thought process worked.

The girl being dragged by Yimi tried to brake with her shoes, but she was still not as strong as Yimi.

"Do you know how far it is? Three kilometers!"

"Then..."

Under Fubuki’s gaze, Yimi dragged the girl over to the car they had arrived in. It was a newly rented one, not the car whose roof had been torn off yesterday.

Fubuki watched the car start and head toward the distant Hero Association branch. When it reached a narrow road, it even drove sideways through, displaying driving skills far beyond Eyelashes’s.

?

Eyelashes had left the keys in the car.

A child prodigy?
